Strike Team success %'s are horsecrap

I just started Andromeda this week and am having issues with my strike teams. When I first accessed the strike team mission I assumed it would be similar to something like Assassin's Creed Black Flag and the supply route missions. Pretty much the same as any basic side mini game in that a success % of 70 or higher essentially means you're good to go. Of course the occassional mission will fail, but the odds are always in your favor this way.

With Andromeda's strike teams I was able to pass the initial mission, and have since failed basically every mission. I don't think I have passed one since the first day I played the game. I am consistently failing missions with +70% chance of success (typically between 74% and 84%). So I'm assuming that either the devs spilled horse crap all over their algorithm that calculates success %, or something is wrong with my game/download. Which is dissipointing because I do typically like these side mini-games because they provide an easy way to collect xp/crafting supplies without having to go out of your way all the time.

Anyone else had issiues with the strike team missions? If you have, do you have any advice for better success?

Works as expected for me. Teams usually succeed but there are failures every so often even when the success rate is in the high 80s. You could try retiring your team and recruiting a new one.

Every Strike Team Mission has some attributes, as well as the Teams (can) have positive and negative ones. So maybe you just used the wrong team for a mission? You have to scroll down in the mission view to see these and there is no way to see the mission attributes and team attributes on the same screen at the same time, unfortunately.

Some attributes are like "Afraid of the Dark", "Afraid of Relicts" and so on. And I don't think these attributes are used in the calculation for the success-chance, so maybe that's the point, when failing missions on high chance of success.

All attributes/traits seem to affect the success %. At first I found I was losing roughly half of my strike team missions, but as my teams ranked up I rarely lose at all on bronze missions, and my level 15 strike teams tend to win most of the silver missions now. Keep at it, and keep an eye on each team's traits. If you're managing your teams on the console you can look into the details of each trait and what they do. You can't go into as much detail using the mobile app from what I can see.

its pretty random, completed gold mission with under-level-10 teams and 15% success chance nearly as often as with level 20 teams. attributes like kett specialist are automatically incorporated into success chance, so you can basically ignore them and just look on the percentage.

^^^This. Finally figured out that the traits you buy counter the traits listed for the mission. And that the % was a calculation done before those traits were taken into consideration. Turns out I had some extremely heroic young men, but I'd been sending them into a gun fight with a butter knife. Sorry boys, that ones on me.

What you describe happens to me too. I have 5 strike teams now and routinely have 1 or 2 failures, even on my highly ranked teams. I've since put attributes toward each team to boost them up some and that helps. I'd say my success to failure rate now is for every ten I run, 1 will fail.

I have 6 strike teams, 5 at L20 an 1 at L19. Even with a >90% success rate I seem to see more than 10% failures on missions. On the flip side, I've seen a ~50% success rate for a Gold mission actually succeed. The math doesn't seem to bear out, even when considering RNG is RNG...

Yeah I take back what I originally said about the % not accounting for added strike team perks. Even after I added a few I still routinely failed 85%+ missions. I made sure to match up my strike teams with the relevant mission qualities and it didn't seem to make much difference. By the time i finished the achievements (two playthroughs bc of the Insanity run) one of my level 20's had high level perks but still had more negative traits because of a fail rate.

Honestly... for anyone starting this, I wouldn't waste points on the traits/perks. Unless you're actually playing the strike team missions then you'll probably be cutting it close just to get the six teams needed for the achievement (unless you really stay on top of returning to the ship every time a strike team mission finishes -- pain in the rear end). Just make sure to check up on them consistently and you should get the six by the end. also look at remaining times -- don't run out for a main mission if you have 5-10 minutes left and a 10 point Apex mission available. Just screw around with your armor or something and then send them out first.
