Ever get so close to a completion you could smell it, only to find yourself held back by one pesky achievement that takes way longer than it should? Good times. Here are some of the most egregious examples out there...

I'd forgotten I hadn't yet made that one in Beautiful Katamari yet. Need to go back and do that.

Bladder of Steel, however, showed up nice and green for me. :)

Someone told me they were going to add more new horde maps to gears 5. I questioned the legitimacy of this person's claim, but they got upset at me for even questioning it. So if this person was correct, how are ppl already unlocking Seriously Chapter 2? I'm just sincerely asking.

They added three with Operation 8.

Torchlight IIIMonster HunterThe Monster Hunter achievement in Torchlight III worth 333 pointsDefeat 1,000,000 monsters

This one was brutal. After doing everything else at this game requires, you’ll only be a fraction of the way there. It’s a painfully slow grind, maximized at about 1% progress in 45 minutes to an hour. So you’re looking at 80 to 100 hours beyond the other 80 to 100 hours that everything else takes.

Rusty Spout Rescue Adventure500000 BallsThe 500000 Balls achievement in Rusty Spout Rescue Adventure worth 334 pointsPlay in Endless mode and collect 500000 Balls.

This was horrible. The game is terrible to begin with. It’s sort of like a bust a move. Even with a turbo controller, this took me forever. Doing it naturally would take three forevers and a day.

Tetris UltimateTetris® MasterThe Tetris® Master achievement in Tetris Ultimate worth 4947 pointsFor Tetris® Masters only. Earn the Show-off, T-Spinner, and Simply the Best badges.

I love Tetris but this was too much. First of all, online play was dead essentially from launch. And I didn’t get around to working on this game until about a year later. Clearing 100,000 lines in online play required boosting with a dedicated partner (forget finding anyone in random matchmaking) and just playing endless mode over and over and over and over and over and over and over for a couple of hundred hours as I recall. And that slog was only 1/3 of what this achievement required. A second requirement was easy but a third required getting a 20 combo which was separate high skill complication all together.

Some idiot made a guide for Star Renegade when it came out and said it would only take about 200 hours for 100 wins. Absolute clown.

It takes even longer than 500 hours now because when they added new content several months ago they broke the game tracking your kills and wins etc, so most of it doesn't unlock when it should
I came here to eat donuts and drink coffee... and I'm all out of donuts.

I'm only missing the MP wins and 100 hours. The 100 hours could be doable with a rubber-banded controller. The MP wins is a pain because no one played it anymore when I went for it. Problem now is it's not BC, so it will forever sit there without those 2 unlocks.

Rock Band is my favorite series and the endless setlists are some of my fondest memories in achievement hunting! I did Endless Setlist 1 doubling up with expert guitar/vocals, 2 with expert bass, and 3 with expert drums.
    Already in Game Pass.

I've got this one, the Beautiful Katamari one, and the FEAR 2 one. Gotta love it!

Also, I love the Geoff one in Gems of War. I listen to his podcast and he said he gets a lot of hate mail for that. Poor guy just really likes the game and achievements!

Oh, and as far as rhythm games go, the Rock Band achievements weren’t really that bad. At least it was an entertaining endeavor to play through the entire setlists in one go.

Guitar Hero 3, on the other hand, made you grind for crap that wasn’t tracked and just required you to play and play and play and play and play and play until they finally popped.
Guitar Hero III: Legends of RockNever Gonna Spend It AllThe Never Gonna Spend It All achievement in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock worth 69 pointsEarn $350,000 in career lifetime earnings
Guitar Hero III: Legends of RockToo Many to CountThe Too Many to Count achievement in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock worth 78 pointsHit 250,000 notes in Career
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock100 Million!?! Gulp!?!The 100 Million!?! Gulp!?! achievement in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock worth 157 pointsEarn 100,000,000 points total in Career

And don’t even get me started on the absurd grind for the $1mil in GH: World Tour:

Don't know why, but was pleasantly caught off guard to know that I have two achievements from this list:

Rec RoomRec Roomer IISir PaulygonThe Rec Roomer II achievement in Rec Room worth 2389 pointsReach level 50

SUPER BOMBERMAN RDestroyed 1,000,000 BlocksSir PaulygonThe Destroyed 1,000,000 Blocks achievement in SUPER BOMBERMAN R worth 3055 points1,000,000 Blocks Destroyed

While they did take a long time to unlock, it really wasn't that bad. In Rec Room, logged in almost everyday via my iPad at work and set up a script in Bomberman on my oldest Xbox One console.
Don't worry about criticism from people that you wouldn't seek advice from.

Only two games I have here and the rest don't interest me. I have zero interest in playing MK that much just for an achievement, but I still hope to earn Triple Elite one day.
If you have to ask, you're streets behind.

I'd argue Seriously 5.0 Chapter 2 is less grindy than 50,000 assists or 100,000,000 damage.

I did the Bladder Of Steel many years ago but I have pretty much given up on grindy achievements as a whole. I still like completions but I don't have as much time to game these days, so I pick and choose what to spend extra time on to complete.
Looking for a place to happen, making stops along the way.
