Can’t load game after 60 hours

    Unsure what’s happened but have had serious problems with the performance of this game. Installed from game pass internally on my Series X and can’t get past the spinning hourglass anymore, gets about 1/3 the way. Main save at approximately 60hours with only rep level 15 and philosophers salt left. No way am I starting again with all the other bugs and UI issues.

    Only thing I could think was I opened the customisation menu for the shape which glitches to show two overlays, then pulled up the potions menu from the LT hot bar. Then pressed start to try and save and quit and seemed to have broken something when it tries to load where I was.

    It seems as though you have a finite amount of time currently to complete the game in. I couldnt tell if it was the more you save or just play in general but the game seems to have a big problem with storing/retrieving data, at least at the moment. I finished my run at about 36 hours with saving maybe 15 or so times and it was still taking around about 30 seconds to open the save and load menus.

    The whole saving and loading system started to take much longer than usual at some later point of my game and it gradually took even longer later, so I predicted at some future point my game won't be capable of normal saving and loading anymore, then I switched to PC, luckily the game supports Play Everywhere and I got my saves transferred intact. And then the situation was exactly the same on my PC, as each time when I saved it forced the game to create multiple new manual saves. Seems the game will mess up after a certain number of saves or by unknown factors, if you don't reduce your save times there is a considerably high possibility for you to waste your playthrough. A possible solution to this is to save your game much less frequently at the moment, you need to be very careful and know what to do to complete your playthrough. My completion time was nearly 44 hours, I believe the frozen time of this matter took an hour or two.

    EDIT: The game cannot launch on my XSS anymore after I switched to PC

    I might try on PC to see if that helps but yeah I noticed saving would take almost a minute just to load the menu to overwrite a save and it was getting worse and worse.

    Things like opening the Xbox menu over top of the game would freeze any control for roughly a minute too. No idea how it got on gamepass with all the current issues.

    Seems that changing to PC worked fine and many of the UI issues are fixed. Would recommend anyone who can just play this on PC instead.

    I’m only 20 hours in and had this problem on series s. Pop up at the start said there’s was no more room for save data (it’s only at 15MB) and the game wouldn’t load past the hourglass. Deleting local saves and redownloading the cloud saves worked.

    Tried deleting individual saves in game but returning to the save menu brings them all back.

    Congrats! When I switched to PC, my loading and saving situation was exactly as the same as when I was playing on my XSS, no improvement at all. Seems Playing on PC doesn't avoid or fix the saving and loading problem. Anyone playing PC didn't encounter this problem?

    Yeah the overgrowing of saves is the cause of the problem I think, I tried all saves I didn't need but all deleted saves got revived once upon loading. This game definitely needs a patch

    I have a similar problem, I start the game and the hourglass is not even half full and the game crashes. I already uninstalled it, restarted the console and it seems that it remains the same, the only thing I want is not to lose my saves and have to repeat everything after having invested hours...

    I'm having the same trouble. Went through all the typical trouble-shooting, but it still won't load. A few days ago, it prompted me to choose between cloud and console save, and only the console option would work. I deleted the saved data for the game, but it still sends me back to my home page without loading. Hopefully the coming update will fix this.

    I've found a fix for my game:

    My xbox wasn't overwriting or deleting save files and the game was getting progressively worse. I downloaded to my computer through game pass.

    %appdata%\Local\Packages\tinyBuildGames.PotionCraftPreview_3sz1pp2ynv2xe\SystemAppData\wgs\

    Inside that folder will be some folders with really long names as hexadecimal numbers. In one of them is another, and in that should be your saves. They aren't saved as their savegame names so you'll have to sort through them by date if you want to delete specific ones.

    After deleting all but the most recent game file it worked great on both my Xbox and PC and it started allowing me to save over old files.

    I have had the same problem for 2 hours now, it no longer loads and the game closes. I only have Xbox and no PC! How can this be solved?

    Same problem for me, more than 47 hours played, and 5 achievements left....
    I Tryed to send an E-mail to the devs (niceplay games) but the mail does not want to go, I don't know why..
    I hope they are aware of this problem and they'll solve it with an update :/

    Yeah. Weird stuff. Xbox isn't loading from the install either (after around 30 hours gameplay). I see others have also tried on Cloud without success. Mine did work on Cloud gaming but it was jumping pretty badly. I lost a lot of creds trying to haggle. I uninstalled most of the saved games but it still won't work on the install. Maybe others might have better success on Cloud. Otherwise, no pc so I'll have to wait for the patch update 😔

    This is the correct answer. Downloaded WizTree to find the saved files on my PC and deleted them. Working fine again now.

    I'm 15 hours into the game and not looking forward to this freeze glitch. I'm a bit of a paranoid saver, so I feel like I'm accelerating the problem watching that Load Game list get longer.

    They posted that a patch came out today. Anybody have any luck with it fixing the issues?

    I also tried again with the update. Had uninstalled it before, hoping to get a fresh start. At this point, I'm willing to restart the game itself just to play again. Does anyone know if they've been made aware that the update didn't fix this issue? Anybody on their Discord?
