Rhyolitic said:Well, see, the problem is that the Windows versions are different achievement lists from the console versions. I've already started them on console (bean dive) and would like to finish them there. Yes, I have the disc versions, but the digital versions just run so much faster and I don't gotta get my sad, lazy ass up to put in the disc.
I see. If I were you, I’d bite the bullet. Both
Final Fantasy XIII-2 &
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII have been substantially discounted since you bought the disc versions. So, even though they are not actually on sale, you can view buying them as a de facto sale.
The Windows versions of
FF XIII &
Lightning Returns play very much the same as the original console editions. Unfortunately, there is a significant difference between Windows & Console versions of
FF XIII-2. In the Windows version, you can only play the Lightning, Sazh, & Snow story DLCs along with the Colosseum battles,
AFTER you have finished the story & started post-game play. In the console versions, the episode & battle DLCs are available upon entering the Historia Crux upon the conclusion of episode 1.
For someone like me who is averse to post-game play—I feel it detracts from the immersive experience—the difference is huge. Although there are no achievements associated with the DLC, I derived great satisfaction from completing the 3 DLC story episodes & beating all Colosseum opponents
BEFORE completing Episode 2. I did so as many times as was necessary to obtain their crystals.
This allowed me to run through the rest of the game like a hot knife through butter with a kick-ass paradigm pack. My standard approach was to use Lightning COM from the
Requiem for a Goddess episode, Lightning RAV from the
Operation XIII-2 Colosseum battle, & Snow Sen from the
Perpetual Battlefield episode. For specialists, I could substitute any of the above for Jihl Nabaat (my favorite SAB), Sazh SYN, Gilgamesh COM, Valfodr RAV, & others.
Sadly, in the FF XIII-2 Windows version, one must wait post-game. Completing all DLC challenges during Episode 2 is extreme gaming. Doing so post-game is a cake walk. It was doubly disappointing because I’d just completed
Allgorhythm's achievements in Final Fantasy XIII (Windows) without having to resort to post-game play & was looking to do likewise with FF XIII-2. I documented the tougher fights in a playlist. Very immodestly, I must say it’s a thing of beauty
