Hey guys, just wanna know if there is a way to get the achievements at all? On Windows 7 I always get the message (in an extra window that I've never seen before) that the release date can't be verified. I started the game in compatibilty mode installed it in cm, deinstalled the GFWL client and installed the new one, changing the date, copied files from one folder to System32 but NOTHING. GTA 4 works just fine on W7 with all patches installed. Any way, is there a way to play it on either Windows to get the achievements?

If I remember correctly you need to change your pc date to around the release date an play it all offline. To sync your achievements you'll then need to sign into live on another game.

Yeah, you'll need to play it not connected to live.

Yeah, but I can't play it. It's the first thing that appears when I start the game I can't do nothing against it

If you can get past the release date check:

When you run the game again you will get a message that there is an update for the game and would you like to install it. DO NOT (very important) let GFWL update the game. The patch breaks the game.

It will then tell you Dark Souls will start in offline mode. This is the only way you can play the game now in order to unlock the achievements.

Indeed, as Napathanes said. I did it on a computer with Windows 10 around 2 months ago.
You'll need another game to sync the achievements you won offline.
Other threads speak about that.

Tried to reinstall it again and i can't get past that verifying process. It's kind of depressing that GTA 4 works perfectly and Dark Souls won't even start. Any other tips? Maybe I try to reinstall Windows just for that?

I just did a fresh install on a Win 10 PC and after having a couple of failed attempts of getting pass the release date check. The game connected with the server and unlocked without me having to change the date this time. Keep trying if still no luck then maybe a no-cd crack will work.

Are there any tips anyone has to getting started with this? I bought a sealed copy and it just came in yesterday. I do not play PC games, with the exception of the 2 that I have on Steam. So, I'm very much so a beginner when it comes to PC knowledge in any way shape or form. Thanks!

I know this is old but thanks. I did play this awhile ago but got pissed when the "Reach Lordan" achievement wouldn't unlock no matter how many times I'd reinstall the game, redo it, and having it repeatedly pop.

Thought I'd try again and it just crashed after updating with every other solution online always going on about the damn Steam version!

Am currently uninstalling so I can reinstall and try this method.
