TA Top Five: Party Games

In other words, any party enabled game qualifies right?

I would have mentioned the Kinect Sports games, especially the first one.

A "party game" is a game designed for a bunch of friends to play together locally that's easy for anyone to pick up and play. So yes, games with maximum of 2 player local multiplayer would not be part of any party game lists.

I don't mind the list as much except fruit ninja. Only one person can play at a time. I can't see that as a party game at all. I mean you can take turns but if you say that then every game is a party game by that means.

Also I preferred Guitar Hero over Rock band but then again I hated them both with a fiery passion.

Rockband for a party game?! Hell no!

The best party game/app for me was Karaoke, you had almost every song from whatever genre you wanted and you could sing it, I mean come on! You can't get more party than that!

CoD, on the other hand, is hardly a party game.

Happy to see Castle Crashers get a mention in the article though, it's one of those games that seems to have been forgotten about, despite being great fun. One of the best Arcade releases IMO.

In both coop and MP I had a lot of fun with BBT, more so than Castle Crashers. The coop campaign with narration was a lot of fun and I'm glad they had achievements tied to the insane mode.

'Splosion Man was awesone in 4 player coop!

Other than that I think Xbox systems lack good party games. At least when it comes down to games that have achievements.

Xbox Live Indie has some enjoyable ones though. Zatacka for example. Also the Impossible Game and Techno Kitten Adventure, although those games are single player only.

If you're talking a party with people who rarely or never play games, Just Dance is flat out number one. Even people over 50 at some parties get up and play. Everyone always seems too intimidated by Rock Band and just watch.

Nothing beats Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Mario Kart 8 for the ultimate party games though. People don't want to leave and just play all night.

No mention of Twister ? Great fun with the ladies.

Not a Top 5 I'm particularly interested in, just came for the Hydro Thunder post.

Also, Karaoke wasn't that good.

1vs100 was short-lived, but it was a great party game. For those who missed it, it was a trivia game show, complete with prizes (free games, MS points, etc.). It was just like a TV game show except you played it on your Xbox. For a while, I thought it was going to be the next big thing in entertainment. Maybe they drove it into the ground by going from 2x a week to 2x an hour, I don't think there's been anything like it since.

How about Worms 2: Armageddon? Four players, only needs one controller and a great game!

Fusion Frenzy 2 because you can laugh at it.
