I understand that some games have pre-order bonuses, or maybe early access, but I feel like most don't. And unlike with physical games, there isn't a limited supply to go around. So there really isn't a reason to pre-order digital in most cases

personal preference though isn't it? People might game share and be excited for a new game so they have secured it to play bang on midnight (in most cases) or maybe a game comes out near Christmas time, Its an expensive time of the year so being able to pre order it months in advance while you have the money might be suited to some people too

For any PC players who have started it, how did you like it? Good game?

I was actually looking forward to farting around in this game. Oh well, until then there’s a rat plague I need to stop starting next week!

It's pretty much just a generic Civilization clone. If you like Civ, you'll like Humankind. Lots of broken achievements however and the devs have shown no interest in fixing them since release so that's a big downside on that front.

Its definitely not just a generic Civ clone, it has quite a lot of differences. Its interesting but had a rough launch with a lot of issues from a clear lack of budget and playtesting, since then the devs have primarily focused on improving the gameplay which takes priority over fixing a couple broken achievements. I haven't played in a few months but I believe there was/is a major patch that overhauled a number of the game systems and made it a lot better.

Which I can understand but you could do that a week before release. No need to pre-order months in advance, when a delay is still very possible.
