Hi, this is neeker75. Welcome to my walkthrough for ACA NEOGEO BURNING FIGHT.
Burning Fight is one of the multitude of titles in the ACA NEOGEO series. It's basically a side-scrolling beat-'em-up that features general button-mashing gameplay. You'll take on a variety of enemies, and fight the occasional bosses. Obviously the enemies get harder as the game progresses, but the achievements in this game are actually quite easy. With some practice, you should be able to unlock the harder achievements in Hi Score Mode without even fighting the first boss.
Tips and tricks coming up in the next page - trust me, these tips and tricks are paramount to your 1K!
I'll first go through the basic commands:
- This is the directional control. Use it to go left, right, up and down.
- Kick
- Punch
- Jump
Very important moves to learn:
- This performs some sort of rising dragon punch like Ryu/ Ken does in the Street Fighter series. This move will bring you tons of points, but has the downside of reducing your HP when it connects. You'd need to spam this move at very specific moments to increase your points quickly to hit the Hi Score requirement.
up + - Jumping Kick. This is the bread and butter move for the majority of the game. Somehow, it nets you much more points than the usual punches and kicks. Do not even consider using normal punches and kicks at all if possible.
Take note of the following two specific moments when you need to spam to get the final Hi Score achievement:
1. Midway through the first level, you'll see a bar that you can enter. A big "IN!" sign will appear, which makes it hard to miss. Inside the bar, kill the enemy, and spam on the piano at the end of the room. You'll lose a lot of HP, but keep doing so until you can't anymore, and finish off the piano with . You'll gain a lot of points simply by dragon punching the piano. Upon destroying the piano, you'll receive a HP boost that replenishes all your HP.
2. Slightly after the two guys jumping around with swinging chains and the mafia enemy that uses a gun, you'll face a truck. Make sure you enter this segment with full HP. An enemy will keep tossing dynamites at you from the back of the truck. Quickly run forward, and spam on the truck, This will net you between 8000 to 10000 points. If you've done everything correctly up till here, destroying the truck will push your totals to 60,000 points for the final Hi Score achievement.

Hi Score Mode
Let's begin with Hi Score Mode, which is the hardest mode of the game. You'd need to achieve 60,000 points with one credit to unlock all the Hi Score-related achievements.
Below is a step-by-step guide:
- From the main menu, select Hi Score Mode.
- Select the character named “Duke”. I believe he’s the only fighter who has the dragon punch skill on .
- Jump kick the two barrels to dispose off the two enemies who are throwing grenades at you.
- Continue on, and use jump kicks on the waves of enemies. There will be a bunch of singlet guys, and some of them will have weapons on them. Try your best to avoid getting hit while doing your jump kicks.
- Jump kick the clown statue, and jump kick the display cabinet – these destructible items give you points as well. Also, always pick up the items that are left behind from these destructible items. Some of them give points.
- Continue on, kill the enemies with jump kicks, and destroy another cabinet.
- Jump kick to destroy the mirror thing.
- Head right for a whole bunch of enemies, including some dark singlet boxer types. Beware of the dude tossing the dynamite. Continue to jump kick everyone to their deaths. Ignore the yellow signboard for now.
- Destroy the beer crate, and jump kick everyone else that follows to oblivion.
- After killing everyone, jump kick to destroy the yellow signboard. You should replenish your HP from the pick-up.
- Enter the elevator that has a huge “IN” icon to access the bar.
- You’ll be at a specific section where you must spam to gain points. Quickly jump kick the enemy, and use on the piano. With full HP, you should milk a ton of points from this. You won’t be able to destroy the piano though, so once you can’t use anymore (the game will not allow you to die from using this move), quickly destroy the piano with .
- Pick up the HP boost to get back to full health.
- Destroy the dining table quickly, and pick up the gold for more points. Remember to avoid the chandelier that drops from the top.
- When you leave the bar, you should have around 39,000 to 41,000 depending on how well you did so far. If you’ve anything below 35,000, it’d be advisable to restart.
- Continue right, and a truck will appear. Ignore the truck for now as it’ll drive away quickly. Instead, focus your attention on the two jumping enemies in red. They also swing a chain, and will hurt you badly when hit. For these two, you may want to simply use quick punches on them to end the fight quickly.
- More enemies next, including a dynamite tosser (haha). Jump kick them, including the pimp-like dude in pink.
- Destroy the billboard outside the brothel for an item that gives a great amount of points.
- Next up, a mafia type enemy in white suit will appear. He uses a gun. Quickly attack him to make him drop the gun. If you can pick the gun up, quickly use it on the enemy. If not, just keep quick punching him. Be careful that the mafia dude also does a sliding attack on you periodically. He’s a pain to deal with. There will be some other goons around whom you can jump kick to keep the points rolling, so just kill him quickly already.
- You must be careful now to stand at the lowest part of the screen – some motorcycles will appear, and it’s best to avoid them while you take out the other enemies that appear.
- Destroy the next two items (including a bicycle for some HP and points).
- The next section is the moment of truth. The truck will reappear, and an enemy will keep tossing dynamites at you. Quickly run towards the truck, and spam . If your HP is high, you can milk a large amount of points from the truck with the dragon punch.
- Continue normal punching when you can’t use dragon punch anymore to destroy the truck.
- At this point, you should reach 60,000 points to unlock all the following achievements:
You can now die deliberately to end the session. Enter your initials to record the score. When asked if you'd like to register your score, choose "Yes". This unlocks:
HI SCORE PlayerThe score has been posted to the online rankings in the "HI SCORE MODE".
Below is a video to show how to get to 60,000 at the truck. As you can see, the highest I got for Hi Score Mode is 88,750. This video isn't my best effort, because I made it while being distracted by my screaming children. Nevertheless, if you follow it generally, you'll get your achievements.
ACA NEOGEO Burning Fight 60,000 Points in Hi Score ModeCaravan ModeIn Caravan Mode, you need to achieve 50,000 points with one credit to unlock all the Caravan-related achievements. The catch here is that you only have five minutes to do so.
You can follow the step-by-step guide from the Hi Score Mode, but obviously, choose Caravan Mode from the main menu. The rest of the steps are the same.
Once you hit 50,000 points, you can die deliberately to end the session. There's no need to register your score if you don't wish to.
Original ModeOriginal Mode is very, very easy. I chose to do it in English Mode, but either Japanese or English modes will do. Once you enter the mode, press
to go into the admin panel. Select difficulty to Level 1, and give yourself as many lives as you need. I only took nine lives to achieve the 150,000 points required, but if you need more lives, by all means beef it up to 99. I'd say 20-25 lives is pretty generous enough.
Go back to the main menu, and the game will reboot to activate your settings. You're now playing on Level 1 difficulty with all the lives you've set. Press
to add credits to the game, and start Original Mode.
You can follow the walkthrough above to reach 50,000 points easily to unlock:
From here on, you'll be facing similar enemies throughout, with the occasional boss thrown in to mix things up. Since you've added in all the lives, you don't really need to worry about strategies and stuff. Simply spam as and when you go until you hit the 100,000 and 150,000 marks to unlock:
You can now either continue to play through the game until all your lives are exhausted, or simply stand there, and let the enemies kill you. Once all your lives are gone, don't continue. Enter your initials to record the score. When asked if you're like to register, choose "Yes" to unlock your last achievement.
