Uhh, looks like I'll have to put Windows 8 on my PC at some point then. I just installed it on a virtual machine last night and didn't really care for it. I just hope that they eventually add party chat support. With the current GFWL setup, you can only private chat.
You will be able to install the entire system on a virtual machine if you want to. Obviously, you'd have to buy this one but if you don't want to replace Windows 7, you don't have to. Also, a lot of people seemed to over look the fact that Win8 had a desktop the same as all the previous Windows. I didn't play around in the settings but I heard the beta didn't let you switch to a default. But it is in there!

How dare they allow Arc System Works to bring one of their older games to Windows 8? The jerks!
-Paul Acevedo, WPCentral - and Co-Optimus, yo!

I'm aware of the desktop on Win8. I just don't know how well more graphic intense games will run in a virtual machine. I'll probably just mess around with it in a virtual machine until I finish the GFWL games I have installed on Win7. I'm definitely not trying to download and install all those again.

Everyone - boycott Glu games. They take your money happily, but don't give a shit about support. Subhuman scum.

    "Does not equal"
    Ohhhh thanks man.
Actually it does equal, if your on the Preview it says that the games able to be paused and continued on the WP8 and Windows 8 Operating System.
    Bad times

I thought the original question was Windows Phone 7 => Windows 8 & devices? That's what I was going with anyways.

Actually it doesn't. What was said was Windows Phone 8 is not Windows 8. That is true. It's like Windows Phone 7 and Windows 7. They have the same number (and in 8's case, share a UI), but they won't run each other's apps and programs.

Most of the hate I've seen from real hardcore users has nothing to do with the Metro layout. But less control over file paths.

Come on we all know that some programs can bug out if there are too many characters in the path to open the program. Such as one of those popular free Word processors would bug up if the path was over 53 characters long. That kind of stuff happens alot. Or some of us just really want to put things where we want to.

I understand that it makes everything seem easier for the computer inept but if anything it just makes everything more difficult if something goes wrong. Until they change that, amongst a few other things, I'll never be sold on Windows 8.

If they've fixed this someone let me know I stopped looking at Win8 seriously months ago.

Though I'll agree it's a mystery, I'm not going to complain by any means. smile It's most likely easier to handle than the sequels or something, may as well start with the original in new territory right?
I may or may not have been Izuna Dropped on my head as a child.

I hope that the Broken sword series will finally make its way over, and having heard that Phoenix Wright trilogy is coming to Ipad I hope that makes its way too.

I didn't even poke around much to realize that the entire system is built to end piracy. That means less file control, difficult access to just about anything, and 3rd party apps will become harder to install / run. Which is the reason I stopped taking Windows 8 serious when the marketplace was announced. Microsoft will put an end to any "shady" apps, regardless of how beneficial they actually are. I predict no "fix" that you're looking for...

ESPECIALLY because I will be one of the fools loving Win8 on a Tablet. I hope it's the only way the OS sells, and they rush to get started on 9. I love 7, but by the time 9 would be finished (if worked on properly) we could really use a new OW in 4-5 years.
