Awesome! Nice review. I'll consider hopping in- maybe when it comes to EA access.

Never! Unless they bring Boss Hunt back for PvZ Garden Warfare II.

I'd agree with a good chunk of that review. I'm personally really enjoying that game, but I'm also a big fan of the series so I'm a bit biased.

Looks like GW2 with 4K and HDR.

Glad to see that campaign was expanded a little bit more. Now just waiting for this to go on sale. Hopefully within a year.

A bit of a grind for mastering every character? It is a huge grind that is in no way any fun.....

This! I won't start BfN before finishing GW2.

Listen to the doctor. Even with the (now patched) exploit it is an enormous boring waste of time. I still have 15 characters to max out and completely lost interest in doing so roll

Did the patch remove the method with the lawnmower that people were using? I forget the one for the zombies, but is that one gone too?

The grind for master on every character was over the top. They did make the reference to Seriously, but it wasn't worth it. The upgrades you get from all that grinding aren't very important since you only get to choose 1-3 of them at a time. So even with all that grinding you only got a bit of an advantage.

I completely agree, it does feel like GW2, and there wasn't enough focus on PvE as i WOULd have liked.

All other aspects of the game aside, I'm very disappointed with the game cover.

The previous Garden Warfare covers very much had a Plants VS Zombies dynamic, in which there was a split, a face off, a divide, a rivalry.

However this one is more like Plants AND Zombies, it looks like they are teammates rather than bitter rivals.

Although it looks fun, as a completionist (or at least an aspiring one) I am reluctant to join in due to the probability that there will be unobtainables at some point.

Plus, grinding all classes to mastery? No thanks. I don't mind putting in effort to unlock achievements, but there are far too many great games to play to spend THAT much time doing the same thing over and over in one game.

Yes. Now the lawnmower disappears when you initiate the bounty and you can't force the Rose in the zombie side into the lake.

No surprises here. I don't think anyone was expecting EA to innovate with this IP beyond adding in the latest and greatest Pay2Pay monetization schemes.

I loved the previous two PvZ:GWs, and find this one enjoyable, although I do feel like in someways it is a step backwards. I think the removal of the variants from each character removed a factor that made multiplayer a much more diverse experience due to the much larger variance of team makeup that is possible. Additionally, GW2 rewarded GW1 players for adopting GW2 by letting them import their unlocked variants from GW1. There is no sort of reward given to veterans of this franchise this time around, which is a bit disappointing given how awesome it was to see this sort of thoughtfulness given to past players. I mainly play the MP mode Turf Takeover, and in GW:BfN I feel this game mode has become stale. The maps do not have as much character and unique properties as previous iterations (like GW2's Moon Base Z which had zero gravity sections.) Also, the objectives become tiresome with them largely consisting of either a King of the Hill objective or escorting a floating raft with largely forgettable map ending objectives. The game regularly separates groups, even if there are only two of you, and switching teams is usually impossible due to most games of Takeover being full immediately. I also feel like the incentive structure in this game is lacking compared especially with GW2. In GW2, unlocked currency could be used to buy sticker packs of varying cost, which would unlock consumables and cosmetics, but also alternative character moves and additional characters. In GW:BfN the different currencies only unlock cosmetics, gestures, and scripted character lines.

I do really love the new characters they added (although I would LOVE to see variants of these too) , and am very pleased that they finally added sprint to the game. The PvE section of the game has been great, and I can tell much thoughtfulness went into making it a fun experience. I am pleased by the amount of content they packed in for me to play when I have no buddies to run MP with. I think this game is a great foundation, and I really hope they consider adding back in variants, adding more/better maps to Turf Takeover, and tweaking the incentive structure to make it more rewarding.

I'm probably the only one who likes the grindy achievement. It makes me actually play the game, which I enjoy, instead of grabbing the achievements and then leaving, not having experienced any of the multiplayer aspects. GW2 didn't have a leveling achievement like this which I found dissapointing.

I just wanted to say that it is funny that you stated Night Cap is a character that after the first month needed some work done to boost her when for the first major patch that she was the character that got the most nerfs because she was so good

Huh, interesting. I received the code after the patch. I guess they will balance her out eventually. Between getting the code and this review, I haven't seen anyone using her in PvP at all.
