ImALoreNerd said:This definitely feels like something I can dump hours into but it’s either a me issue or the game because the handling the truck is rough. It took a bit to figure out how to align the truck in just the right way for the maglock to enable for docking just to have the same issue picking up cargo. I may restart on the casual difficulty just to get used to truck handling before going to recommended.
It's not just you. I'm 8 hours or so in now and only just getting better at it. I still struggle backing into anything and always pick up/drop cargo moving forwards rather than reversing.
I am really enjoying it *but* it certainly has issues. The tutorial teaches the very bare minimum and whilst there is a user manual of sorts, you kinda just discover things on the fly. For instance last night, I blacked out due to lack of Oxygen. I had no hull breaches and everything had power. Turns out I needed a new air filter.
I do think the replacement parts are very expensive given how often you run out of them. A new air filter is anywhere from 2.5k to 4k in some places and you ideally need 4 running at a time or you burn through them too quick. Add on top of that needing to have enough power cells on you to keep all your systems running, as well as buying fuel and repairing your ship and you run out of that nice $4k you just made very quick. There are custom options to improve your power and stuff but I dno if they affect achievements and considering I'm playing on what is the recommended difficulty it's very brutal.
Two tips for anyone early on in the game. 1) "Story" missions for the named characters give either no pay or very little. Do not hoof it across 3-4 sectors to do one without at least taking some cargo with you or you are burning through your resources too quick.
2) Don't bother with the "Just in Time" missions other than for the achievement related to it. Time only advances rapidly when you move through a jump gate. So you find yourself sat around more often than not, waiting for time to pass at a snails pace. Very boring and again, chews through your power.
