Lol, they're TOTALLY gonna shut down the 360 store in a matter of months. It's so obvious, with all these games going up for sale on 360 all the time now. They're pushing it HARD
Why would they do that? BC Xbox 360 games still sell even on Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles.

It is not like Playstation where PS3 games cannot be downloaded and played on PS5 consoles and therefore rarely sell.
Um, the Xbox One versions can be purchased from the Xbox One store. They were talking about Xbox 360 store. It’s got to go, just a question of when.

10 games on my wishlist. None of the discounts really stand out. Longer list so I’ll check it out on pc later this week and decide what to snag. Not gonna do this beast on mobile.

Skimming the list though this looks better than the Ultimate sale and that’s sad. Although I wound up picking up Guardians of the Galaxy in that sale to get me over the $40 for 4000. It was $30 then and $55 now so not everything is better

Anyone in Australia is your version of Saints Row IV: Re-elected on sale? If it is I’d be willing to send someone some cash to gift it to me, I started it in GP to use the one achievement for time consuming for an event then tried to blast through it before it left but didn’t get it finished in time
You cannot gift games to a different region. You are better off adding some AU$ to your account and buying it yourself.

I don't know about that. Xbox CEO Spencer promised to keep on supporting and preserving their older Xbox catalog so what you are saying goes against that particularly those games that were never made back compatible and only accessible on the Xbox 360 which they still have sales for occasionally for some games.

Then clearly nobody at Microsoft was listening to Phil when support for all Windows Phone Xbox games was dropped earlier this year. Same goes for the backward compatibility team, who stopped working on preserving games. And the GwG team who aren’t even repeating older Xbox games after next month.

The best we can hope for is they roll out an update for the Xbox 360 console that enables it to connect to the Xbox One store, and they make all the Xbox 360 store content available on the Xbox One store. But that is a significant piece of work for a console they haven’t sold in 6 years.

I’m sure they are monitoring non-BC game purchases, and once it falls below a threshold (say 10,000 games per year) then they will announce the closure. A years notice would be nice!

You can, just change your region to accept the gift.

CODE VEIN Deluxe Edition is an absolute steal. This is the Deluxe version that usually goes for 79.99 USD or equivalent. This sale discounts it 85% to 11.99 USD.

The Windows Phone didn't sell well and was discontinued relatively quickly. I don't think there were games made exclusively for that platform that would be affected when they decided to stop supporting it. That is not the case with the Xbox 360.

MS wanted to continue the BC program. Spencer mentioned that there were technical, legal and licensing reasons why they couldn't add anymore games to the program and then called on the industry to do a better job of preserving older games.

MS and Sony have very different philosophies. MS as a long time Windows PC publisher is very much aware of the importance of preserving older games for future gamers to enjoy. They have even tried to keep servers for their first party Xbox 360 games open as much as possible.

Sony's console philosophy is very different. To them older consoles are just an economic drag they prefer to get rid off as soon as they can. They even tried closing the PS3 store early this year until negative media and fan feedback forced them to postpone that decision. They also close servers for their older console first party games faster than Ubisoft and other third party publishers have in some instances before the current generation is even finished(e.g. Driveclub).

The big difference is that the head of Xbox is a gamer himself who appreciates the importance of preserving their legacy games that he once played. Sony on the other hand is run by business executives who make their decisions based on short term profitability.

I picked up Nexomon. Looks like a good deal based on price and that rating for it from the community.

Well another week gone and still no Goat Simulator DLC sale... It's been on sale every other month on PS and I've been waiting for 2.5 years for it to go on sale again for XB1...

Gamers are fortunate Microsoft put a person like Phil in charge of Xbox. It will grow brand loyalty.

Keeping a 17 year old system running that is only used by a minority of your customers isn’t cost effective. Windows Server 2012 R2 goes out of support next year, which is a massive headache for me. I cannot permit internet connections to those servers after that. If the Xbox 360 store is running on an OS nearing end of life, Microsoft will have a similar problem. You might assume you can upgrade the OS, but that is not always the case.

When they do close the Xbox 360 store, they still need to provide purchase history downloads - for we would hope at least 5 years, but 20 would be nice. Closing the 360 store will not stop people from buying the games on disc. And games like Forza Motorsport 4 were never available from the store anyway.

I noticed on the Xbox 360 web site that Microsoft state content is no longer supported - https://support.xbox.com/en-US/help/xbox-360/games/backward-...

However Windows Phone was around for over 20 years, and before the iPhone was invented.

RE Village went down to only 25% discount not 50% when I tried to purchase it. So no thanks this time around to much to play anyway. Still looking forward to it.
