I remember playing LSL in my youth, it was the one on the cruise ship. Quite enjoyed it, but then, I've always liked point and click games. Still want a remake or at least XBLA version of Grim Fandango, Broken Sword and Flight of the Amazon Queen.

Glad I picked up Box Office Bust, now I can see how a real LSL game is played.

    CAN NOT WAIT.

I've only played Box Office Bust it'll be good to see what these games should really be like.

I never got a chance to play any of the LSL games so I will definitely be checking this one out! Better this game than Box Office from what I hear...

Wow this is great, under Al Lowe's supervision the series might return to it's former glory, so happy to hear he's able to work on old and new Larry games again after others destroyed the Larry franchise, hopefully it's not too late!

This series may end up like Duke Nukem in the sense that perhaps it was good back in it's earlier days but the transition to try to stay relevant may not work well for it.

That aside I'll still pick it up though
Not really a fair comparison though. This guy (who is older than my father, which makes him even more awesome) is an 'OG' overseeing the entire process from start to finish.

Not a new developer trying pick a title that had been passed around as much as my ex-wife and make it faithful to the source material. Gearbox was at a distinct disadvantage from the moment they took that ballsy, albeit unwise step.

I remember a buddy and I would have to sneak around to play these games on his older brother's computer. Seeing them now is hilarious.

There are no words to express how amazing this is. I'm so glad this is happening. I'm so glad adventure games are making a comeback. And I'm so glad they're returning to the right hands. I love Al Lowe. May we never forget Torin's Passage :D

Now if we could just get Space Quest back to the Two Guys from Andromeda, the balance may just be restored, yet.

I do agree that it's not a proper comparison, but for different reasons. Gearbox didn't make DNF, it was already basically complete when they acquired it. It was that bad when it entered into their possession, they just delivered it to the masses so we could stop yelping for it for a few moments.

The reason it's not a proper comparison is that Duke was a new game that was started way back when and worked on here and there for 12 years without updating enough in the process to meet newer gaming generations properly. This is a game that's already been released and is being remade, much like Monkey Island. Only in this case, it's a group of OGs, like you said. Any new games will be probably no more than a couple years in development, tops, and will be led by the daddy of the whole series.

Well yeah I actually didn't mean for it to sound like I was saying Gearbox created it. I knew that but I was getting at what you were saying basically. I wouldn't say Gearbox didn't touch it a bit and just released it though. I would think they would have a bit more integrity than that. They were sure to have attempted to save it.

I believe it would have been a much different product had Gearbox had developed from start to finish with, say original members of 3D Realms. If Duke Begins ever does happen we'll get to see at least half that scenario.

So excited for this. Glad to see Al Lowe has got the rights to Larry back, hopefully this means as well as the remakes we might get a decent new Larry game.

Now all we need is King's Quest 1-6. Then it just leaves some of the older FPSs.

    FUCK. YES.

Seriously, best news ever. Sierra adventures were my staple as a kid growing up, and LSL was my favourite of them all because of the bawdy humour. And Al Lowe is, like, the coolest guy ever. I emailed him when I was 18 not long after Yosemite Entertainment portion of Sierra was shut down, and he was nice enough to email me back several times. Seriously, so glad he's back in games and working on this remake.

Everyone should buy this so that they remake the rest of the games, and with any luck, Kings Quest, Space Quest, Gabriel Knight and Quest for Glory. Adventure games are still my favourite genre and it's so sad that get overlooked underneath the oceans of mediocre FPS/Third-Person Shooters.

My first Game was KQ4, then SQ3......one after the other until 72 in the collection....I would give anything for those types of games again....

    SIERRA, I miss you......still.....

LSL:Love for sail. Dad got the demo for that on 3.5" floppies with one of his Police Quest games. I remember trying to beat Wynona Juggs at Liar's Dice. laugh

That was much more fun than LSL: Box office bust.

This is great news - have played every Larry game made and the recent significant deterioration in quality with both Magna and BOB can now hopefully be reversed - One question - Is there a typo in Al's first sentence surely he is 'jizzed' not 'jazzed'
