I dont know how I even read to the end of this thread. The world is such a trainwreck these days, and I hate that it is intruding more and more into the escapism of video games. [sigh]

So luckyconquerer2 was banned for "being a jerk" and some human trash defending cp is still allowed to post here? Don't get me wrong, I tolerate "free speech" to a very high degree, even insulting, hateful or hurtful if it has to be but anyone who has any other opinion than a strict "no" regarding cp hosting is just a piece if shit. Thats far worse than "being a jerk".

Just saying some responds in this thread are far more moderation-worthy than what happened there and lead to mods stepping in.
Luckyconquerer2 had a much more extensive modfile and had numerous warnings and temporary loss of site privileges. Please do not assume it was one singular post that lost him his forum privileges.

THQ hosted an AMA on 8ch and it was a good idea.
How exactly is hosting an AMA on an image board that is most known for being complacent in the sharing and distribution of child pornography 'a good idea'?

I've said it several times already: Unfiltered questions and real opinions instead of regulated stuff. On sites like reddit you only get upvoted bootlicker questions.

Or to answer in an attention-seeking way like you asked: "How is hosting an AMA on reddit a good idea? A site known for its subreddits for animated CP, tons of sick fetishes and videos of people getting killed and/or murdered?"

Reddit is not most known for that. They're most known for subreddits of cat pictures and whatnot. There is a dark underbelly of the site, and frankly I have no patience or respect for Reddit either, but that is not their most notable trait. When someone mentions Reddit, the shit you mention is not the very first thing that springs to mind. With 8chan, most people don't even know about it at all, but for those who do, the very first thing that comes to mind for that cesspool is child pornography. It is a defining characteristic of the site. It's arguably the entire reason the place even exists to begin with. The two sites are not even remotely comparable at all. Your comparison is garbage.

How can the US hosted site still be up? It's not a honeypot so something seems to be fishy. There is either no CP or the feds are blind.

Reddit is famous for watchpeopledie and the fetish porn stuff. Reddit recently started deleting racist subreddits to change their public image to the better and get more advertisers.

You can focus on the negatives on each site. Still doesn't change the fact that an anonymous AMA without upvotes or mods deleting questions that they don't like is the superior way to host an AMA. Of course you get some trolls that try to be funny and edgy and post stuff that doesn't belong in am AMA but that's a given. It's the internet.

The feds have limited resources, and they generally use those resources to go after producers of child pornography first and foremost. Furthermore, 8chan is able to argue since they delete it (generally not very quickly), they are not culpable for it. That did not prevent Google from delisting it due to child porn anyway, mind.

Reddit is not 'famous' for it. I can guarantee 99% of people who use that site have no idea that shit exists at all, and if they do it's only because attention has been brought to it being terrible. It is an enormous site, I believe the largest forum community in the world, and the vast majority of users will never ever run across any of that shit because you have to be actively looking for it to find it. It's not a case of you accidentally stumbling across it while browsing the site casually.

8chan, meanwhile, is a very small, insular community. Its users are not ignorant of this issue at all; again, it's a key defining aspect of the site. People there can't claim they don't know about it. You will casually run across child porn on that site without actively seeking it out if you browse it for a few hours, and you'll see lolicon basically all the time. If you don't believe me, you are more than welcome to go browse it yourself for a few hours if you're OK with being placed on a watch list.

8chan has moderators though. They can and will delete whatever the hell they feel like deleting, as evidenced by the fact that they deleted the fucking AMA itself.

If they wanted to post it somewhere that didn't have upvoting, 4chan exists. I have no respect for that shithole either, but it's not even remotely close to as bad as 8chan is, at least not anymore ever since they tightened their moderation on child porn (which, again, used to be a gigantic issue on 4chan in the mid-00's). Which, again, the creation of 8chan was in response to this.

I defended THQ hosting an unfiltered AMA. I never defended 8ch for having people post cp or other illegal things. My stance on that topic is very clear. I'm against it like everyone else in this thread so far. And I still say that "People posted cp on 8ch. Shame on you THQ!" is stupid. The AMA was in their video games board, not one for porn.

8ch is a trash bin and you have to treat it that way. Everything has its place and trash belongs in the bin. It's anonymous and people abuse it. You can't tell me that you never drew a dick in a game just because you could. So many edgy teenagers built swastikas in Minecraft and they are far from being nazis. Everyone shot a dick with bullets on a wall in a FPS. You can't tell me that you know no one who did it for a quick laugh. We did it in Left 4 Dead all the time back in the days. And I've seen it in BF1 and CS many years prior.
If 8chan is a trash (which it unequivocally is) in the trash bin, you know what you do to the trash? You empty it. You get rid of it, forever.

Seriously, what is up with people continually misusing the First Amendment? All the First Amendment says is that the government will not infringe upon the rights of citizens to speak their mind, within reason. That's it. Nowhere does the First Amendment prevent you from the consequences of your actions nor for other people to express their own speech in response to yours.

Not once has 8chan ever been threatened to losing their 1st Amendment "rights" by the government. Same applies with THQ Nordic. All they've had is backlash due to their (rightful) toxic reputation.

I mean, seriously, what is up with you completely trivializing and minimizing 8chan? Like, I practically feel like I'm in John Oliver bingo when it comes to how you trivialize 8chan's actions and then use whataboutism for other places like 4chan or Reddit.

8chan isn't some poor, misunderstood soul who got caught stealing from the cookie jar or was caught drawing a dick pic once. This is a place that actively promotes bigotry and hate (considering they're people that toxic sites like /pol and r/TheDonald banned for being too extreme, which is truly saying something) and has been caught promoting and soliciting child pornography.

If THQ truly cared about having an unmoderated AMA, they could host it themselves. But they didn't, because it's very clear that was never the intention. Phillip Brock just wanted to talk to his fellow 8chaners, and used the AMA as an excuse to do so.

The fact that he still has his job is incredible, considering he willingly jeopardized THQ's reputation, and I've known people who got fired for a lot less than that.

If THQ wanted an uncensored AMA, why didn’t they go to 4chan? Why did they go to 8chan, the site with far more problems? 4chan ain’t great, but fuck it that’s better than the site blacklisted from google for CP & lollies.

I'm not discrediting anyone. Do you see anyone mentioned in my post? I'm just wondering what all these people are doing on 8chan looking at child pornography.

Oh, wait....you've never actually been to the 8chan site? So you've never actually seen child pornography on the site, then. But somebody told me there was child pornography. And somebody told me that a couple white guys hung a noose around his neck. I'm sure you'll pardon my skepticism in this day and age of things I have no first hand knowledge of, or indisputable proof of....ya know, like Hitler.

Is there child pornography on 8chan? i don't know. Probably so. There's a lot of bad stuff on the internet. People today, however, seem to forget that all that bad stuff was put there by other people, not by "the website". People are, in general, vile beings who do terrible things.

At any rate, the only point of my original post was that it behooves you to only speak to things you have certain knowledge of, or else state plainly that if "such-and-such" were the case then "my opinion is..."

As the saying goes, better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool, than to open it and remove all doubt.

It's a containment site. People flock there to speak their mind without censorship. That keeps other, tamer sites clean. Remember when 4chan got rid of /pol/? All the other boards were flooded with /pol/users. Trashmen pick up the trash and drive it to the dump. Call 8chan the dump if you want.

I simply don't see anything wrong with sites like 8ch (cp aside, that's illegal, gets deleted and the posters IP hand over to the police). I live in a country with heavily regulated speech. We're talking several years in jail for saying the wrong things. I'd rather deal with people being racist, edgy or whatever than live in fear for being locked up. Free speech is the most valuable thing you can have. Try living in a country without free speech, like I do.
Don't forget that it's the internet. There's an X on the upper right corner of your screen. No one forces you to visit the nasty places. The smartphone generation can't divide real life from internet. That's why trash talk is now a bannable offense in many games.

What has he done? Talked to a few customers and answered questions. THQ didn't take part in any cp-related stuff. Just video games. Nothing wrong with that. The outcry comes from jealous redditors who couldn't brag about hosting an AMA.

They could talk to real customers. The ones who cry about a game being too sexy or not "diverse" enough are not the ones buying the games. DOA bending over and making the girls less sexy will break them their neck. The ones who love bouncing boobies are the one bringing in the money. Same for the basement dwellers on 8ch. They spent their money on games. They're the ones feeding THQ. Not the ones who are offended about everything all the time.

Everyone is offended by something. Really wish you’d stop dismissing clearly valid complaints just because you don’t agree. No one’s doing that to you though God knows you deserve it after defending lolis and condoning a website that deals in child pornography.

You really need to look into a evaluate your soul. I can’t believe you’ve picked this hill to die on. It’s disgusting.
