Microsoft Studios User Research "ursurvey@datstat.com"

The e-mail also reads: "If you have any questions, please email us at SURsurvey@microsoft.com. "

So I did... The e-mail didn't bounce, but no reply yet.

I started the survey, and it's LONG. Over 90 questions... The only personal info being requested is my age, e-mail address (which they already have), phone number and mailing address. I have not clicked submit on that last page yet.

PS. I have good anti-virus protection in place, so not too worried about browsing to a bogus URL.

Would be a bit wary of it if you have not sent your e-mail in for any promotions recently. Also make sure the questions are related to DCC2/microsoft etc. and your not giving out information you don't want to give. There are ways of asking many questions a certain way to get information without the person realizing it at a glance.

Most of the time though these companies are just looking to get your phone number and address for free so they can sell it for profit to other companies to call/send you advertisements.

Well if it's telephone and address they want, it's all part of public record. Although I have not received a response from the MS e-mail address, I completed the survey anyways. I figure they can send stuff to my address (physical or e-mail) all they wan't, and my VOIP phone service lets me block individual numbers (plus has an extensive "blacklist" already).

If anything ever happens, good or bad, I'll post back.

Onza,

I also received the email and completed the survey yesterday. Seemed pretty legit to me and there was no asking for personal information that wouldn't already be obtainable.

Glad I'm not the only one, and if it was phishing, I'd expect more people would have see it. And that's what I was thinking too about the info... They already had my e-mail, my VoIP number is no big deal and mailing address is in the county database. Here's hoping I (or you) win something. Only thing remotely interesting in the list was Halo: Reach, so that would be OK with me.

Well, there's the NDA you accept when you start the survey to keep in mind... but that aside, it isn't the first I've done.

It's legit. I did the survey and it all checked out fine. And I even got my game today! It was the gears of war triple pack so I'm actually pretty excited about!
