There are a lot of games here I actually want to play. Most of them are just AAA games that take too long to finish within the allotted time.

I probably will start with the quick games Minit and Old Man's Journey first though.

I have also started but not finished Outer Wilds, Shadow of Mordor, Halo Wars DE, Resident Evil Revelations and Dead Cells so this would be a good opportunity for me to finish those.

I also have some games in my backlog that I have been meaning to play including Quantum Break, Fallout 3, Dishonored 2, Braid, Deus Ex Mankind, Bloodstained Ritual of the Night, although I don't think I won't have time for those except perhaps for the first one.

I haven't tried, but I'd imagine it must be played on the One as the BC version. I'm pretty sure nothing played on 360 counts over in these promotion things.

Has anyone tried with Superhot for PC? Are the cheevos stackable? And do they count towards this quest?

TFW the stats and article says Old Mans Journey is easy but it was one of your most frustrating completions all year because of one beyond stupid and finicky ach that ruins the entirety of the game.
I just completed it and the achievement you are on about called smooth ride took me about 20 tries, but it only took me 2 hour for the 1000g.

Having read through the article and all the comments I haven't really seen anyone specifically point out one thing that is important to have in mind.

(Well, the information of how it all works is generally there but still I found myself wondering exactly what would happen with any overshooting Gamerscore before you claim the first part of the quest. Figured maybe others are wondering too).

Claim the 500 Reward Points (RP) that activate the rest of the quest as soon as you can. Ideally having earned exactly 500G from eligible games. Anything that overshoots the initial 500G you need will not earn you RP. You will only start earning the RP between 500 - 10 000 from achievements you unlock after you activated the latter portion of the quest.

I thought this happened to me last time we had this quest (didn't hit 500G on the nose and instead went a little above)but I wasn't sure how much total RP I had before I started that time. This time I made a note of how much I had.

Started playing Old Man's Journey and when I got a total of 550 Gamerscore (where the most recently unlocked achievement was worth 150G) I claimed the 500 RP. My total amount of RP increased by 500 and nothing was awarded for the overshooting 50G. It doesn't trigger later when you unlock more achievements either. So after having completed Old Man's Journey earning 1 000G I had earned 950 RP.

Now, I could have been more strategic and left that 150G achievement for later (especially since I had to reload and make several attempts at it anyway) since the next available achievement was worth 100G and would have brought my total to 500G exactly. 50 points here and there isn't a big deal though and I was also curious about what would happen with overshooting points.

Someone who would keep earning GS thinking that everything will count even if you activate the quest later could stand to lose a lot of points though so I just wanted to send out a little warning.

    -------

I'm thinking about playing Quantum Break next. I've been dying to play that and it's been collecting dust in my backlog for a couple of years at least. Which leads me to a question that hopefully someone can answer. Imagine this scenario:

    * You own a physical copy of a game
    * You install and run it from disc
    * The game is also currently a part of Game Pass (and you are a Game Pass member)
    * There are Game Pass Quests tied to this game

Question: can you still complete GP Quests while using your disc version of the game or do you need to have downloaded and installed it via Game Pass instead?

Yes, it's a stupid question and I feel dumb for asking it but it's just that sometimes when it comes to Microsoft and Xbox things are... well, kinda dumb.
Yes even if you use a disc version of the game it still comes up with game pass in the bottom right of the screen when you load the game so it still counts, I can confirm this as it worked for me. Once you have installed from a disc and you have game pass you dont even need to use the disc anymore it will just load the game as it's already on game pass.

Is this actually working for anyone yet? I've got the quest on xbox app, but when i click on it to look at the games it just sends me to the app menu. Plus didn't it last time have a counter of how much you'd scored/earned?
I'm just asking 'cause i don't want to start it and have it not count :D
Same thing is happening for me. The Rewards app is frequently buggy and uncooperative, but I expect it will sort itself out soon.
I had same issue there was no counter to say how much you had but it still counts when u reach 500G the green tick appeared for me, to keep track i old method pen & paper

I disagree. The walkthrough for minit isn't that good at all. Why on Earth the writer does the speed run on play through one is beyond me. There is an actual mode you unlock that guarantees the under 25 turns achievement.
I thought the WT was fine considering you can pause the game's timer and thus knock out the speedrun and the sub 25 lives run at the same time, making the 2nd playtheough take a matter of minutes. He goes for some excess collectibles though. You can leave the coins for post speedrun mop-up by selecting continue. Getting the extra hearts helps the average gamer not die too much on the final boss though.

The bigger problem with the WT is its poor English and the lack of a proper edit during review before publishing. There are a few instances of the author confusing their Right and Left as well, but I've seen that problem in multiple WTs and reviewers cant catch those unless they literally play through the game following the WT which isnt feasible. We review more for grammar and punctuation, and to see if it at least looks to be thorough. Specific content is didficult to review. But overall it was ok just needs some tweaking. WT combined with Bond's YT video made it a sub 2hr completion for me.

Has to be done on the Xbox One, tried it myself and got no progress towards rewards.

WOW I Actually Predicted This Would be a Thing In the future. My thought was you get points by completing the randomly generated game that's assigned to you. But This isn't to far off!

Too Bad I've done most of these
They did this last year as well, pretty easy to predict. Hopefully you didn't take those psychic abilities and waste a bunch if your money on lottery tickets after this.

Iv got a good idea. lets run a promotion that sounds like a big give away but we will make the criteria info pages broken until sometime mid way through it.

It should not even be running till it is fixed.

wow complete an impossible challenge and still not have enough points to redeem just a month game pass.
    Whats ratio?

I guess I'll start Shadow of Mordor now. No chance I finish it in 10 days, but it'll get me something, and that's better than nothing.

Gotta jump between Shadow of Mordor and Strange Brigade, which is leaving soon. Priorities, priorities.

Has anyone got a Backward compatible game achievement to work using the Xbox one bc?
I did 500 in 'old man's journey' to unlock the first part and then the other 500 and everything tracked fine.

I then tried my hand at 'Samurai Shodown II' and 'The King of Fighters '98 Ultimate Match' selected from the My games & apps > Game Pass selections.
I made sure i was Signed In and everything looked/looks fine, i saw achievements pop in game and on the Xbox app on my PC, and they show as unlocked today but did not award any progress.

Then i played Minit and everything works as expected again.
I have a few achievements in Fallout 3 i could trying getting on my Xbone and 360 and see if either works but that will have to wait till tomorrow or the day after.
Edit: also i am trusting the supplied list being accurate since my rewards app doesn't want to show the list of games.

It seems that the points I get from achievements I earned from Fallout 3 are not showing up in Microsoft Rewards as well. That is disappointing since I was actually having fun playing the game.

I think from now on, I will only choose Xbox One games for this quest, not the BC ones.

I am through with the base game for Shadow of Mordor but I still need to finish many of the dlcs as well as some challenges before the 10 day quest period is over.

Fortunately I chose not to do Strange Brigade even after I found out it was leaving. I decided to play ABZU instead from the leaving gamepass list.

Samurai Shodown 2 doesn't work. Just a heads up to anyone thinking of trying that one. I played on my one x and my 360, and none of them added to my rewards points.
