I had Starfield as my second favorite game of the year after Alan Wake 2
That is interesting, was the crossbow gone?

Starfield isn't in my top five, even top ten games of the year. I guess some will continue drinking the Todd Howard Kool-Aid. I am just glad it was on Game Pass and I didn't waste $89.99.

Starfield was a ok game at best no way GOTY material but ok as was just bit bland i got 1000g on it and was bit boring at the end and the game was bit lifeless.

    worthy unlike Starfield
How would you know Starfield is unworthy, if you've never unlocked an achievement for it or played it?

    These people...smh

Dude just like many others, I have a secondary account of which I use to test games, so any of the achievements dont pop up on my main account laugh granted I can say I didnt play Starfield for hundreds or hours but enough to see that by no way it was worthy of being even considered as GOTY. Not bad game but nowhere near the best of what 2023 had to offer

It's the GamePass phenomenon. With only one exception, ever since 2019, we have had the GamePass pretenders end up with GOTY rather than one of the legitimate contenders. The sole exception that was able to overcome the GamePass tyranny was Elden Ring in 2022.

Interesting that Starfield beats Alan Wake when people are voting for GOTY, and not against it.
I'm not shitting on Starfield (haven't even played it yet) but the reason it won is based mostly on the high number of gamers.

If 5 % of Starfield players voted for it, Alan Wake 2 wouldn't win even if 50 % of its gamers voted for it instead. And if Starfield's number was 10 %, then AW2 would need all its gamers plus phantom votes.
Yeah, can see this having some accuracy. AW2 is more of a horror genre and will have fewer players, where Starfield is more just exploration and will have a lot broader audience. Doesn't mean it is better. Both games are great on their own. AW2 has MUCH better story, better gameplay mechanics as well. IMHO. Much better character development, and the way that it interlaces with their other games in the same shared world is just so cool. I need to get back to Starfield and finish it...and possibly try the DLC out.
