Grumpertson has registered their disagreement about the genres applied to this game
I feel "roguelite" should be removed as the game does not have any of the genre characteristics.
As mentioned in the above dispute, the game is broken into dungeons in which if you die in one, you have to restart that specific dungeon. You will lose anything picked up in that dungeon. However you do keep all the upgrades and equipment you went into the dungeon with.
The game also has no procedural generation in the level design, enemy placement nor treasure placement. Every time you repeat a dungeon, it is exactly the same as it was the previous time (I ran some tests on a few of the levels up to graveyard and saw no variation when restarting them several times).
The only mechanics the game has to introduce any kind of variability run to run is that within a dungeon, after X kills you get to pick 1 of 3 random buffs for that dungeon only. The enemies also drop randomized loot, but that's pretty standard in most genres with loot mechanics.
I feel that the game has some very clear inspiration from Rogue Legacy (as seen in the games upgrade system), which is likely where the name comes from. Much like the game Akinofa, it seems like the game's marketing is using a persistent upgrade system often used in roguelike games to claim roguelite/roguelike elements without actually having any roguelite/roguelike elements.
Anyway, that's my ramble. I just don't want to see anyone else pick this game up expecting it to be something it is not. Thanks genre team!
