MISSION #18: The Talon of God

It is time for the final mission of the main game. Talk to the people around Sanctuary and finally to Claptrap to start the quest. You start off in the Eridum blight and have to defend claptrap for a few waves while he opens the doors to Hero's Pass. Once in Hero's Pass you will fight through wave after wave of loaders, assassins, and constructor bots alongside the other vault hunters.

First up we need to defeat Jack who uses a shield and will summon holographs of himself that run around to bamboozle you. I think some adds will spawn as well but this is actually incredibly simple and doesn't really require any strategy. Once you beat him up it's time to fight the warrior. This fight can take a while but overall is a pretty average boss fight in terms of difficulty. The short version is: Stay in the center of the map and shoot his chest in order to reveal his weak spot. Less short version: The warrior walks around the stage, which will do lots of damage if he steps on you. Fire breath which is pretty self-explanatory, a tail whip that will send you into the air (makes sure you don't land in the lava) and he will dive into the lava which will cause the surrounding lava to rise and you have to find high ground in order to not get hurt. The center of the map is by far the safest place from all attacks. The warrior has four chunks of rock on his chest that when you shoot will reveal his weak spot. Every time he dives into the lava he regenerates these rocks and you have to break them again. Shooting his open mouth is also a critical hit. The warrior isn't weak to any type of damage but is resistant to incendiary, explosive, and slag damage. Finally, there are a lot of weak Rakks that fly around and make for great second winds if you go down. after beating both Jack and the Warrior you will unlock:

And that's the main game. You have a pretty important choice to make here. You can keep playing at the current difficulty and start the DLCs and try and clean up the side quests, or you can start a New Game + on an increased difficulty. Doing this does require you to start all over in terms of side missions (but not levelling, challenges, or inventory.) and that kinda sucks. In my opinion, I enjoyed this game enough to start over and play it again, but you may not feel that way and I don't blame you. Starting true vault hunter mode will easily double the time it takes you to complete this game. NOTE: you do NOT have to start true vault hunter mode in order to keep using this guide. The remaining pages of the guide are the breakdowns of the DLC (yes I know they are not DLCs in the next-gen version but I don't know how else to refer to them) and are actually a ton of fun, some of the best DLCs I've ever played.

Either way, between playing the DLC on normal or TVHM you'll keep levelling up. Most likely your character will be around level 30 by the end of the normal play. Once you level to 50 through this all, you'll also get the big one.

AVAILABLE SIDE MISSIONS

- You. Will. Die
Availability: Patricia Tannis in Sanctuary after making it to The Talon of God
Objectives: Slay Terramorphous the Invincible
Extra hints and tips: I can not emphasize just how hard this boss is if you're going to try and fight him right after you beat the game. We recommend you do some of the DLC's before trying to fight his guy. When you are ready to fight him, you must head to thousand cuts, make your way downstairs and pay a small pittance of eridium to start the fight. You are taken to an area when you drop down and summon Terramorphous. He is vulnerable to slag and not much else so bring a slag weapon. Terramorphous spends most of his time tunnelling under the map and popping up at various ranges from you. He has a swipe and smash attack both of which do massive knockbacks and can easily kill you. He also has a projectile attack that ill cover in a second. He will summon three different types of tentacles that shoot spikes, big rocks, and lasers at you. Killing these will drop ammo, health, and provide second winds. Here is the strategy we used to make this boss fight doable (but not shorter). There are a group of rocks near the entrance/exit coming off of the wall.

You can stand here to avoid 99% of Terrmorphous's attacks. Your view will look like this for most of the fight.

This guy still has a ton of health so odds are this will take you a second. The only reason you have to move from this spot is when he spawns up close and to the left of you, as sometimes his melee hits can reach you here. Simply run away like a cowardly fool and wait for him to tunnel somewhere else.

Unlocks: Achievement Thresher Trashed
Hand in: Sanctuary

And if you have followed the guide up to this point and completed all the other side missions in the "base" game then you will unlock
