Am I doing something wrong?

Hi guys hope you are all ok! So I bought this again as I had it on 360 but never really did anything with the story, I just messed around killing zombies, and I'm honestly finding it very difficult! I recently finished Dead Rising 3 which as I understand it is substantially easier than the first 2, I loved 2 and played it to death, but I feel as if I'm playing it wrong, I use mixed drinks, Well, Nectar as a rule, currently level 10 but as stated earlier I am struggling, Carlito in the food court was easy enough, I managed to kill the convicts once, but when they respawned they got me, so yeah am I playing this wrong? I always carry at least 1 healing item and 1 gun, normally the SMG from the blue rooftop in Paradise plaza and the Katana from the rook near all the orange juice, I am told it is hard to begin with but I feel like a right derp at the minute haha! Any advice is greatly appreciated.

When you have enough inventory slots. Get the two magazines (Entertainment & Engineering) from Bachman's Book in Paradise Plaza, then get the criminology magazine from Sir Books A lot in Wonderland Plaza. You should do this before the scoop "Out of Control" During this scoop defeat the Psycho "Adam" and take his chainsaw afterwards. With the three magazines you have the chainsaw should last you the rest of the game and make defeating zombies and some psycho's easier. If your chainsaw does run out you can always leave and then re-enter wonderland plaza for a fresh chainsaw.

Just a warning be careful when swinging the chainsaw while escorting survivors, as 1-2 hits can kill them easily.

^This. The mini chainsaws with all three books are by far the best weapon in the game for clearing crowds, escorting survivors and killing most psychos.
If you can be bothered to invest the time / are going for all achievements anyway, do zombie genocider first. You can start a new game and just drive up and down the maintenance tunnels until you have 53,594 kills and you'll unlock the real mega blaster which kills pretty much every boss in about 3-5 shots.

My inv at all times: Real mega buster/ 3x magazines for skateboard/ 2 magazines for small chainsaw/ small chainsaw/ skateboard/ food/ queens

The nonsensical old school style is what makes the game frustrating. NOT the entire game just those "bits" old school games tended to have in them that make thing so much harder but for stupid reasons.

Surprised the truscore for some of these aren't even higher. Unless theres far more than 50 survivors to save or something...was assuming that's all of them.

I actually like the complete randomness of how quickly a situation can go back with a survivor. What I hate is that I can hurt them and in some instances it be impossible to save them even though im right next to them because of I attack im just gonna kill them..their AI being moronic..cutscenes randomly forcing me away from them and they die. Even getting to about the 40% point and I notice some survivors spawn without having gotten any missions from them. Had people die I didn't even know were around or heard anything about. FFS if you have more than 4 survivors with you and you're in a rush. They can get stuck on the wall before the security room making it painfully obnoxious to finish. SO old school.

Aside from THAT the game got shockingly easy in terms of combat when I realized it auto aims at enemies with melee....somehow I didn't notice that for awhile. Manually aiming results in you getting grabbed A LOT more often.

Small chainsaw you get REALLY early strangely enough. If you get the one thats dropped then the one that spawns. Go get the 3 books for it and I was actually thinking it either glitched or was just an easter egg and lasted forever. It lasts SOOOOOO long. Oblierates everything in your path including bosses.
