TA Playlist Game Suggestion Thread

I personally don’t have much interest in playing many original Xbox games especially with all the 360 and Xbox One games out now. I struggle enough keeping up with new games coming out and my backlog. Others may feel different though. I just prefer to stick to games on my backlog or wish list.

On another note, what are the chances of any of these games or there sequels making it to a future TA playlist poll? (forgive me if any of these have been asked about before):

    Borderlands
Dead Space (maybe an October poll?)
    Fallout
    Mass Effect
All very high likelihood I’d say. We have a spreadsheet of games that fit the Playlist intent and they’re all on there. It’s a big list, but yes I think especially Dead Space is a near lock for October.

I'm sure you'd get some core people really interested in an OG month but I think it would definitely be a subset so you'd potentially be looking at a lower month in terms of participation numbers, potentially quite significantly. Then again the feedback and commentary could be very interesting. So I suppose it comes down to whether it's worth impacting the numbers for it considering the growth you're currently experiencing and losing out on all the stats stuff (probably of secondary importance).

Personally if it's a game I've played before I'll definitely contribute to the forum but I won't be buying or playing an OG game. And not just for the sake of achievements. My current backlog just wouldn't justify it.
I think you are also restricting the playlist to almost entirely people who had an XBOX originally, granted there may be some folks who want to play these games, but I personally had the N64, which led me to the Gamecube...so all of my nostalgia is for Nintendo games. No real interest at all in the BC original XBOX titles.

With the backlog as it is I have an excessive amount of achievements to get , and too many Wookiees to help as well!

I'm in the same boat as most of the others who've responded. There are maybe one or two original Xbox games I wouldn't mind playing again (KOTOR II, Morrowind, Jade Empire are the ones that come to mind), but I've got too many other games I want to play to justify spending money on games I've already played, especially with no achievements involved.

If the game that was picked was one I'd already played, I'd share what I remembered about it in the forum, but I'm probably not playing along. I don't really know of any OG Xbox games that I didn't play back in the day that I would be interested in trying... if one was selected for Playlist, I'd give it some thought, but it would be a tough sell.

I do agree that it would be a very low-participation month overall. It might make for a good podcast discussion, but I doubt you'll have a lot of people playing along. If you decide to go with it, make sure it's a month where there's not much else going on (big game releases, community events or challenges, etc.), or else Playlist will just get lost in the noise.

Great feedback on this, folks. Thanks. I think we’ve scrapped this idea for now. Maybe as the library grows (or if they add achievements or do a sale) we will revisit it.

Thanks for involving us. If achievements are added, you have to do an OG month or two.

I finally played a game good enough to recommend for the playlist... SOMA. Solid graphics and a great story that I think could lead to some good discussion in the forums. It is also a survival horror game, to me not as good as Alien Isolation but the story is far superior. You could put this game in the October horror month, an indie month and also a short game month (average completion is 8-10 hours).

The only bad thing I can say about the game is the normal price is $30 (on sale right now for $18). I think that price might be too high for a lot of people for it to be selected but the game is very worthy of being picked.

SOMA is definitely on our big list of games that fit the event. The only problem with an October bid is I think it won’t fare well against bigger games from horror that month, but it’s certainly in consideration. It would also maybe do better for itself in an indie month.

Also: here’s a tease for the next poll. https://twitter.com/markdelaneysays/status/99109831365819187...

I don't know which one to go for:

Robot Stabby Medic, Shooty Clock Man, Police Nuts or Alien Spanner Stars...they are all so good.

    Easy but a bit porny:
    - Wall-E Goes Wild
    - The Early Finisher
    - The Escapists: Screwing the Screws
    - XCOM: Anal Probe Within

I love these things but I’m just not that good at them. The only one I think could be right is the second one. SUPER HOT, the main game isn’t time related but some challenges are and it was GWG. It might also be one the Mirror’s Edge games, but the one I played didn’t let the player use a gun so probably not, the game is also really cheap even if you don’t have EA Access.

    Edit. I’m going Recore #1
    SUPERHOT #2
    L.A. Noire #3
    Prey # 4

I don’t know what they are and I read the conversation choosing the games.

I was thinking the second one could be quantum break as its a shooter platformer involving time

How is number 3 La Noire? The nuts make no sense. A magnifying glass would be better.
