8. American Fugitive State of Emergency Title Update

State of Emergency Title Update

Free to all existing owners of the game, the State of Emergency update adds several new gameplay features to the game along with three new achievements.

First of all, there are two more vehicles to collect to complete your checklist - The Westmoreland Tank and the Army 4x4 - Which I've integrated with the vehicle checklist, as 'Tank' and 'Jeep' respectively.

There's also a couple of new weapons in the form of the bazooka and the minigun, which you may find useful in some of the more difficult missions. These can be found, among other hidden locations, on the army personnel which turn up when you reach the new, six star wanted level. You're going to want to reach that wanted level anyway, as that means the jeeps and tanks will turn up for you to collect, and you're going to need the tank for two new achievements.

The first one is this:

One Track Mind

Destroy 100 Enemy Tanks.

  • Get yourself a six-star wanted level, or simply order the tank from your phone if you're coming back to the game post-completion
  • Kill everyone and destroy everything until you reach the six star wanted level, which is when the army will turn up to take you down
  • Keep moving in your tank, destroying the enemy tanks as they come for you. You can tell where the enemies are going to fire based on the red target circles which appear on the ground. Avoid these!
  • Blow up as many tanks as you can until yours is almost destroyed. Now leap out of your ruined armoured vehicle and go and jack one from the army!
  • Repeat until the achievement unlocks

Next, we have the following doozy:

Rollin', Rollin', Rollin'

Crush 250 Vehicles with a Tank.

  • Yes, this achievement is very annoying. Stick with it!
  • In your tank, drive as fast as you can along the longest, widest roads in the game, preferably on the wrong side of the road
  • Hit other cars - cars only - head on with your tank to flatten them. When the police turn up, go for it! flatten them!
  • It's much easier if you are driving at speed and have other cars coming at you head on
  • Yes, you will get stuck. That's what makes this achievement so bloody annoying!

Finally, you'll be pleased to know there are ten more timed challenges for you to complete, and you have to get gold on every single one! To play the challenges, look for Sarge's three stripe chevron icon on the map. There are 10 challenges spread throughout the three areas, so if you haven't reached Port Providence or Ridge Plains yet, you'll need to progress through the story in order to access all the State of Emergency challenges (in the same way you would the Time Trials). They vary from getting to a specific place on time to destroying specific items dotted around the map. I personally found these much harder than the time trials, because for many of them there isn't a clear route to take, which means it takes patience to figure out the fastest method to complete the challenge.

As of yet, there aren't any video guides to these challenges, so all I can say is, keep at it! with patience, you'll get gold on them all and unlock what is likely your final achievement:

Medal of Duty
