Outer Wilds is an incredible game. Probably gonna need a guide to get it all figured out but it's so good.

One Step From Eden gets my highest recommendation. An action roguelite with Mega Man Battle Network-style combat, it's nonstop fast paced gameplay where success comes from skill instead of luck and planning that other rpg roguelikes. With 8 different characters offering different playstyles and each character having extra loadouts for even more options, there's a lot of variety to keep you engaged.

I like the game so much that I bought it after completing it on Game Pass and return to it periodically when I need some instant action.

Have to admit, I'm intrigued to try Balatro!

no no no no no using a guide for outerwilds would go against the whole point! playing it is a one in a lifetime chance and there's no easy way to get the achievements, so i'd recommend just enjoying it, whenever you're stuck just fly your ship elsewhere, its really not that hard of a game if you sit down and think about the puzzles you'll figure em out :) DLC's just as good its called Echoes of the Eye

Good list. Some others I enjoyed – in no particular order – were Inscryption, Limbo, Super Meat Boy, Hollow Knignt, Death’s Door, and Tunic. It’s kind of hard to define what constitutes an “indie” game, though.

Great list, enjoyed reading this. I would have also stuck Tunic on the list. I have never experienced such wonderful "eureka" moments in any other game. Particularly when I finally grasped the golden door at the end. So glad I didn't just look up what to do when stuck and persevered because, when the penny finally dropped the feeling was magnificent

Where is A hat in Time? Probably the greatest 3d platformer on xbox at the moment.

    Balatro #2? lol
Almost feels like someone just got addicted and then came to write an article.
Quality > Quantity. GS means nothing! Completing games should be fun, not feel like it’s work. I’ll 100% only the games that I love. @oVORTEXo

Yeah, arguably Dead Cells is a better pick than Hades, if only barely.

Sadly there’s a outstanding games that just no one has played, top of my list is Othercide, I would add Obey Me but it’s been tragically delisted. Othercide, though, is an absolute masterpiece of painful decision making and discovering how enemies, especially bosses, act.

And people have played it but I never understood why The Riftbreaker doesn’t get more love. Honorable mention to the Subnautica games which go from hauntingly beautiful to pants wetting terror in about .5 seconds, Below Zero having much less terror than the original, though perhaps a more relatable story.

The Last Campfire is better than all of these, in my opinion, for personal reasons. As far as the merit of the game itself, I think it would still fit nicely on this list with the others, such as Spiritfarer, which I think was an incredible game that was genuinely touching. Cuphead and Outer Wilds are also two of my other favorites.

The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe was pretty disappointing imo, unless I haven't come across more extra content yet, the main addition is a much of metahumor concerning the steam reviews.

The Last Campfire is genuinely very good. I don’t think I put it in the same class as Spiritfarer but considering it’s on sale all the time for about $3 it’s a steal as far as the quality is concerned. Many on this site will play it with a guide but I feel that’s unnecessary. I got stuck on one puzzle and quickly found the solution on youtube. It’s not a hard game but the story is mildly abstract/fill in the blanks, so people who hate that might not like it.

It's okay if you would put different games on the list, there's no right or wrong answer. Enjoying people sharing their recommendations.
