As somebody who has played Madden and NCAA football games for years, I was excited to see this game as a possible competitor to Madden as EA has been putting out a worse game each year.

I can honestly say that Axis Football is quite possibly the worst sports game I've played in years. It honestly feels like you're playing Madden 2002 or 2003, given the graphics and gameplay. The game play is clunky, the mechanics and animation of the players is severely limited, and the play by play from the commentators is incredibly dull and repetitive. Overall, the game is okay for what it's worth, but it is nowhere near the quality of graphics and game design that you'd expect in 2018/2019, especially for the 20 dollar price tag in the Microsoft store (at the time of writing this review, Jan 10 2019).

If you want a fairly easy, yet slighty frustrating, 1000G then this game is for you. If you've ever played Madden or NCAA Football, then you should have an easy time picking up this game and being successful. If you haven't, then this game may be a real pain as you get adjusted. I was excited to play this game but I was severely disappointed. If you want a quality, realistic football game then I would strongly recommend against buying this game.

As a lapsed football fan, I have played Madden yearly but long for something different. That Madden is the same game every year is not all that unfair a criticism. Anything to light a fire under EA is wanted.

Axis Football 2018 is not that game. It will not light a fire under anybody. I half suspect EA had a brand new developer do this game alone over a weekend to show how bad a football can be. Playing Madden after this will make Madden the best game you ever played in your life.

This is not a game one can review so much as catalog problems. Animation is terrible. Tackles lack any semblance of impact. Players cannot move north and south directly. Pass receptions are blind luck. You can throw any triple coverage and get a reception or pass to a wide open receiver and they wont. Running backs will occasionally run thru tacklers. Diving fot a tackle normally has you head the wrong direction once you start. The duration of contracts seems to be immaterial as guys with years left will suddenly have zero left after a season. Outside of "it did not crash", i have difficulty saying nice things about it.

    A truly abhorrent game.
