What qualifies a game to be ‘Xbox One X Enhanced?’
Gravel and Dynasty Warriors 9 are supposedly enhanced but they don’t look or run like they are.

All 360 backwards compatible games get a basic Anti aliasing treatment and improved frame rate stability. Also if the games have unlocked frame rates then they will run at higher frame rates more often (like GTA IV).

Xbox one X Enhanced games have a special patch that adds more things on top of the previous things. It changes from game to game though. I think the developer has to be involved.

I'm fucking annoyed that Fable Anniversary has 1 unobtainable (if you're on the XB1).

So I'm annoyed to see this shit on the list.

That is more of a dev issue than a hardware issue. Koei are turd at making their games run well as if they were going to make a dynasty warriors game run at a smooth framerate or at 4k. According to digital foundry the game tanks constantly on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro hardware.

TLDR shitty devs ruin games not consoles.

Remember that The Witcher 2 has 2 variants also. For me it is Europe and Japan.

It's not working with the Xbox 360 Smartglass. This app can't find the Xbox 360.
The Xbox One Smartglass is working.

Just tried 360 smartglass again... couldn't find my 360. Bizarre that MS hasn't ever said anything about this. Have they? The smartglass setting in the 360 menu is still there. And the smartglass app is still talking to xbl.

Anyway, Fable is classic. I've done many playthroughs. Next time I do it'll be a full trilogy playthrough just before Fable 4's release (hopefully)

Yeah because I'm sure that Microsoft is thinking just about achievement hunters when they decide what games get this treatment.

Please keep them coming Microsoft/Publishers/Developers.
These versions of the game need to be seen first hand to believe. So far I have 10 of the 11, no Fable Anniversary.
Seriously though, Mirror's Edge, Gears 3, Skate 3, all jaw-dropping. Really really loving have a Xbox One "ScorpiX". The 16XAF and load-times/performance boosts are already magnificent. But these are truly something special. Same goes for the Xbox Originals that are supported --- Thank you very much again Microsoft/Publishers/Developers.

I'm happy that Crackdown is finally backwards compatible but I wish they would put Horizon's dlc back on the store.

What took them so long to do Crackdown BC? I would actually like to know the reason.
Could this mean that we may get a release date soon for Crackdown 3?

So why is this for One X only? Most of these games are decades old and would fine on the standard Xbox with improvements.

Horizon looks crisp ! Playing it now just to finish up the two last base game achievements.
Only problem was that the Rally DLC didn’t work. Just restarting the X fixed it.
Does that mean that I can get all the achievements in this game if I have all the Game and Rally DLC?

Actually ignore me, I have the season pass but not actually downloaded the DLCs, so I assume I'm still out of luck?

Because apparently this "emulating software" or whatever only exist in Xbox One X and not in the original and S models of Xbox One.

Anyhow should Microsoft keep these coming (and I really hope they will), then I really, really consider buying Xbox One X myself sooner rather than later.

I still have huge backlog of Xbox 360 games left (which is why I still havent moved to 8th gen consoles or their games) So im really glad Microsoft is doing such good job with backwards compability. Still there are many games on my library that dont work on Xbox One at all, so still cant put my Xbox 360 to retirement just yet.

But really great job by Microsoft and if one day all of my 360 library works on Xbox One X and hopefully as many of them as possible are "enhanced" titles, then I more than gladly would buy Xbox One X before even jumping to 8th gen games.

When I first looked into the "Enhancements" the X1X offered for BC titles specifically, rather than the 4K upgrade (Because I'm still trying to finish 360 titles before even thinking about upgrading my display) most of the touted improvements were performance related. What I really wanted was higher resolution and higher framerate (TRUE 1080p at at least 30fps) and software limitations prevent that. Bummer. That being said, what most people will notice is original resolution and better performance, but a solid framerate, locked at software by developer, and the 16XAF (anisotropic filtering, meaning essentially the ground looks a lot sharper, woo...eee.) makes certain games a lot more enjoyable than they were on the 360 that was stretched in certain situations. A perfect example is certain games that perform very well excepting occasional asset streaming delays or high action / combat events with multiple characters. End result is playing a 360 game that performs and looks like it was designed to be played notwithstanding minor hardware limitations. Enhancements is not the term I'd use for it; I'd call it more like fixes for sloppy devs.

I am happy MS sold me a console that is the "most powerful console on the planet" and I believe it fully. It meets my requirements. I feel like the 360 emulated dashboard option for performance/graphic quality is a no-brainer that should have been there at the start. I'm disappointed but understanding of the fact that MS cannot enhance titles via emulation that have software based limitations on resolution and framerate. If Forza Horizon ran 60fps at 1080p or 4K, I'd be overjoyed.

The most recent example of performance enhancement/fix I have witnessed was finishing off some MP achievements in COD3. In a boosting session without the required 8 participants, I double boxed it to be able to even start a game, as the MP community is understandably lacking for a 10 year old game. On my 360, it usually ran at a delicious high framerate. The X1X didn't increase anything, but I did notice a few areas that certain VFX or, yes, high amounts of blades of grass, smoke effects, etc, would cause slowdown on the 360 that was eliminated on the new console. While waiting for someone else to finish their boosting, I switched screens from one to the other, in the same area, and noted the framerate drop on the 360. Not important when just boosting, but in a real gaming situation, responsiveness and framerate are vital to playability and enjoyment. In games with lots of polys and AI, busy battle scenes can get choppy, and reduce a player's ability to succeed - all the right buttons in the right sequence won't do you any good when you can't see the enemy that is behind your 3rd person perspective character because your dodge button occurred 15 frames late.

That's what I think about the X1X "enhancements" for BC titles. I love it, but I'm still disappointed, cause what I really wanted was 60fps 1080P for all my 360 games. And yet, I understand completely, because even with a badass PC gaming rig, you can run original Playstation games emulated at 1080P but you can't enhance low res textures, or change a framerate set by the software, and nothing will ever change that save a patch.

On a side note - I thought for the longest time Sony was ignoring their legacy customers by not offering backwards compatibility. I was partially wrong - I recently bought a used PS4 to play (yes, a single game) Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy, and briefly looked at Sony's equivalent to the XBL store. Overpriced and innumerably less offerings, but - whoa, new information - they now sell a few select PS2 titles to run on your PS4. Won't work with your original PS2 disc, and the prices are flat $15 and up, and they falsely advertise enhanced resolution and improved performance, but it's a blanket statement and they should be subject to a class action lawsuit. BUT - I was happy to play Dark Cloud on my PS4, even though playing it emulated on my PC looked WAY better and I could even transfer my save from my PS2 to my PC and continue without having to buy it again.... but one thing Sony did that MS hasn't done yet.... trophies for old PS2 games that never had them. Yep. Dark Cloud now has achievements. When MS announced at E3 to much applause, OG Xbox BC with the initial title set, I was thrilled, and hoped beyond hope that they might put a little effort into adding a patch to the game image/disc image/emulator that would allow achievements. It's not that hard - and yes, I know whereof I speak, because I've programmed achievements for emulated games myself. Hell, if Sony did it, why can't MS? I'd go raid local game stores for boxes full of old OG XB games for the cheevos. It could happen.... I hope. Crimson Skies 1000GS FTW! Woooooo!

They simply looks sharper, have better textures, better anti-aliasing and in some cases better framerate as well.

Here are few comparisons from previous games that were enhanced:
