Connecting to Xbox live

ok this is really weird, I've transferred my gfwl files from my old laptop to my new pc and it now has my profile downloaded however I try to play mortal kombat kollection, I enter my key and still get the same error code when signing into live. Then I tried it with another game, world of goo this time, entered my key and it has signed me into live.

I have no idea why this error code happens.

i think maybe because its such an old game it might be the only way too since the game launcher is now the box dashboard thing.

I can't access the DLC for Fable 3 so I haven't bothered installing it since I won't play it on my tag.

Halo 2, Street Fighter x Tekken, and both Resident Evil games all work fine.

i've started having this error too, been having trouble signing in on bioshock 2 (RU) these last 2 days, formatted my computer today due to a hard drive failure now i can't get my profile at all.

Tried fallout 3, bioshock 2 RU, Gears of war 1. but I've had no luck. about to try halo 2 and just dug out my old copy of RES5.

I suggest everyone concerned to back up their GFWL profile to minimize further losses. Knowing Microsoft and their sickening disregard for older products and minorities, this problem might be here to stay. These are the items to back up:

Restoring these items on a new PC or new Windows install is not foolproof, is not guaranteed to permit every game to sign you in to LIVE (might still get error 80151906), but it should work for most and it's better than nothing.

EDIT: Seems this error is fixed now, but it still wouldn't be a bad idea to keep a backup of your GFWL profile and data.

I was just able to activate my copy of Fable 3 without getting the error.

Edit: Quantum of Solace is working for me too.

I was trying out different keys in my bioshock 2 (RU) when the halo 2 one worked and updated successfully it then spent like 20mins downloading my profile. either a different key works or i guess it was a temporary issue.

Yep this error has been fixed, must of been something on microsofts side, I just entered the same product key I had been getting the error with on mortal kombat and it has signed me into live successfully.

Ok. So everyone is stating that the error is now working/had issues with other games. Can anyone else actually confirm if their copy of viva pinata GFWL actually works now who experiences this issue, as much as I appreciate the help and advice on other games, this is still happening on this game for me. Thanks :)

I'm pretty sure I had Viva Pinata on the GFWL Marketplace which is dead now. I have no way to recover the purchase.

I'm not able to actually check the game in question and see if I get the same issue. Sorry about that

The game works fine for me, yesterday I unlocked some achievements.The game was installed a while ago when I also downloaded my profile, maybe that’s why I didn’t get any erorrs when I signed in.

This game from what i remember has a legacy key so you don't have to get a brand new copy.

Due to Ms removing files/a server this way you can't download the client anymore through the client installer, If you want to install a fresh GFWL client you have to do it with a local installer that allows you do download the client + the files that you had to download through installer.

Thus making GFWL again playable!

Also some games on GFWL don't run at all under modern hardware, for example Lost Planet 2 can only be played on a CPU with less then 5 cores else it wont simply boot.

So the issues you have, could be related to the hardware you use being too good in a way for the game. A bit like how Win10 won't run many of the olders XP Vista and W7 software
