That can be attributed to player counts between FH3 and FH4, but not the sales charts (Game Pass isn’t factored in) and not the trend across the rest of the series. (Game Pass wasn’t around yet.)

Totally fair. I know you mentioned the Game Pass in the article but I am just very unsure about game sales reports. This is coming from a Forza nut so nothing against the series

This is not good for completionists. The completion % is too low for these games.
We can't even attempt to convince Microsoft about the importance of keeping the achievements alive because people don't complete one of their most important franchises. =(

FH: 124,886 tracked gamers have this game, 5,263 have completed it (4.21%) Gold
FH2: 130,986 tracked gamers have this game, 1,924 have completed it (1.47%) Gold
FH3: 112,535 tracked gamers have this game, 3,707 have completed it (3.29%)
FH4: 85,489 tracked gamers have this game, 775 have completed it (0.91%)

Imagine the ratio in FH3 when it (if) becomes Games with Gold!
If they keep the tradition we will get Forza 6 next year before the delisting and Horizon 3 in 2020!

Shame the multiplayer has gone worse with every sequel, the 1st Horizon's multiplayer was simple and accessible, then it's been unnecessarily tarted about with in each game until we've ended up this current shitfest of a multiplayer on FH4.

That's what happens when you make games extremely grindy and time-consuming. While great, Horizon 2 especially is a loooong grind.

I'm not a big fan of racing games. These are all fun to play for a short time, but not a heavy investment for me. Not surprised they sell well. Even though I'm not a fan of the gameplay, there's no denying they are some of the best looking games around. And the controls are super tight. I played the latest one shortly after launch. Just looking at it, I was a little taken aback. It's crazy to see the graphics in that game and then look at the graphics of games I played when I was younger. It's almost like watching real life.

After playing a few of the Forza games and so far one of the Horizon games I can see why Horizon continues to get more and more popular. Horizon is such a fun take on the racing genre. I've been playing Forza 5 off and on for months chipping away at some of the achievements and for me it just turns into such a freaking grind. I get that some people may totally love those games and good for them but I'm never buying another Forza game. I do however, look forward to playing Horizon titles for a long time to come.

Just an FYI. Forza 5 was the worst one ever. Not saying you'd love the others but it was a low point even for huge fans.

Forza 5 was the worst Forza, until 7 came out. 7 is some on a whole other tier of garbage.

I am sure that a lot of fh4 sales (in particular pre-orders) were due to the brilliance of fh3.

Will fh5 be able to sell itself on the success of fh4?

Not at the moment .....online is horrendous. ...and we are yet to see what the expansion packs are. Bugs and glitches aplenty. Pc users are even worse affected than console players.

Fh3 is great.
Fh4 is good.

Playground/Microsoft have definitely got their work cut out for them if fh5 is to continue the “growing sales” trend.

Forza Horizon 4:
82,000 players X $60 = $4,920,000 in sales (1 month)

Red Dead Redemption 2:
11,000,000 players x $60 = $660,000,000 in sales (under estimating) (3 days)

Spiderman:
3,300,000 players * $60 = $198,000,000 in sales (3 days)

...is the article missing something? or is this pathetic?

I agree. Using myself as an example, I pre-ordered the steelbook ultimate edition of FH4 based on my enjoyment of FH3 (even though I wasn't too keen on the "Hot Wheels" expansion), but I will not be doing the same for FH5 based on FH4.

I've enjoyed my time with FH4 considerably, but I still don't consider it more than just a good game.

No; you're missing something. 82,000 tracked gamers, I.E. people on this site.
