Didn't have this issue, but isn't this the part where you drop the chain in the crushers, and then need to raise the chain again to break the crushers. It could be that you can't exit unless the crushers are broken.

Hi, I've been following your guide to a T so far, but I've just gotten stuck on year 2 on the bit that says:

Go down the stairs into the casino area and interact with Charlie. After talking to him about a Union card, he will give you a VIP pass to the High Roller's Lounge of the racetrack.
When I try talking to Charlie, Mannie just says "I've got nothing to say to him" so I can't progress. Any ideas?

Edit: turns out I had missed talking with Velasco at the start of the chapter because I hadn't stood in the right spot; whenever I tried talking with him Mannie just kept offering him to help with the model boat instead, so I thought that's all he had to say.

Just found an actual really small error in year 2:

When you enter your cafe. Show the 'Lengua #22' card to Lola. After a while, she will hand you Lola's jacket.
You show the card to Lupe, not Lola =)

Yeah, the game can me buggy sometimes if you're not in the right spot. Good that you found out!

    EDIT:
ok. I just had to press one more time to the left/right and up.. sometimes games are stupid :D why couldn't they make it print with the A Button?

    Year 3
    The Sea of Lament

I can confirm just using the third option will work for the achievement. no need to exhaust all the dialogue. just got the cheevo by exiting out of the conversation.

    EDIT:
Also Year 3 at the End

Grab the axe again and move it towards the white tile south-east of the blue tile in the middle of the room, under the sprinkler. Once the axe blade is centered on the white tile, drop it to open a drainpipe. Another cutscene will start.

After the cutscene, it's time for an easily missable achievement. Take out your scythe and use it on Domino a couple of times (took me 9 times) until you are rewarded with:
There is missing the Part on how you get the sunken ship back with the crane. should be added :3

This part is covered earlier in the Walkthrough (year 3). Before you rescue Meche from the vault door.

Leave the crane and go down the conveyor. Once down, use the lever to reverse the conveyor. Interact with the lever again to pile up the chain, and again to hook it over the anchor. Climb on the converyor again and walk out of the water. Enter the crane and operate the chain to pull up the ship out of the ocean.]
I totally missed it. Sorry D:

One thing that would be nice to emphasize in the tips section when talking about the controls is that there's an achievement for playing with the tank controls. I followed the walkthrough's advice and didn't use them and only now realize I'm going to have to do another run-through; would have been nice to have the heads-up.

It's actually on top of the Year 1 page. But I agree it could better be on the Tips page. I have added the note there and the revision is awaiting publication.

Has anyone else run into this problem at the race track kiosk? I have the picture, I've read the sign about Sanspoof and he's told me they give out the hats on Tuesday. But when I print out the ticket (week 2, Tuesday, race 6) and give it to him, he just says how he "can't get enough of these Chowchilla Charlie Charlie originals." (paraphrasing) And then he just walks away. I seem to be stuck.

EDIT: Never mind, I was wandering around aimlessly in that area and found the second ticket kiosk. SMH.

Thanks mate. The guide confused me too, I didn't realize there was a second booth either. I was nearly going to watch a 4hr 100% vid to try and find this spot but you saved me. I think it should be edited into the guide to walk towards the screen for a second booth.

**Edit** lucky I saved when I couldn't figure out the booth. I didn't actually get the photo. It took 2 attempts so it is likely worth checking that you have the new photo before moving on as well

Good suggestion, I have changed it into the following:

Once you have the ticket, interact with the kiosk (Note: don't use the kiosk that is next to the High Rollers Lounge, you need to go around the left of the stairs to find another kiosk) and hand the ticket over to Doug's twin brother. He will hand you the photo that you will swap around for the actual photo-finish picture. You now own the photo of Olivia kissing Nick.

This helped me greatly and was a comment in your solution (Thumbs up on solution too btw).

    Year 3:
Walk towards the little green light on the left so that Glottis will start talking to you. After a while, a guy walks from the left to the right. When the little dude (called Chepito) wearing the lamp is close to you, interact with him and go through the conversation options. If you miss him, wait for a bit and he will eventually turn up again. There's an annoying conversation option where Manny asks if you can tag along with him. I'm not sure if this option is needed for the achievement, but as I accidentally selected it, and got the achievement a little bit later, I can't go back to check. So just do the walk and grab a drink in the meantime. Or sing along, whatever floats your boat (pun intended). After finishing the conversation, you will unlock:
I confirm they aren't all needed. Rewrite it like this to save everyone time:

Walk towards the little green light on the left so that Glottis will start talking to you. After a while, a guy walks from the left to the right. When the little dude (called Chepito) wearing the lamp is close to you, interact with him and go through the conversation options. If you miss him, wait for a bit and he will eventually turn up again. Don't choose any option that says "Go with you". Exhaust the second to last conversation options (the one above saying goodbye to him) and stop talking to him after that to unlock:

    Year 4:
Leave the lighthouse and walk to the left, pas the Sea Bees area and then go straight forward (towards the screen) back to the central hub.
    Should be past

    Year 4:
After the cutscene, you will find yourself show and about to sprout.
    Should be shot

All done now. Great WT man tyvm
Thanks again for all your feedback, I have made all changes and it's awaiting publication :)

The note for the glitch in Year 3 with the crane should be in that part of the walkthrough. Having it in the beginning of the walkthrough is somewhat useful, however if you are like myself and playing it over multiple days you might not necessarily remember or be aware of the exact part this is referencing until it is too late. I have to now play the entire 3rd chapter again because of this. Other then that though this walkthrough has been a big help.

Thanks for the feedback. I have added the glitch info also in page 3, and an extra warning right before that part in the walkthrough.

If you have any suggestions for the 'ship anchor puzzle' that 'didn't make much sense', please let me know so that I can possibly rewrite that part. In year 3, there are two anchor puzzles:

    and
    *** Spoiler - click to reveal ***

Thanks for the updated part regarding the glitch. It could just me that forgets this, I'd usually play this sort of game in 1-2 sittings but couldn't due to the length and 'real life' events that I had to handle, I redid the ship part second time without issues. I think the first time I encountered the part with the anchor I just misread how it should be handled. I'll edit my comment above to reflect this. Great walkthrough overall, much appreciated.

Reporting an issue with Year 3 instructions:
    Grim Fandango Remastered Walkthrough

Raise the right anchor by using the red button on the right-side wall. Leave the left anchor dropped as it already is. Use the levers on the control panel to move the ship to the left. Next, drop the right anchor again, and raise it after that. The left anchor will now be attached to the right one. Look outside the right porthole and use your scythe on the anchor to hook it to the porthole. Now, lower your volume and raise the left anchor.

I tried following this and got stuck because the anchors were not attached. So I went to YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL7tEi4w7AQ) and it looks like the opposite directions are used; ie I ran to the left-side wall button and that worked.
Not sure if I originally made a mistake somehow, but just noting that the YT video has opposite directions and it worked for me, so either it doesn't matter, or the walkthrough has incorrect directions.

Additionally, it's worth noting that I have no idea what the last sentence in the above quote means ("Lower your volume"‽), so clarification may be appropriate.

    Finally...

Once the ship is in two halves, use the control levers to move the ship forward.

This required pulling down on the levers. Up did not work. Again, see YT video for solution.
