There's a 90% off 'just for you' sale on Forza Horizon 4 Ultimate Edition. I think the prerequisite for it might be if you own the DLC but not the game itself.
They promised everyone will get the game for free, so they better deliver on that as I pass up this chance to buy it.
No, not everyone will get it for free, only if you bought DLC in the past and only if you fullfill some additional critera.
You probably should have gotten it by now, if not I would assume you won't.

    Their terms:
"If you purchased DLC for Forza Horizon 4 and a fully paid Xbox Game Pass subscription before June 25th, 2024 you will receive a game token for Forza Horizon 4 Standard Edition completely free starting June 25th, 2024.
    • Game tokens are sent through Xbox Message Center.
    • Free DLC does not qualify as a purchase for the game token.
    • DLC must be purchased from Microsoft to qualify. DLC purchased from other retailers such as Steam, or sites that sell codes do not qualify for the token.
    • DLC purchased during a sale or on discount from Microsoft does qualify for the token."

I bought the DLC via a code site, not via the store, so I'm sure that's why I didn't get it.
Do all of these apply to you? Otherwise I'd use the sale, just to make sure.
I purchased both DLCs from the Microsoft store.

I used to pay $39.99 a month for GPuff. But when Microsoft scrapped GPuff they sent me a code for 2 years of GPU. I wonder if they have screwed me out of the game.

Can anyone on TA confirm they have received their code? Would be a great Poll for TA to run.

Hmm in the comment before yours, it was mentioned that they might be distributing the codes till August 22nd, if that's the case, there is still a lot if time left.

I can but hope, although it means passing up on this sale. However that date comes from a Reddit/MS Helper/Ambassador. It is suspiciously the date the last FH4 Series ends, so I just think co-pilot regurgitated that.

With Forza Horizon 4 entering end-of-life status, Playground is ending the Festival Playlist. The final Festival Playlist, Series 77, starts on July 25 and will run through to August 22.

Man if you want those Festival Playlist achievements you’re going to need to be done with the tutorial section (which is long) and be somewhat leveled in variously racing categories. Not to mention you’ll need several decent qualifying vehicles from whatever category the seasonal events require, a weekly tuner, and to know how to drive.

I would suggest one cannot do that in 3 days starting on the 22nd.

You definitely can. I did the tutorial in nine hours and I was slow since I haven't had experience with driving games in over ten years. You don't even have to win most of the races there (I didn't know that).

Cars won't be an issue even if you only have the base game since the game hands them out generously. DLC helps though for sure, many great cars there for free.

For driving, I'd recommend checking out some videos on Youtube. They helped me a lot. The game's not that hard really. Drifting is the most difficult thing and that's not needed for seasons I believe. (There are some amazing solutions on TA for that though.)

One of the events this week requires a very specific type of Toyota, and you'd better buy it from the shop and get a tune because you'll have no chance against the AI with the stock car they give you. The cars the game gives you for free may not be enough, you may need some money to spend.

With the sheer amount of stuff the game throws at you, it's very easy to go down a rabbit hole and spend your time inefficiently. I really wouldn't leave it until next Thursday if you're new to the game, use these next few days to familiarise. Have a go at each event in the current season so you know what's expected. Read the solutions for the things that will be discontinued and understand what they map to in the game.

Yeah if an event requires S1 Track Toys you’re probably okay. If an event requires S2 of certain classes of car you’d better have a Lambo Centarino or equivalent. That or you’re going to be spending hours trying to beat a single event.

The game does hand out a crapton of cars, but not all of them are good cars nor can they be tuned to be competitive in certain races. There’s 20+ car classifications and these can be combined with other restrictions, like Hot Hatches from the UK, or 2010s Modern Sports Car, meaning there’s very few options available out of the game’s 700+ cars.

Not to mention some weekly PR stunts are pretty tight and will be nearly impossible without specific super cars like the Koenigsegg Jesko, because it can be tuned in specific ways. Also there’s winter season…

Also you’ll need credits and while it doesn’t take long to amass more than you’ll ever need, it might take more than 3 days. If you have to buy a 500,000 CR car and pay 80,000 CR for a tune for a single event that might be close to tapping a very new player out until they play for a few more hours.

Finally Drivatars (game AI) cheats for the first 1/3 of any race and it does take practice to learn how to handle that. On easy Trial weeks you might luck out and get carried but the other 3 race events are all on you and must be done vs Highly Skilled Drivatars. Racing something like C Class Renault Clios can be pretty tough, the cars don’t have a lot of power and hard to spot mistakes will put you too far behind 1st place to ever catch up.

Yes, please. There is 3 of us now waiting for the price to drop. Lazy 10% off is not a good deal.

Just wish I could get a physical Limited Collector’s Edition similar to the one for Alan Wake: https://imgur.com/a/p4gpIxn

I’d bought the game when it was released & picked up the Collector’s Edition when it came out. I’d intended to keep it in its shrink-wrap as shown in the photo. However, when the game was selected as the very first TA Playlist game, I opened it up in honor of the occasion.

I love that collector's edition and have the second one pre ordered for its own version
