Voted 2020 but would be fine with 2021, as long as the increase in power justifies it. Can see an itterational increase, so games must run on x1x and the new system but x1s/og can be left behind. Will probably buy it regardless, as £450 - £500 every 4 years is an acceptable outlay for me. Not the case for everyone, and I do appreciate I'm fortunate in that regard, but I think comparing x1 lifecycle to x360 is unrealistic and Nov 2021 needs to be the latest release date.

To be fair, I would kinda like to see them continue with the incremental upgrades.
So maybe release a new system in 2021 and have the new games run on Xbox two and one x, with performance/graphic improvement on X2 and have everything be backwards compatible going on from here, so the ID games, 2D platformers, pixel games etc. can still come out for Xbox one for all eternity but play on every system.

iPhones cost more than consoles and they release a new one every year.

After 2022. My son is 4 now so that would let him have some voting power when it comes to winning my wife over for getting another console. That and he'll be at an age where I could pawn it off as a combo gift for the both us at Christmas. laugh

Pawn him off to mow yards and things like and then he can pitch in on buying it too. In 2022 I mean, I’m might be hard for him to mow today, ha.

Regardless when it releases I'm not changing my xbox one x untill 2022. There arent many enhanced games anyway. Normal life span of a gen is around a decade. So 2022 seems fine.

2021 or later. Any sooner, and I skip the X1X which I was planning on replacing my first X1 with for Christmas.

I really don't want new consoles before 2020 at the very least. I still have an insane 360 & PS3 backlog and use both consoles regularly. I still have to buy Switch. I haven't experienced X or Pro yet. 2020 or later, please.

Preferably beyond 2023.

Hopefully by that point they'll be a M$ IP worth playing/buying.
I'm always willing to help other players boost achievements even if I already have them. Just ask!

Personal thought is that the consoles should into a 10 year cycle (so that the next generation will release in 2023), but with an optional hardware upgrade halfway through like we saw last generation with the Slim, or this generation with the X. Or, Microsoft could even upgrade each run like they did in the 360: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_specificati...

Either way, 8-10 years is a pretty good run, and I think the release of the X last year is indication of this generation lasting longer than the previous one.

They just released the X, so I'm hoping it's not for a while as what's the point in releasing a new one? They're constantly rolling out updates via the insider program so whatever new console they have can't be that groundbreaking to justify buying a new one.

I want the option, after they finally released some new flagship games that make me choose Xbox instead of PlayStation. Kinda still waiting on that. I mean, I love Gears of War and Halo but we need something new, something fresh. Something that PlayStation got several times in the past time on the PS4. Until then, I'm really not looking forward to another new console, first they gotta support this one with great new series.

Im already preparing for the future.....I purchased 2 Belkin HDMI 2.1 cables, iv connected one from the xbox one x to my Sony STR DN1080, and one from the sony to my LG Oled 55C7V.
In my mind I have better picture quality and framerate...…..Xbox one x has a HDMI 2.1 port but im wondering what use Microsoft is gonna make of it. They cant upgrade the xbox one x with firmware to do 8k I guess, so maybe they will get Dolby vision at some point, I just hope lg and sony can upgrade the hdmi ports to 2.1 but at this point its unknown if that's even possible I think. Iv been going around the net looking for info and stuff and comparison videos, theres one that shows hdmi 2.1 cables give a better hdr picture, but I don't know if I can see it or if its in my mind.

I just bought this Oled last November, and that receiver just a few weeks ago... So maybe I have to buy new ones next year already.... I don't settle for second best, but I have to stay within my budgets too... ah the techworld is hard, thank god for beer

I don't see any need for a new console until the technology moves on. Why make an Xbox Two if the guts are going to be identical to the One or the X.

Well if Xbox holds to their 'Any games playable on the X are playable on the S and OG', then games are eventually going to get gimped, theoretically. So either we'll need a new console or that stance will have to change.

What? I'm still waiting for the great games of this generation. There have been good games sure, but nothing that compares to the 360 generation.
