So, I was bored and decided to run some stats on “The big three.” I’m always utterly shocked at Stallion83, SMRNOV, and Celtics Gamerscore (GS), so I decided to see who has the stats to seriously be the better player. Shear GS means very little without taking into consideration what games you’re playing (and not playing), what types of achievements you are getting, how difficult the achievements are that you obtain, and how much of your score is composed of what I am going to refer to as “garbage time.”

As an analogy, GS is sort of your NBA championship ring, but someone who got the ring with an inferior team may still be the better player. This is why we look at in depth analytics like rebounds, assists, points, etc. when comparing the great players across generations. So, let’s break it down simply for fun. Hopefully some of you find these stats as interesting as I did! Importantly, these stats are subject to change and represent the current stats as of 6/16/2018.

For the stats, I’m going to implement a few things for reference:
Individual Achievement Difficulty:
TA ratio < 2.0 = Easy
TA ratio > 2.0 to < 4.0 = Medium
TA ratio > 4.0 to < 8.0 = Hard
TA ratio > 8.0 = Very difficult

Individual Game Completion Categories (Base game + DLC):
100% completion = Diamond
75-99.9% completion = BLEEP BLOOP
50-74.9% completion = Ding
25-49.9% completion = …Unlocking
0-24.9% completion = Installing

Overall Game Difficulty Based on Total Game TA Ratio:
>3.000 = Captain
2.501-2.999 = Starting Five
2.001-2.500 = Sixth Man
1.751-2.000 = Second Unit
1.201-1.750 = Bench Player
1.000-1.200 = Garbage Time

Overall Completion: Total # of achievements / total # of achievements available

Overall analysis:
Pretty interesting statistics for these gamers. Stallion83 and smrnov are relatively close in total GS with Celtic force trailing by around 100,000GS. Interestingly, however, is that he is gaining almost 10,000 more GS per year on average than Stallion83 and smrnov and could possibly catch up to them over time with a solid push over the course of several years.

You certainly have to appreciate the fact that Stallion83 is in the lead, but there is a glaring asterisk that really stands out compared to smrnov and Celtic Force, which is the number of games that fall into garbage time. While his percentage is only 4% and 5% higher than Celtic Force and smrnov, respectively, that translates to approximately 300 and 200 more games in that category, which comprises 200,000-300,000 more GS alone (without possible DLC) within the easiest to complete game category!! Stallion83 also has the lowest overall achievement completion of the 3, behind by 8% and 27% to smrnov and Celtic Force, and the lowest diamond game completion category at a mere 47.8%, which is 26.2% and 51.9% lower than smrnov and Celtic Force. This explains why he has played 159 more games than smrnov and 875 more games than Celtic Force, but only holds a modest lead in overall GS. Not only is Stallion83 playing more games, he is playing easier games (only 8.3% of games in the starting five and captain categories) and focusing on getting the easiest achievements in those games (76.9% of achievements in easy category). The motto suggests his style is to play as many games as possible and focus on the least time consuming/least difficult achievements and not worrying about anything else. This is simply a Gamerscore-to-time-management play style where the only thing that matters is GS.

smrnov holds a very impressive second place in the total GS, but looking at the stats allows you to appreciate his profile a little more. He’s averaging around 1,000 GS less per year than Stallion83, and his overall obtained achievement difficulty puts his easy category at 74.5%, which is 2.4% lower than Stallion83 and 3.5% lower than Celtic Force. While 74.5% doesn't seem too different than 76.9% at a glance, it actually equates to 1,671 more achievements won by Stallion83 within the easy category alone. Of note, both smrnov and Stallion have a proportion of easy achievements that is 3.5% and 1.1% less than Celtic Force (more on that later), respectively. Interestingly, he has triple the amount of very difficult achievements than Stallion83 and 5x more than Celtic Force, which equates to about 180 and 200 more achievements with a ratio above 8.0. He also has 19 achievements with a ratio above 10, which is not too different than Stallion83 (18) and Celtic Force (16). His overall achievement completion is 8% better than Stallion, but 19.3% worse than Celtic Force. Interestingly, however, is the fact that he has the highest TA ratio at 1.82 (~0.10 better than the other two), and 27.6% of his games fall into the Captain, Starting Five, and Sixth Man categories in terms of overall difficulty. This number is impressively higher than Stallion83 or Celtic force, who have 19.6% and 22.4% of their games in those categories, respectively. His increase in difficulty lands him the highest TA score that is ~150,000 higher than Stallion83 and ~350,000 higher than Celtic Force. He also shows the least amount of garbage time games percentage wise among the three players (respect). This gamer shows that he is certainly out to obtain as much Gamerscore from the easy games out there by the similar easy percentage of achievements, but he’s not shying away from difficulty/lengthy achievements in comparison to the other gamers. He is willing to put some effort into harder achievements to complete a game if he can, but if he can’t he’s not sweating it and moving on to the next game to keep up the pace.

Celtic Force certainly has a very very pretty overall achievement completion percentage at 99.95%. That is a feat in and of itself in an era of server shut downs and DLC, so hats off for that. Let’s dive in a little closer, and see how he stacks up to Stallion83 and smrnov. As I mentioned before, he is averaging about 10,000 GS more annually than smrnov and Stallion83, so if the pace is kept he could pull himself closer over time. While Celtic Force makes sure he can complete a game before he loads the game up on his profile (and password locks his console so no one can accidentally launch a game on his profile), he also makes sure that game has EASY achievements. In fact, he owns the largest percentage of easy achievement, which comprise 78% of his total achievements. Difficulty and time consumption is not a part of this achievement hunter’s reservoir. An astounding 77.6% of his games fall into the second unit, bench player, and garbage time categories with 19.9% of them in garbage time. This is considerably more than smrnov, who stands at 71.7% within these categories, but is still less than the astonishing 80.4% mark laid down by Stallion83. However, if we expand this to include sixth man, second unit, bench player, and garbage time difficulty games, Celtic Force takes the lead with 92.1% of his games falling within these categories, compared to 86.6% and 91.7% for smrnov and Stallion83, respectively. This basically means that Celtic Force is only playing games with an overall ratio >2.501 a mere 7.9% of the time. Also, he has the lowest % of very difficult achievements (although essentially identical to Stallion83 percentage-wise). He shows a 3% reduction in games with captain difficulty compared to smrnov, but again is slightly better than Stallion83 by a margin of 0.3%. Overall, you have to appreciate Celtic Force’s determination to complete every game that is on the profile (I’m sure he’d even pay money to get that March Madness server online for a day!). In fact (as pointed out by Sashamorning in the comments), if you look at the 6 games he hasn't completed, 1 is in progress, 2 are due to unobtainables, 2 are due to DLC he may not own, and 1 is, well, difficult. His overall status is a bit weakened by the shear focus on easier titles with easier achievements and very rarely a very difficult achievement on the resume. This motto is research oriented, and he knows he can complete a game quickly before he even starts playing it.

Overall, I’d have to give the edge to smrnov. I think his overall profile is the most impressive all things considered. He has a significant edge in very difficult achievements while also maintaining a close 2nd place in total GS and a respectable completion percentage. Hope ya’ll enjoy the numbers and had some fun~

Can you explain to me
"Game Completion:
Overall Achievement Completion: 72.8%
Diamond: 1336 (47.8%)
BLEEP BLOOP: 495 (17.7%)
DING: 343 (12.3%)
…Unlocking: 290 (10.4%)
Installing: 329 (11.8%)"

I understand part of these but what's DING, Unlocking and Installing... I figured part of these achievements were fixed by now, Ive heard of unlocking but not Installing.

I'd be surprised if he had 290 unlocking bugged achievements too. Mine all cleared up quickly.

These are categories that I made up to place the individual achievements and games they have played into categories of "easy and hard" achievements. I explain that in the beginning portion of the post and what they mean smile

The specific game completion categories refer to the proportion of games that meet the %complete requirement to be in that category.

couldn't you have completed tons of "garbage time" instead of the survey? toast

I always wonder if they are multi-billionaires who attend a briefing once a day concerning assets and holdings then spend the rest of the time gaming.

Doesn't work like that with the achievement community. a majority of us hold jobs, family and a lot of other adult things as well. We also have students who are in university and colleges and that is not cheap.

I agree with your assessment of the "community". The 3 that are the topic of the thread are not the majority.

I don't know any of them personally, so I don't mind commenting on this.

Looking at the three, what is interesting is that gamer C is gaining on A and B, and yet maintaining a psychotic completion %. Only 6 out of 1916 games outstanding. Look closer...

Mass Effect (JP) has two unobtainables. I'm missing those too. (Dammit.)
March Madness 07 has one easy, but discontinued, achievement.
Need For Speed has a couple of stupid hard achievements left, including a 53.61 ratio.
The Final Station has the DLC that came out over a year later.
Mantis Burn Racing is the DLC as well.
Agents of Mayhem is in progress.

So to have an almost 100% completion rate while also gaining on the other two... that's pretty damn impressive, which takes nothing away from A or B.

Yea I agree. His completion % is really impressive even if it’s mostly easily completed titles as I mention in the analysis. Certainly got to appreciate his devotion to complete everything. I’m a completionisr myself, but I spend years competing games like gears of war and ESO and what not. Different gamers different styles is all. That’s what makes gaming so great, the ability to play like you want

Nice stats. We always state that ratio does not equal difficulty but rarity, although I think when you get to these numbers it does hold more water.
Two can play this game.

I definitely understand your point there. But as you said I think rarity when used with the large sample volume holds some merit as to difficult and or time consuming (which are generally the rarest achievements). 👍

That's a lot of effort for something most people already knew. I lost respect for Stallion pretty much about the time I heard of smrnov. smrnov clearly plays more difficult games and completes a higher percentage of the achievements in them. Stallion clearly plays everything he can get his hands on, plays long enough to get the easiest achievements in them and then moves on. That doesn't impress me at all smrnov completed Magic Duels. Enough said.

Very interesting read.

It would be interesting to split games played into Xbox 360 Arcade / Xbox 360 / Xbox One games (both 360 categories could be just one), since XBO games usually have way higher ratios than 360 games.

Great read, cheers for that.

I think they all have proven that they are good and have a drive to do what they do.
As a working dad anyone with a job and a family that can pull numbers anywhere near this is worth some praise. Who impresses someone is always relative so all 3 are impressive and it makes for interesting viewing from an outsider view.
Happy Gaming
