Kinect Share Disabled, Takes Many Achievements With It

Another nail in Kinect's coffin.

Wow, MS can go shove it. Even EA and 2K give more notice then MS.

thankfully Dr Kowabungas brain mistraining is unaffected.

A real result as it is one of the best games every released... Kowabunga you are the controller.

You can't even get gold/silver/bronze trophies when playing by yourself or with a friend in co-op on the same console now, which sucks for seeing how well or badly you've done :( And of course, on top of that, you can't download any songs either, whether you already bought them for the game or not - I haven't dared delete any from my console despite the amount of space they take up, because I know I'd never be able to get them back! It's only really fun for me now when I can play against a friend in person, losing the trophy, rating & leaderboard measurements really messed up single-player mode. :(

(Can you tell I have a grudge about this one? I have all the Lips games - in fact, they were the first I bought for my secondhand 360, even before FFXIII came out.)

When Xbox Live was shut down in 2010 (5 years after the 360 was released), it was the online parts of games like Halo 2 that you could no longer play, and so online only DLC like map packs became worthless. This affected backward compatible games and Xbox Originals that are still available for purchase, eg Halo: Combat Evolved or Crimson Skies ([UPDATE] Original Xbox Backwards Compatibility Coming to Xbox One). Since those games didn't have achievements it is hard to say whether Microsoft will leave enough of the core services running for you to still be able to sync Xbox 360 offline achievements.

Backward compatibility is great, but the long list of backward compatible Xbox Games didn't save Xbox Live. We might like playing a 10 year old game, but Microsoft isn't a charity and if isn't generating any significant revenue from us playing it, they will not be paying to run and maintain the back end infrastucture.

I agree that backward compatibility should extend the lifespan, but 2021 will be 8 years after the release of Xbox One, and that is 3 years longer than Xbox Live carried on for.

I'm incredibly shocked and disappointed that they gave no advance notice. If I had known even a week ago, I would have set it up and gone out of my way to do these Fun Labs.

While I understand how much it sucks when features and achievements are disabled, it's not like we didn't have years to get these. Literally years.

I don't know if someone already posted this, but sharing achievements to Facebook no longer works either, so maybe it's Zuckerberg's fault, not Spencer's. :/

Damn, at least I don't have any unfinished Kinect fun labs games. I've done a few and I kept postponing the others, but it's no big deal because, after all, these were free quick games. and frankly, not too good games. So I guess I'll free some space on the 360.

I'm more bummed by the Kinect Adventure. I have it and never touched it and I was interested in trying it. But again, I'm at fault here for not starting it a long time ago.

However, a warning would have been appreciated

Kinda lame they didn't give any notice for this stuff. You'd think by now they'd know better.

The "Kinect Me" servers has been down since several months ago when i attempted getting a few of the uploading photos cheevos, so I'm not so sure what's the point of this here announcement
