5. Anima: Gate of Memories 3rd Wing

3rd Wing

No map here, the map is messed up and you can only see half of it, even when you scroll around.

Save and head to the 3rd wing, which is the eastern door on the 1st floor. Go forward and you'll see one of those red exploding guides spawn ahead, ignore him for now. Head up the stairs until The Bearer says something. Continue up the stairs and keep an eye on the left wall, you should see a small red flaming section. You need to lead the suicide guy into it, but he blows up when he's close to you so the "challenge" is leading him to the red wall before he explodes. Leave and return to respawn the guy, then let him come down to the 2nd set of stairs. Stand on the right side, and then when he gets close dodge to the left side and jump up to the platform next to the stairs and run to the red flaming wall and get him to blow it up. You'll find a Gae Bolg in the small passageway. There's a Life Fragment to the right on the first big landing (past the 2nd set of stairs). Now head up the stairs, and keep an eye on the right side and you'll see a green switch you can activate, go through the door to an area with a Core of the Fantasy in front of you, grab it and return to the 3rd wing. Continue north, and when the room opens up get the Jian to the right. Now go south through the door.

Lia's Road

Lia's Road

Go straight south all the way to the bottom of the area. When it opens up again get the Life Fragment to the north, and break the big stone head in the middle of this clearing. A Noth will spawn. It may charge at you and slam the ground you're on, or it will disappear and then land on top of you. When he disappears just run away and it won't hit. To avoid his charges, just stay far away from him. He can also make a shock-wave, but if you are far away it won't hit. Just stay away and use Magic Beam like always. Return to the start of the area and you'll encounter new enemies on the way. For the black ones, switch to ergo and use his Dark Beam. For the white ones, use the Bearer's Magic Beam. Or ignore them, as I tend to do. They're a pain in the butt to deal with. Their only ranged attack is charging up and throwing a bolt. At the start of the area, head straight southwest to a small alcove (more of the casters on the way). You'll find a Magic Soul here. Follow the south wall east, you'll climb a hill with a Nature Bell on top of a body. Head straight north and a wing icon thing will appear on your map and you can talk to the NPC that spawns there. Now head into the Zodiac Temple exit to the southwest, in the southwest corner of the map.

Zodiac Temple

Zodiac Temple

In this area head west until you see stairs on your right, go up them. You'll find a Life Fragment on the left. Continue forward to find an Ancient Lance. A bunch of the casters will spawn. Try to use the walls to block some of them from shooting and blast them with Magic Beam. Once they're dead, you'll find another stone head to the west in a little alcove, break it. You'll find a War Core north of it. Go around the right side of the wall with the fence and follow the wall to a little alcove with the war core. Go back to where you fought the casters, and face east to see a door. Go up to the 3 stairs that lead to it and drop down the left side. Behind the bushes is a small cave with a Prison Key. Now return to the previous area, the barrier west of the NPC is gone and you can go through it to the Great Plains. We'll actually deal with this area in a minute. For now follow the wall south to reach an alternate entrance to the zodiac temple. If you look to the right you'll see a hole with an item, it's a Bahamut Tooth. Jump back up and head west. When you see a hill on the right going up ignore it and go straight to find a Life Fragment. If you have as many life fragments as you're allowed you'll get money instead. This happened to me a few times and I still got the achievement. If you're worried you can use a life fragment before picking it up to make sure you get it, but remember you'll have to do this each time, and also for other items with a limited stack size like Magic Cores and such. Now head up the hill and talk to the NPC. Afterward hit the water orb thing near him to open the gate, then go through it to the part of the Zodiac Temple you were in before. The pillars with the glowing symbols are a puzzle. The color of the symbols change depending on who activates them.

Activate the northwest and southwest symbols with Bearer.
Activate the northeast and southeast symbols with Ergo.

A Kappel Memory will spawn to the north, pick it up. We're done with the temple. Return to the Great Plains (east exit through the gate).

Great Plains

Great Plains

Follow the wall to the west, you'll find a Magic Soul near a tall rock. Keep following the wall west. You'll pass some stone columns, and when you reach a tiny alcove a Seraphim will spawn. It can throw it's scythe at you, throw a cross-shaped beam of energy, or charge at you. Can ya guess what I'm going to tell you to do? Stay away and use Magic Beam. When you hit it with a Bolt, wait and see what it does. Sometimes it will strafe left or right, and then it will start moving straight at you. When it does this, hit it with another Magic Beam. Repeat until it dies. Note that after you hit it, it will occasionally throw a cross spell at you afterward, so move left or right after you hit it to dodge just in case. Once it's dead enter that small alcove the gate covered to find another Kappel Memory AND a Prison Key behind it. Continue following the wall west and you'll reach a blocked passage. Past it you'll find a Life Fragment. Continue following the wall. Once you're on the west side of the area you'll see a big water wall on a rock formation on the right, it's a portal room. Return to the Arcane Core, save and talk to the NPC in the middle.

Return to the Great Plains via the portal room. Continue following the west wall north, to find a tiny alcove with a red tree, the item here is a Barakiel Ring. Follow the wall east now, you'll find a Ki Soul a bit before the wall starts going southeast. Keep going and you'll find a big rock formation to the right with a bunch of floating platforms around it. You'll need to jump across all these to get the Kappel Memory at the end. Some of them move, some don't. Generally speaking, I found it easier to wait until the platforms were close enough to reach with a regular jump and then jumping, though you can use double jumps too. If you look straight west from the Kappel Memory, you'll see one of the statue heads from the scene. It will start by shooting 3 lasers before pausing for a second. Attack it when it stops shooting lasers with magic bolt. As it's health depletes, it will start shooting 4 at a time, and then 5. The same pattern applies. Once it's dead, stand where it was and face west and slightly south, you'll see an item, it's a Swordbreaker. It's just north of the stone circle. West of the stone circle, and slightly south, is another item, The Left Eye. It's almost directly south of the Heart of the Mountain entrance. Southeast of the stone circle on the map is the 2nd head. Destroy it. This head shoots energy bolts that home in on you, but they move slowly. Dodge away from them and shoot the head when it's not shooting you. For the last item of this area, head to the stone circle on the map and stand in the middle. Use the Core of the Fantasy from your item menu for a Kappel Memory.

Heart of the Mountain

Heart of the Mountain

Now take the entrance to the Heart of the Mountain area (west side of map). Follow the path to the west all the way around until you see a glowing stone head, break it. You'll see platforms spawn, and masks at the top of the rock in the middle. You need to jump up the platforms and reach a mask, and then hit it with a melee attack. Once one mask is broken, lasers that sweep the bottom 3 rows of platforms spawn. If the laser hits you, you are automatically sent back to the beginning platform. You'll need to watch out for the lasers, and note that if you jump and hit the laser for the row above you, you'll still be sent back. Once you hit the 2nd mask, 2 lasers will sweep each row instead of one. I don't really have many tips because it really all comes down to your reflexes. The best I can give you is that you'll need to double jump to reach the platforms. Keep in mind that you can jump, and then delay the second jump to help you correct your path to land on a platform, and also to sneak over/under a laser that is about to sweep the platform you are jumping to. Once you destroy the 3rd mask, platforms will appear you can take up to a Kappel Memory. Go back to the ground level and head east to find a Life Soul in the corner. Return to the Great Plains and head to the Hidden Meadow (the entrance is west of where we fought the Seraphim, in the south side of the map).

Hidden Meadow

Hidden Meadow

Head forward, getting the Life Fragment, and prepare for a big fight. To start you'll face the black/white casters. Once they are all dead, the laser head will show up again. The only difference is it starts with shooting 3 lasers at a time, and then jumps to 6 at about half health. Casters will spawn during this, so be prepared to kill them when they spawn. After that, you'll have to fight 2 Noths. Stay away from them like always and hit them with Magic Beam. Always keep the other one you aren't shooting on camera, so you can stay away and avoid his leap attack. Once they're dead, go into the west door to find the core, boss time.

Kappel Core

Put the memories in their spot and go through the door. The first thing to pay attention to is the two orbs above him. If they are white, only The Bearer can damage him. If they are black, only Ergo can damage him. As for attacks...if those two orbs spin in a circle around him, he's about to shoot 5 red beams at you, you can dodge right or left twice to avoid them. He may strafe left or right, throwing red columns of energy that...aren't even aimed at you. The only way they can hit you is if you run the same direction they are going, so don't do that. He dashes around a lot, and has a few melee attacks if you get close enough. Occasionally he will dash to the middle of the arena. He has 2 attacks here, you'll either see red orbs appear and then be thrown at you once all 5 are spawned (you can avoid them by just walking left or right) or a bunch of energy waves will come out of him in an expanding circle. You just have to stand between the waves to avoid damage. Keep an eye on him when he does this, if you're dodging the waves and he charges up the red orbs, you may get caught off guard. When his health gets lower, he will summon dark/light casters for help, and use an attack where he holds his hand in the air and the orbs spin around it. He will summon a circle that does damage much like Nascal did, which you need to dash out of.

As for actually fighting it, my suggestion is, as always, to stay away from it and use Magic Beam. It seems if you stay close to him or try to melee him a lot he swaps the orb colors more often, and that gets so damn annoying. If you're far away from him he swaps much less, and when he does switch to black he generally switches back to white after one Dark Beam from Ergo. The boss usually gets staggered when you hit him with a Magic Bolt, so I generally alternated between blasting him until my magic ran out and then running around while it regenerates, and then repeating. Once you've got him down to almost dead, the fight changes. You'll be at one end of the arena, and the boss will on the other. You need to reach the boss and hit him once with ergo, then the Bearer, then ergo, and then the Bearer to kill him. The red columns of energy will constantly be thrown at you to try and stop you. Although I didn't think about it in the video, you'd be best off locking onto the boss and using Assault, as this lets you close the distance very quickly. Once he's down you'll be back in the Arcane Core with an achievement, as always.

Next touch one of the doors on the Arcane 1st Floor that has 2 purple gems by it to return to Nowhere.

Nowhere (When trying to reach floor 2 of the Arcane Core)

No map, again.[/infomeessage]

Follow the path like last time, except on the long platform, you'll have to face a silver knight. He's not too hard. Hit him with melee a few times, and then dodge away when he uses an attack. The other attack he has is an enemy favorite, he will disappear and then slam down where you are, dodge away to avoid it. Once he's dead go to the end of it and jump down to the lower platform, then jump onto the platform to the left (the higher one) and find a Chronos Sand. If you stand on the edge where the item is you'll see a big platform below you, jump down on it and prepare to fight another Seraphim. It does much more damage than it did last time, so make absolutely sure you stay far away and hit it with Magic Beam. Once it's dead you'll be teleported back to the Arcane, except you'll be on the 2nd floor now with an achievement.

You can use the stairways to go back down to the 1st floor (or return to the 2nd). On the east side of the 2nd floor you'll find a Velez Seal. These appear to serve no real purpose, but they moved my Ultimate Collector tracker, so you have to get them. Now that we've got a bunch of keys, we'll free the prisoners that provide other things related to achievements. Head to the Mansion Basement. The fastest way to get there is through the Mansion Workshop from the portal chamber (you'll have a small scene here) and then heading to the mansion basement exit from here. Go through the first set of spike traps. You want to rescue the Helmet, Cat, Demon Bird and Strange mask. Note there is a "Bird" and a "Demon Bird", we need the Demon Bird. Here's the map again to find them easily.

Mansion basement

Once they're free, return to the Arcane Core. Talk to the Cat Mask (east side of the Arcane Core) for a Queen Azazel item. Talk to Helmet, and then leave the area and return and talk to him again. He will ask for a Blood Ruby, I'll mention it when we're in the area (it's gonna be awhile). Now talk to the Strange mask, he's behind the Cat Mask. He will tell you to find him. Now talk to the Demon Bird, which is in the southwest corner of the Arcane Core. Now lock onto it and attack it until it's got maybe 20-25% of it's health left, and then it will give you more money and an achievement.

Never hit any of the mask people again. If ya kill the Helmet or Strange their quests are gone, along with their achievements. I went to talk to Romeo at this point and he gave me a War Core. I don't think it matters for the achievement, but just in case. At the very least it unlocked the last conversation with Ergo for that achievement. Head to the Portal Chamber and go to the Inner Chamber, you should see the Strange mask right by you, talk to him. Now go back to the portal chamber and head to the Great Plains. Head to the alcove in the north part of the map with the red tree to find Strange again. That's all the side stuff for now.
