TGN Podcast: Xbox or PlayStation - Who's Had a Better Year?

Gonna listen on monday, have a long drive. Looking forward to it

Though i do most of my gaming on Xbox. The answer is PlayStation had the better year simple as that.

The point I'm kinda getting at, is I'm not sure you can have an opinion if you don't play games. It would be like me ranking sports games or giving opinions on sports media. I can't because I know nothing about it and therefore my opinions would equate to nothing.

I agree that Microsoft won everything year except what really matters to me which is games. PlayStation killed it with games especially since I’m not a racing fan. I’d also add that I think the new Microsoft rewards has been good. So far this year I’ve received $80 in Xbox gift cards for just doing searches and random things.

I think I heard something about ps having better year, though not sure as I have been enjoying games on xbone.

Edit: The point I'm making is democracy, I have no intention of discussing my perticular example. What I'm getting at is people have the right to their opinion even if you agree with them or not, you can't say who has or hasn't the right to voice their opinion based or arbitrary rules.

Don't have time for the podcast yet, but interested to listen soon! I am a great lover of both Xbox One and PS4, and I think both platforms did stuff better and worse than the opposition this year.

When it comes to customer-facing changes for the platform and for the better: Xbox had an amazing year. They continue to innovate with things like Game Pass, expanding Backwards Compatibility (along with 4K upgrades for games now going back to the original Xbox!) Continually improving the UI and console connectivity, having a link with PC gaming that finally works well, etc. All while avoiding things that Sony has been doing wrong in recent years (due to being complacent in their lead.) The biggest being cross-play and cross-progression support. Plus better support for game mods, no blatant censorship of titles, etc.

In the case of exclusive titles, there's no question Sony did better this year. Stuff like God of War and Spider Man sold insanely well, had both critical and fan acclaim almost across the board, etc. Those are tangible things, regardless of whether you personally played the titles. This is unlike Sea of Thieves where, well, needless to say it was not launched or received as well. It got into a lot of hands thanks to Game Pass, but that muddies the water in terms of its true "sales" numbers. Forza is of course an exceptional series, and unlike Sony's Gran Turismo it never fails to deliver (and often.) But sadly its appeal isn't as broad as the above-mentioned stuff.

For games - PlayStation for Detroit: Become Human.
Everything else - Xbox.

PSN - Still no PSN ID and region change option which is the most requested feature year after year. PS+ went up in price and continues to be complete garbage.

A PS3 drive would be good for the PS4 or a PS Vita player that actually works.
