There can't be that big of an audience for yet another Idle-type game, right?
Looked up Steam Achievements (it's called Grim Clicker there) and they're definitely gonna update the achievement list on Xbox to the same extent, so the completion will get way harder and will appeal a lot for in game purchases.
That's my guess.
Desert Water Games is a GS publisher. While what you said could be true, it would not be a very wise business decision. To risk alienating even a small portion of the community could be disastrous for them.
I see the point you're trying to make, but I don't think they will come up with a different list of achievements, the best we could hope is that they stop updating the game.
Also, I think its kinda fair that they try to make people buy in game currency with money, as the game is free and have quite some easy gamerscore, in the end would just be a pain for those who care about 100%, which are not everyone.
Searched DPS Idle on Steam and it looks even worse than Grim, I suggest we brace ourselves for the future ☠️
Looked up DPS idle on TrueSteam and its achievement list is vastly different from the XBOX version. Some are the same but the Steam version is brutal. Probably safe to say Grim Idle will follow this same formula and it will continue to fatten their shovelware portfolio.
You are right, thanks for pointing this out, the achievements on Xbox for DPS Idle are way easier.
We can't say for sure what they'll do in the future for both games, but now I'm less concerned about it.
Steam has a tradition of adding Steam achievements for absolutely anything, Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms (an absolutely NOT shovelware idle game) does the same thing. Idle games are generally F2P and have constant updates to keep veteran players engaged. Idle Champions, for example, has what amounts to in game Accolades. On Steam where the cost of making these achievements is effectively trivial they make a new achievement for every Accolade, but on console and other places where it’s a big deal they do not.
A good idle game will constantly evolve and will cater to casuals that just play with the rule of cool and the kind of people who will break out an online spreadsheet to min mac everything and hit every ideal break point for every ability and nuance. It also needs to support those that engage a lot or those that fire and forget and come back a week later to set new runs or activities.
I have no earthly idea if that’s how Grim Idle will go, but I’ve played Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms for 6 years now and it has a wild amount of content. At a minimum guess there is 4-5 times the amount if content that it launched with. There’s so many new Accolades they had to revamp the Accolade system, but there’s no new XBox Achievements.
