New DiRT 3 Trailer

    DC Compound Gymkhana

    Codemasters have released a new trailer for their new rallying game DiRT 3. The sequel to DiRT 2 includes the brand new Gymkhana mode, inspired by Ken Block, who has racked up over 90 million views in a series of videos showcasing his Gymkhana skills. The official DiRT 3 channel on Youtube describes Gymkhana mode as "a new kind of awesome":

    The gymkhana mode lets you unleash your inner hoonigan as you perform stunts and jumps in purpose built arenas. Express yourself in freestyle sessions or complete courses by performing spectacular stunts, racking up combos and chaining style points. You can also play or compete in online multiplayer and become a gymkhana stars by uploading your most spectacular runs direct to YouTube. Welcome to Gymkhana -- a new kind of awesome.
    The trailer has been captured completely from in-game footage and showcases precision powerslides, huge jumps, high-speed slaloms and donuts in very tight spaces:

    Nice skills and stuff but this video just demo's the part of the game that i'm afraid is going to suck.

    The nice thing about Dirt was that this racing game wasn't just another forza / gt5 crap almost every racing game does. With the same tracks over and over again. Dirt was special, like racing through a jungle and dirty roads.

    This demo, and the big focus of those trailers lately are just about a square were the action happends, not on hundreds of miles or road. I really hope that this square thing is just 1 minute of gameplay for the game, because I'm not interested in just drifting around and making some donuts. I want to race!

    I've always preferred the laid back approach of the DIRT series and GRID as well, FORZA is a beast in it's own right but it requires people with the same amount of dedication for it to be competitive, hence my inclination to this genre of racing, part arcade part simulation, it easy to pick up but u still need to have skills to come out on top .....its perfect =]
