I recall REUS looking decent when it came out but forgot about it till now. Its dang dirt cheap but no forum or clip activity in a long time. So, is it playable? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I enjoyed the game for a bit, but the "crafting" system (for lack of a better term) that is required to upgrade your villages with new plants/animals/minerals is really byzantine, unintuitive and not well explained.
It's really a game that you have to sit there with a tablet or phone open to the game's wiki and pause every few minutes to figure out the recipes that lead to ability + resource = upgrade.
They pitch it as a "have fun and try out different combinations to unlock new things", but in reality, it's a game that you can't possibly progress far without a walkthrough due to randomness of combinations, long upgrade trees, time limits, gatekeeping of abilities actually available to you and very limited space available to actually place resources.
I was enjoying it for a while, but then the game started crashing back to the dashboard menu incessantly at a certain point, which was devastating once I was playing 60-90 minute timed games that I couldn't return to.
That was the point I gave up on it for good and it's so old I don't think it's been supported by the devs for years.
