My thoughts on this:

Previously: Action-Adventure - No Subgenre.

The Adventure part here is very weak. All of the 'powerups' are driven by progress in the story, the collectible power-ups seem to do very little, particularly in comparison. Nothing in the game is in the format of "pick up object to use elsewhere" a key characteristic of adventure games. There is also no decision making at all. I'm voting this pure Action.

But it does contain significant gameplay items from several Action subgenres.

Beat-em 'up. Most of the Bolt sections and even a few of the Penny sections can be categorized in this fashion. It's the best fit for the game as a whole, in my opinion.

Stealth. Several of Penny's sections can be done in stealth mode. Successfully doing this in at least one area is also required for one achievement.

Shoot-em 'up. The hacking minigame, which is a common recurrence is a simplistic Shoot-em 'up. There are several achievements tied to the minigame, including one for completing a hack without taking damage.
