Tombs

So at the end of Coastal Forest, and after I upgraded my pick ax to help the doctor open the gate, I obviously followed him inside. However, even though I discovered the tomb in this area, I didn't explore it. Do I have to wait for the game to be over to go back, or can I do it at the first campfire i come to?

Going from memory, the door closes after the doctor lets you in, & doesnt reopen until you complete the game... Or perhaps you back to backtrack from the next campfire.
