All amazing games, but I question the use of the term 'Indie games' when a large number of these games are backed by multi-million (and in some cases, billion) dollar companies.

Outer Wilds is an incredible game. Probably gonna need a guide to get it all figured out but it's so good.
no no no no no using a guide for outerwilds would go against the whole point! playing it is a one in a lifetime chance and there's no easy way to get the achievements, so i'd recommend just enjoying it, whenever you're stuck just fly your ship elsewhere, its really not that hard of a game if you sit down and think about the puzzles you'll figure em out :) DLC's just as good its called Echoes of the Eye
I only used a guide near the end, to find all the computer entries I missed once I did everything else. You definitely want to go into the game blind. Don't recall anything being missable.

Outer Wilds quickly became my favorite game of all time. Such an amazing game, start to finish.

I would love to see articles like this of hidden gems within the category. These games are great, but they're the indies we always hear about.

A solid list, you cant add all of them. Cocoon is on my radar but playing through Cuphead now and although it is very challenging, it is a great game.

I agree to go in blind but for 100% completion of getting all the notes and things you'll want a guide to mop up.

Vampire Survivors is so much fun. I held off forever despite the hype because I looked at a video and didn't care for the graphics or the look of the gameplay. I finally caved and it instantly sucked me in amd became my addiction, now I eagerly await each dlc and update.

The only two on the list that I have played are Sea of Stars and The Outer Wilds.

I absolutely agree that there's no right or wrong answers here.
I'm sure these are all great games.

But a list with 14 items and no Tunic?
Just make it 15 guys 🤣

Good list. Some others I enjoyed – in no particular order – were Inscryption, Limbo, Super Meat Boy, Hollow Knignt, Death’s Door, and Tunic. It’s kind of hard to define what constitutes an “indie” game, though.
True--indie is too wide of a term.

The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe was pretty disappointing imo, unless I haven't come across more extra content yet, the main addition is a much of metahumor concerning the steam reviews.
there's a lot you have not seen, then

For my money, Return of the Obra Dinn is the best indie on Xbox.

Think it’s strange to include Slay the Spyre and Balatro and not include Monster Train(in my opinion the best of those 3).

I understand the love Sea if Stars gets, but I don't understand why everyone consider it better than Chained Echoes. Both play in the same 16-bit SNES jrpg league, but while the former is prettier the combat is really tiring after a couple of hours and never is a challenge whilst the later is maybe a a notch 'uglier' but story, exploration and gameplay are better.
    Very solid list overall

I've only really played Stardew and some Cuphead. I tried Celeste but it didn't stick for me.

Really want to try Balatro. I feel like as soon as I buy it it's going to be announced for gamepass laugh

I'm glad people are adding to the list in the comments. I'll be able to come back to this list to see some others inputs and play those games. Here are a few additions....

    Astroneer
    Moonlighter
Cult of the Lamb (haven't finished on xbox but have on Switch)
Dead Cells (someone already mentioned it, but a must play!)
    The Ascent
    Firewatch
Surviving Mars (not sure if it's considered an indie)
    Rogue Legacy
