4. Anima: Gate of Memories 2nd Wing

An area called Laberynthos should be available now. It's the door under the stairs in the Arcane Core. Here you'll find a merchant named Velez. He sells items, weapons, accessories, and other stuff. I'm not going to mention it every single time because it'd be exhausting, but every time you go back to the Arcane Core, either after a dungeon or through the portal chamber, alwaysalwaysalways stock up on healing items and the stat boosting items like the Magic Core. You don't have many other uses for money, so might as well do something with it. Keeping topped off on healing items also means you can brute force sections easier if you find the mechanics frustrating. As for the weapons and the like, you likely won't find much better stuff in here, though if you're feeling brave you can buy the items that give extra experience once they appear later on. They give more experience but will have worse stats than the best stuff you can wear, so it comes at a tradeoff. The scrap is for the painting puzzles, which we obviously don't need now. Nothing is required for the item achievement, but the Prison Key is necessary for rescuing all the prisoners. Finally, if you jump onto one of the bookcases in here, you can jump onto the balcony and find an Eight Stept on the balcony.

Go through the door to the 2nd wing. It's the northern door on the 1st floor.

2nd Wing

2nd Wing

Go down the stairs for a new enemy called a Dullahan. It can use a wide swing with it's axe, slam the ground with it's axe, or shoot a magic bolt at you. As always, stay away from it and hit it with Magic Beam. One thing to note about its ground slam is if it hits you'll be stunned and you'll have to move the analog stick around. This can open you up to attacks from the Dullahan or (in other fights) other enemies, so stay away at all costs. Once it's dead face the stairs to the west and go around the left side of the stairs to find an alcove with an Armor Core. Now go up the stairs to the west and get the Silver weapon to the south. Then go north and follow the path to some floating platforms. Use them to get to the east side of the area. Hit the water orb on the right (the floating platforms by it activate so you can use it as a shortcut) and use the pink glowing thing by the barrier to remove it. Now get on the floating platforms and go forward 2 or 3. If you turn left you'll see a Life Soul in the south, jump on the platform that leads to it and then jump up and grab it, then go through the door to the Outer Wall (the one that had the barrier we knocked down).

Outer Wall

Outer Wall

Go forward and you'll see a hydra. It will break the wall in front of you so you can jump to a Life Fragment. You'll see blades that come out of the wall, much like the spikes wait until they activate and then run past them. Keep going east until you see a block you can push. Push it a few steps, then jump on top of it and double jump to find a Eriol Brooch. Push it the rest of the way east and double jump to the next platform. Continue east until you reach a miniboss. Start by killing all the small hydra heads. The queen will show up after a few are killed. The heads will try to headbutt you if you are close, or shoot a fireball at you if you are far. Once the small heads are dead shoot the mother. Eventually more small heads will spawn, you can either kill them, or just shoot the queen until her health is gone (both methods damage her). Once she is dead head through the door to the east to the next area.

Central Chamber

Central Chamber

Go forward for some enemies to spawn. They block magic, so there's 2 ways to deal with them. You can melee them, as they tend not to attack too often, so you can simply mash cn_X until they die. The alternative is getting close to them and then shooting them with magic bolt, as they tend to not block magic as much when you're close enough to them. Note that some archers spawn in the 2nd wave, kill them first.

Now there's some things to get. The alcove to the south has an NPC to talk to. Now head east to the big staircase. Go around the left side for an alcove with a Bone Katana. Go around the right side of the staircase for a spike trap set up. You'll see an item, with spike traps all around it. Inch forward until they activate, then wait for them to pass the item, run the path the spike traps took to get the item and then leave the other way. You'll get a Prison Key. If you go up the big stairs you'll see a statue with a water orb at the top. If you look to the right and left you'll 2 statues with a water orb as well. Hitting the orbs in a certain order opens doors in the area. All directions are given as if you are facing the middle one on the ground.

Hit the left, middle, and then right. It opens the 2 doors to the Atrium, we'll go there shortly.
Hit left, middle and then left. This opens the door up the stairs to your left which leads to the inner chamber, we'll go there shortly.
Hit middle, right, left. This will open the door to the garden (guess when we're going there).
Hit right, middle, middle, left, right. You want to go up the stairs next to the right statue and follow the path until you see a broken column on the right. Wait and you'll see a platform appear, jump on it and you'll see more appear. On the 4th one, you need to wait until the absolute last second it's still there (riiiiight before it disappears) and then double jump in place to land on one that will spawn in the same spot. Then jump across 2 more and then double jump in place on that one to find a Gemna Dagger. If you look at the chandelier in front of you you'll see a Rametek Memory, double jump and try to get it. It's a bit of a pain in the ass to get but you need it. Now head to the inner chamber, which is the door at the end of the hallway up the stairs on the right.

Inner Chamber

Inner Chamber

You'll see a Rametek Memory ahead. Continue for a miniboss sort of fight. It may throw a horizontal slash from the sword, or it may throw 3 vertical waves from the sword. It may also cause an explosion right around it. It may also use a simple sword swing in front of itself. To hurt the boss, you have to hit it after one of the first 3 attacks. When he causes the explosion around him, it does massive damage (but has short range) and gives the biggest window to punish him. The other 2 attacks provide a small window, and the regular swing gives none at all. The way to tell whether you can hit him or not is whether he is on fire. When the fire goes away, you can hit him. The fight is simple, although it's reflex intensive. Lock on to him and run to your right in a circle around him. When you see him start to use something, dodge to the right, then hit him with a Magic Beam. If he uses the explosion, you can hit him with 3. For the other 2 attacks, just shoot one (if ya get greedy you'll get punished often).

Once it's dead, you'll be shown a switch you can now use with your magic. You may remember that you've seen a few of these at this point, we'll go back to them later. You can get past this one by locking onto the green switch and hitting it with Magic Beam. For now head to the exit. On the way out you'll be ambushed by a bunch of archers and melee enemies. Use the angel pillars for cover, and let the memory guardians come to you. Kill them, and then use the pillars to kill the archers with Magic Bolt. If you prefer, you can kill the archers first and then kill the melee enemies, you may find it easier. Once they're all dead, look for a small break in the north wall. It's about the same distance from the room with the boss and the exit. You'll find a Nine Lifes to the left, and the Portal Chamber entrance for this wing, so you can return to the Arcane Core/save if you like. Though note when you come back the enemies will respawn. You can just run to the east exit if you prefer, though. Now head to the Atrium, which has a door on each side of the bottom of the stairs in the Central Chamber.

Atrium

Atrium

In here you'll have to fight a ton of enemies. To start, waves of these red enemies will spawn. They will explode and do a ton of damage if they get close to you. Lock on to them and shoot them from afar with Magic Beam. One hit should kill them if you have the best magic boosting stuff. After a few waves memory guardians and marionettes will spawn, along with an archer or two. Note that while you fight these, the red guys will occasionally spawn, so move the camera often to try and catch them. Kill the archers first, then kill the marionettes, and then the memory guardians. Once they're all dead, hit the water orb switch on the west wall. Platforms will appear, follow them. You'll see an item on a balcony to the right, it's a Hinotori. Grab it and then jump on the platforms and follow them up to a Rametek Memory. If you aren't fast enough after getting the weapon wait until the platforms disappear and hit the switch again, and then try again. Once you have it you can return to the Central Chamber. Head toward the middle area and you'll be ambushed by a bunch of flying fish. Dodge their magic bolt attack and shoot them with Magic Beam. They can also charge at you if you are close enough, so try to stay away from as many of them as possible. Once they're dead head to the Garden, which is the southern door.

Garden

Garden

In the Garden, follow the path to a switch and hit it. Platforms will spawn, and occasionally flying fish will too. The platforms spawn in "waves". A few will spawn, then after a few seconds others will spawn, and so on and so forth. You'll see an item in the air ahead, wait until a path appears that goes right by it instead of trying to jump to it (it's a Life Fragment). Some of the platforms don't last for very long, so you have to be pretty quick. At the end you'll find a Rametek Memory. Hit the switch on the platform with the memory to return to the starting platform and try to go back to the Central Chamber. On the way you'll be attacked by a Dullahan and a bunch of marionettes. Stay away from the Dullahan and kill the marionettes with Magic Beam, then kill the Dullahan with the same. Return to the Central Chamber. Exit west to the Outer Wall. Head west until you see a green gem in the foreground, hit it with magic bolt. 2 platforms will spawn, use them to jump up and reach the last Rametek Memory. Return to the Central Chamber.

You want to hit the green gem near the left statue we used for the puzzles. Now rush to the end of the hallway and destroy the portal. You want to use Bearer to kill the enemies with magic, then switch to Ergo and hit the portal with physical attacks, since the portal has a high magic defense. When the red exploding guys spawn, lead them to the portal and let them blow up next to it for a good chunk of damage. When more enemies spawn, kill them and go back to the portal, repeat until it dies. You have a timer, if time is up you fail and have to try again. if you make sure the red guys explodes by it, it shouldn't prove to be much trouble. Once it's down the door ahead leads to the Core, and the boss fight is beyond.

Rametek Core

Activate the 5 candles and then head into the boss fight room. He dashes around a lot, when he does this he can dodge your magic and also dash right next to you very quickly, so once he starts dashing wait until he dashes close to you and dodge away before attacking him. His attacks : throwing 2 shockwaves right at you (dodge left or right), charging at you and hitting you twice (the first hit is hard to dodge, dodge away from the second), and he also loves to jump in the air and drop down on you. Occasionally he will jump up on a rock and start shooting bolts of energy at you that home in on you. You can dodge away from them. If you go straight left from where you are when he does this (a scene starts) you'll find some stairs, stand on them and stick to the wall and they should hit the cliff in front of you, so you take no damage. Lock on to him when he does this, as when he finishes he will jump and try to land on you. You'll be able to tell when he does it because the lock on cursor will disappear. As for the fight, stay away from him and blast him with Magic Beam. Although in the video I spam it, you might be better off shooting one and then moving around a bit, as this makes it a bit easier to dodge his 2 wave attack. He uses it more the lower his health gets, to the point he starts spamming it. If you're spamming Magic Beam at him it'll be hard to dodge it, as you'll learn from my video. Once his health gets low, about 1/4, he starts using some skill that stuns you, I don't see a way to dodge it. You have to move the left stick to get rid of it. As you are stunned he will prep a big attack, and then jump down on you, so be ready to dodge them. Once he's dead you'll be in the Arcane Core again with an achievement.
