Legendary dweller quests?

Does anyone know if the exploits still work? I am pretty hardcore about completing my games. Therefore, I would really rather not be stuck with a achievement that takes several hundred hours.

For instance, can I mess around with the clock of my computer and still get lunchboxes? There are a handful of ways located on YouTube to exploit this achievement as well. Are they still working like they are supposed to?

The clock exploit still works, but most of the exploits that you read about are either patched out or only work on the phone versions which don't give you the achievements.

Lunchboxes are on sale at the moment for those who're interested in sinking some funds into this.

Update 1: If it makes you feel any better, I got a Legendary Dweller on the 5th box I opened. I also got a Rare Dweller on my 10th, but it doesn't matter.

Update 2: I opened 20 of those boxes I bought, and got a second Legendary Dweller. So now I'm up to 5. It seemed to give me a dweller every five boxes I opened, two rares, two legendaries. I'm quite positive it's a coincidence though.

Here's my 2 cents on this:

I got the following from Lunchboxes: Old Longfellow, Scribe Rothchild, Abraham Washington, and Piper. (4 total)

I got Elder Lyons from the Starter Pack. (5)

I got Sarah Lyons from a quest. (6)

Aside form that, I haven't sunk any money into buying one or a mass of lunchboxes - just earned them through objectives and quests. I did meet Harkness during a quest, but he wasn't awarded when the quest was complete.

As for objectives, there was only one I gave up on for a lunchbox, and that was to defeat 8 Deathclaws with my bare hands (whoever came up with that objective is a sadist). After one attempt that nearly trashed my whole vault and ate up most of my stimpaks, I decided it was a lost cause.

Honestly, I know this will be the final achievement for me to unlock to complete the game. And seriously, they should have cut it down to 6-8 Legendary Dwellers, not 20.

From the 40 I bought at $9.99, I got a total of three legendary dwellers. Not buying anymore at the moment.

I completed the first Horsemen quest (6/6), and got no legendary dweller from it. I'm on Horsemen Part 2 now. I'll see how it goes this weekend. Heading off for a vacation soon.

So I was like, ok sweet...3 I only need 4 more now, bought 40 more....Got OnE!!! But it was Eulogy Jones so at least there's that.

You guys have far better fucking luck than I do. Out of 3 packs of 40 (2 sets bought during the sale), I got a grand total of 3 fucking Legendaries.

Also of note, the starter pack guarantees a legendary dweller drop.

Unfortunately you can't be buying Starter Packs indefinitely.

I'm up to 8 now. Is the sale still on? I'm still on vacation. Too lazy turn on the Xbox because I've packed it for return flight already. :D

Came back from vacation, and decided to buy 80 boxes, I'm up to 10 now, but it isn't encouraging at all when my last 40 boxes yielded zero legendary dweller. I've enough legendary weapons and outfits to unlock the other two achievements three times over from these boxes. Very frustrating.

If I'm one away, I'd buy 40 boxes until I get that elusive one.

Unfortunately (or fortunately smile), I'm 10 away.

I got Preston Garvey from a quest (helping a settlement!) + I also got him from a lunchbox, so I have 2 Preston's.
I got Abraham Washington from a lunchbox, I actually got him twice, so I have another set of duplicates here.
I got Eulogy Jones from the Starter Pack.
Sarah Lyons I got from a quest.
Confessor Cromwell I also got from a lunchbox.
Piper was in a lunchbox but it was a lunchbox that was awarded, not purchased.
I'm in the middle of a quest where I met Three Dog, so I'm assuming he might be awarded once the whole quest line is complete. I'll update when I know for sure.

According to my stats, I've spent a total of 255 hours & 56 minutes playing Fallout Shelter & 8 legendaries is all I have so far, this includes duplicates..
I hope this goes some way towards helping you realise what you might be in for!!! headspin

Editted this because according to my achievement progression, the duplicates are in fact counting toward the achievement. Thanks to the person below for pointing that out! I was using the cheevo tracker on-screen & when the duplicates came up, I didn't see the bar fill.
I'm updating this because I have some more new Legendaries, BUT according to the achievement tracker, they're not counting. It could be the tracker is somewhat broken though. I now have 3 vaults. I started my 3rd today but on survival mode. Whilst working on my 2nd vault, I got Eulogy Jones & he counted. But later I got Mr. Burke & then Three Dog and they didn't count. My 3rd vault, today, I got Bittercup, she didn't count either. So I'm not really sure if the tracker is just not communicating with this game.

Another update is that in my 1st vault, I now have 3 Abraham Washington's, 2 Preston Garvey's, and they all counted. Definitely duplicates do count.

I can not confirm whether or not Three Dog is an award for completing the Horsemen quest line because after completing everything available, we're just left with a cliffhanger, so I assume they'll be adding more quests soon, and specifically more to that storyline. The Three Dog I ended up getting was from a lunchbox in my 2nd vault, but not a purchased one. I got him after completing a challenge. I will add to this again at a later date when I confirm more things.

Thanks for confirming that there's no legendary at the end of the Horsemen questline.

I'll skip it then. I'm now on 900G, and that's about it. I can't even complete 100 objectives because I'm getting those "Stop 40 Incidents", etc. kind of grindy ones. I just don't have the mood to load this game daily anymore.

The 3rd quest in Horsemen of the Post-Apocalypse Part 3 gives Three Dog as a mission reward, so it may be worth completing the first two.

Yeah, Bethesda is releasing more quests with Legendary Dweller rewards which is good if you don't want to shell out for lunchboxes.

Several people on TA are unlocking it every day. I wonder if they are playing with the system date or getting their dwellers the legit way.

I'm not sure if it's worth returning to the game for those new quests. We'll see.

System date can't be futzed with on the One for this. You have to be online to play the game, so any monkeying about with it gets reset.

You can, however, futz with the clock on the Win10 version to get a bunch of lunchboxes, then transfer over to the One.
