I'm honestly sort of offended a modern masterpiece like King's Quest isn't on here while something like Virginia managed to slip in.

Sexy Brutale and Edith Finch are wonderful though, those games deserve all the attention they can get.

Personally i found Her Majestys Spiffing to be rubbish and Virginia to be dull.

Virginia is one of the worst games i have ever played..and i have been gaming for 25 years.

Kings quest or any sherlock holmes game, would be preferable to virginia and grim legends

The episodic King's Quest was not only a good game, but it faithfully honoured its roots. It truly felt like a modern update that fit the vein of the original King's Quest titles. Maybe a little more dialogue heavy, but that's been part of the evolution of games. A noted omission from this list.
We don't stop playing because we get old; we grow old because we stop playing.

What Remains of Edith Finch, Thimbleweed Park and Life is Strange deserve their places here, not sure about Her Majesty's Spiffing although it was amusing. What about the first season of The Walking Dead, or better yet The Wolf Among Us?

The Council sounds interesting though. I've never heard of it until now.

I really enjoyed Virginia - more so than Kings Quest. I've not tried some of the ones on this list but I think I will check them out now. The only one personally on this list I didn't like was Her Majesty's spiffing - I found it was trying way too hard to be funny and missed the mark most of the time.

Nice to see I wasn't the only one who suffered playing Virginia.

Some good games in there but never understood the love for Life is Strange. One of the most tedious clichéd 'games' ever imo.

What you really ought to do is actually go play the rest of King's Quest laugh The first four chapters vary in quality, but the final one is incredible.

Agreed, still can't bring myself to carry on past the first episode, you can expand that to most of the telltale games for me personally. My favourite is probably The Wolf Among Us, but even that isn't very high up on my list.

You can't beat the text only classics on the Acorn Electron!

It just goes to show how different everybody is...

Edit: Just sorted all games by the tag adventure, and to be honest my favourite by a long way is Kinect Dinseyland Adventures, followed by Brothers. (Because we played it as a duo sharing the controller).

Struggled to stay awake playing her Majesty's spiffing. I thought the live action ones were interesting like the Bunker and Late Shift. Not sure how they make any money on them though with how much work goes into them.

I'm another one who's going to stick up for Virginia here as I thoroughly enjoyed the narrative and structure of the game. Have not played Kings Quest as others have recommended so will give that a try.

I'm not sure that producing a few hours of video is necessarily much more expensive then coding a decent 'traditional' game?

Same. I have King's Quest too, but have yet to start it. Perhaps I will this year, lol.
