That's because it was a CG trailer. A game in-engine will not look as good as well done CG trailer (not right now anyway), but the technology is improving and closing the gap. That's why I've always appreciated games like Metal Gear Solid, where all of the cinematics are done in the gameplay engine and just flow into gameplay sections seamlessly.
That's why you should never judge a game based on a CG trailer, no matter how awesome it is. ALWAYS look for gameplay trailers to form an opinion.
