I wonder if Microsoft is having trouble getting publishers to agree to this or they really intend to do this small amount every month.I think more likely it's just the sheer effort that goes into porting each one of these games. Getting the publishers on board is one thing (I think they have a fair number on already, plus their own published catalogue) but porting them is where the effort goes in.
Consider that with the original... 104 games? The majority were XBLA titles or Rare Replay titles and that BC was announced in June (when they must've had some games already ported) so they had 5 months between then and their first release... Releasing 16 titles in a month doesn't seem too bad going.
I think they'll continue releasing between 10-20 games a month. What concerns me more is which games they won't make BC - the original Xbox had a lot of its games not made compatible with the 360. Also slightly concerned with the focus mainly being on XBLA titles - which are definitely going to be easier to port, but they're not the games I'm going to miss from my 360 if I got rid of it.
Taking on the porting themselves takes the pressure of publishers (and shouldn't give them a reason to opt out other than wanting to release "remasters" etc) but does mean that it's likely to continue being around this many released every month. Either that or they're waiting to surprise us for Christmas. :P
That all said, I'm really looking forward to breaking out Splosion Man and Deus Ex again. :D Super glad they're doing this programme and that BC is free too!
