Sniper Elite 5 review round-up

Lot's of positive comments. I like the idea of a new venue as well. Afghanistan would be a very interesting theater to explore...

I love it, but I have one really small gripe with it. And that’s that is because you can’t choose who to invade. I would’ve loved if I could invade my friends and bully them, but you can only do randoms ):

Just a random thing to say, but Game Pass is already a success for this game. Never played a Sniper Elite but since it's on Game Pass I'm going to play it. Just started it actually.

Wait for a patch I think on this one. Reload bug is a pain if you don't have another ammo type to switch to and thats a problem on authentic as you lose the ammo in the clip and I've seen some other stuff to like climbing nets and not being able to go over the top.

Having played it for a few hours last night it just feels like more of the same, albeit with slightly improved level design. The movement is still janky as hell, getting up and down ledges and ladders can be almost comical at times; picking up things at close range from locations such as safes becomes a game of 'get your cursor in exactly the right place', and the AI is still dumb as rocks. Any game which you can do the old, hide in one room and pick everyone off as they run in not noticing the bodies piled up in front of them needs serious polish.

Don't get me wrong, sniping is still as fun and satisfying as ever, but there seems to be much more emphasis on close quarter combat in this one and less on those satisfying sniper spots with masked sound. Having it free on Gamepass is great, but if I'd shelled out 50 notes on it I would be feeling a little short changed.

is it worth opening to do 100%? the last one was kind of tricky to complete.

Played it today for the first time. Like the new Survival game mode, although a tank glitched and wouldn't come into the battlefield. Last enemy on the last wave and it wouldn't move. There was no way to destroy it, so we all sat there for a while and accomplished nothing. Then tried to kill it but we all died. Was no way to get to the weak spot and not enough Panzer or nades. Sad the glitch happened but so far a great game.

I haven't played this yet because I'm still trying to finish Sniper Elite 4.
How I am reading these reviews though is that it's more of the same series, just with more close combat instead of sniping shots, correct? If so, that's not too bad as I love the formula, though I prefer the crazy shots you have to try and make over close combat.

Also, I don't know if it would be good or bad, but it would be awesome to me to see the series allow you to control famous Snipers throughout history and show real newsreels, kind of like the original Call of Duty games. Simo Häyhä "White Death", Chris Kyle, Vasily Zaytsev, or even change to a woman like Lyudmila Pavlichenko (not gonna lie, I just found out about her).
