Some tips before you begin:

  • Take cover as much as possible, and proceed slowly. If you're out in the open, even just one enemy can tear you apart and send you back to your last checkpoint.
  • Use grenades if you have them, but remember that enemies have grenades too!
  • If a particular path isn't working for you, try a new one. It's likely that you'll discover better places for cover and where you can take out enemies more effectively.
  • If you feel like you've hit a wall and simply can't proceed, take a break. Seriously. There are a few sections that can cause excruciating frustration. When this happens, it's best to just put the controller down, take a break, and come back refreshed.
  • Although I'm providing veteran playthrough videos by NextGenTactics, it's important for you to understand that enemy positions, spawns, and situations may be drastically different in your game. The videos are to provide guidance for particular sections you may struggle with.

Mission 1: Operation 40

Objective: Escape the Police

Play through the opening cutscenes and you'll eventually be in a bar with Woods and Bowman. After an altercation with a soldier, you'll be given a gun and will slowly learn the basic controls of the game. Follow Woods throughout the street as you take out enemies, and make sure to use your grenade launcher on the cars. Keep following Woods until you enter the driver's seat of a car, then follow the directions on-screen to drive the car until you're back in the torture chair.

Objective: Use Zipline to Infiltrate the Compound; Find and Kill Castro

After you use the zipline, melee the soldier then continue along the path. At the top of the path, when Bowman opens the door to the building, walk straight to the crates ahead and you'll find Intel 1/42 on the crate with the RPG.

Continue fighting into the next building, and when you and Woods breach the second door, make sure you shoot the man (Castro) in the head to unlock:

Objective: Escape Compound

In the next area, Bowman will bust down the door of a bedroom on the right side and kill an enemy soldier. Head into the bedroom that Bowman was in, then look at the desk in front of the bed to find Intel 2/42.

Once you clear the building and head outside, loads of enemies will be waiting for you. This is a good section to try and get an achievement for killing 5 enemies with a single frag grenade. To do this, take cover behind the sandbags on your left, wait a few seconds for the enemies to converge in the middle area, then cook a grenade and throw it near the trucks and red barrels. Hopefully, the explosion will kill at least 5 enemies. If not, you can kill yourself by holding a grenade and try again to unlock:

Mission 2: Vorkuta

Objective: Escape Vorkuta

You'll meet Reznov and will start a revolt where you and the other prisoners attempt to escape the prison. Simply follow Reznov until you are outside and reach Step 4 of the revolt.

Objective: Step 4: Unleash the Horde

Once you and Reznov enter the building and Sergei begins busting down a door to the arms lockers, head up the first set of stairs. In the next room, look on top of the cabinets on your left for Intel 4/42. Head up to the roof and take control of the slingshot. You'll have 3 targets to hit with the slingshot and you need to hit all 3 of them in a row, without missing, for an achievement. Here's how you do it:

  • Right target: Have the very bottom of the reticle about an inch above the middle of the word "Target." You're aiming for the guard tower, if that's not obvious. This one is hard to miss.
  • Middle target: Have the very bottom of the reticle touching the white dot underneath the word "Target."
  • Left target: Have the very bottom of the reticle touching any part of the word "Target." This one's also hard to miss.

Continue through the mission for several minutes until you slide under a door that traps Sergei.

Objective: Deactivate the Security Door

On the other side of the door, don't head into the room on your left where your objective marker is. Instead, when looking at the stairs in front of you, go through the entrance on the right. In this room, go to the desk on your left for Intel 5/42. Continue following your objective for a while until Reznov gets on a motorcycle, but don't get on yours yet.

Objective: Step 8: Freedom

Before you hop on the motorcycle, turn around towards the back of the garage, and look on the shelves on the left (east) wall for Intel 6/42.

In the next section, you need to destroy all enemy vehicles for an achievement. While on the motorcycle, make sure you kill every motorcycle enemy and destroy the one enemy truck. Once you hop onto the truck with the MG, make sure you kill all motorcycle enemies, trucks, and the helicopter to unlock:

Mission 4: Executive Order

Objective: Infiltrate Baikonur Cosmodrome

After a few minutes, you and Woods will wear some disguises and head inside of a building. Once inside, take out the enemies and take the stairs up to the third floor (marked "3" on the walls). Rather than going up the ladder, go to the southwest side of the room towards the desks underneath the televisions. The desk on the right has Intel 7/42.

Objective: Protect Bowman and Brooks

Once you've secured the tower, you'll be given a crossbow with explosive bolts. Two trucks of enemies will drive in, which you should shoot and destroy with your explosive bolts. Then, an enemy MG truck will come in, which you should destroy as well. There will still be several enemies on foot, so kill them with the explosive bolts as well. Once it's clear and you're told to zipline, immediately kill yourself by holding a grenade. You'll respawn at the beginning of the explosive crossbow bolt section. Simply rinse and repeat this process until you unlock:

Objective: Abort the Launch at the Auxillary Control Bunker

You'll have a 5-minute timer to reach your objective, which is a bunker that you access by exploding the wall with C4. Once you breach the building and go inside, head to the southwest corner of the room and look on top of the control panels for Intel 8/42.

Objective: Find and Kill Dragovich

The tunnels might cause you some problems on Veteran. I recommend you make use of your smoke grenades and try your best to quickly advance from cover to cover as your teammates won't proceed forward without you. Furthermore, you'll go for long periods of time without checkpoints within the tunnels. Fight your way through for a while until you reach a room that has a white-tiled floor and is full of control panels and equipment. From this room, proceed forward and enter the first room on your right. In this room, look at the window on the east wall. To the right of this window, on top of the control panel is Intel 9/42.

Mission 5: S.O.G.

Objective: Destroy the T55 Tanks

A while into the mission, after you clear the trenches and defend the line, you'll be tasked with destroying three tanks by using an M72 LAW. South of where you pick up the LAW, you'll find an area with stacked with crates and ammo. In the middle of this area, on top of some crates is Intel 10/42.

Objective: Push Back the NVA

This is one of the hardest sections on Veteran, and you'll likely die multiple times during this. Your objective is to push back the enemies from the trenches, which can be accomplished by interacting with yellow-striped napalm barrels which the game will not mark for you. When you do interact with a barrel, some people have reported that spamming cn_X will help speed-up the animation. As you progress down the hill, make your way to the northeast bunker that's directly below one of the barrels. In this bunker, on the wooden part of the gun-slit is Intel 11/42.

Objective: Save Woods

Once you save Woods, head inside of the burning tunnel with him. About halfway through this tunnel, a soldier will be stumbling around and coughing. Northwest from this soldier, on a shelf is Intel 12/42.

Objective: Get in the Tank

Following the previous intel, you're going to want to save & quit to the main menu before you hop into the tank. Doing this creates a "save" so that you can reload the next section from where you quit out, in case you mess up while going for the next achievement.

Once you've saved and quit, reload your game and you'll ride the tank for a while until you're in control of the TOW missiles. What you need to do is destroy all 6 tanks by using only 6 shots (one for each tank). If you miss a shot, immediately quit out, and you can try again. Once you've destroyed the third tank, you'll get a checkpoint. Once you've reached this checkpoint, save and quit again to give yourself another "save". Once you load back in, take out the three remaining tanks, quitting out if you fail. Once you've destroyed all 6 tanks without missing a single shot, you'll unlock:

Use no more than 6 TOW guided missiles to destroy the tanks in the defense of Khe Sanh.

Mission 6: The Defector

Woods will give you a SPAS-12 with Dragon's Breath rounds. It's an extremely good weapon, so you'll be using it quite a bit. You'll get 10 kills in no time at all, unlocking:

Objective: Get to the LZ

After you breach the door, you'll be back with Reznov. Once you follow him out into the hallway, enter the first room on your right. In this small room is a desk with Intel 13/42.

Objective: Commandeer the Radio for Air Support

Once you've obtained the radio, you can call in air support to take out enemies. Keep calling in air support to take out the enemies as you follow the Bottom Feeder tank. Shortly after you begin following the tank, it will make a right turn on the road (north). Once the tank turns, head into the building that's directly west of the turn. Inside this building, on a desk is Intel 14/42. Make sure you're constantly calling in air support on the enemies so you unlock:

Mission 7: Numbers

You need to do this entire mission while only carrying dual-wield weapons for an achievement. You may also use grenades and your melee knife. You automatically start out the mission with dual-wield pistols, but there are some other dual-wield weapons you may pick up throughout the mission if you run low on ammo. If you are struggling with this on Veteran, it is much easier to do on Recruit while you're mopping up other achievements.

Objective: Escape with Dr. Clarke

At the beginning of the mission, immediately turn around and head left (west) past the metal shelf. On the desk next to a computer is Intel 16/42.

Much later in the mission, you, Weaver, and Clarke will slow-motion slide down a roof and kill the enemies below. When you land, immediately in front of you and to the left, behind a fence, is Intel 17/42.

Near the end of the mission, you'll get a cutscene where you're trying to save Clarke. After an unfortunate event, Weaver will pull you up and you'll be jumping down from rooftop to rooftop. Keep track of how many jumps you do. After the 4th jump, immediately turn around (so you're facing south) and head forward to find Intel 18/42 in the trash.

For completing this mission, and for completing it with only dual-wield guns equipped, you'll unlock:

Mission 8: Project Nova

Objective: Assault the German Base and find Steiner

You need to push on in this area for several minutes until you reach your objective, which is inside of a building. Once you're inside, you'll head upstairs and Dimitri will say "He's not here!". In this room, the southern wall has a white map of North America, and beneath the map is a table with Intel 19/42.

Shortly after this, your objective will bring you to a large hangar. In the northeast end of the hangar is a small room that has a desk with Intel 20/42.

Objective: Escape the Ship

After you plant the explosives, you'll have a timer counting down in which you need to escape the ship with at least 2:15 left on the timer. This is much easier than it sounds. After you plant the explosives and shoot the clamp, sprint your way to the outer part of the deck and stick to the right (north) side as you go forward. Just before the stairs that lead up, on the right side is part of a wooden pallet that has Intel 21/42. For the enemies above you, you can try killing them as you run up the stairs, or you can try and get lucky and sprint past everyone and hope you don't get shot and die. If you do die, you can try again without penalty:

Mission 9: Victor Charlie

Objective: Kill VC on Boat

A few minutes into the mission, it'll just be you and Woods and you'll be taking a stealthy approach. When Woods tells you to take out the VC on the boat, swim to the boat and you'll get a melee prompt to take out the enemy. This is the first of three silent VC kills you need for an achievement.

Objective: Place the C4

After you place the first C4 underwater, you and Woods will climb through a window. Immediately after you climb in, melee the sleeping soldier in the hammock for your second and penultimate silent VC kill. Just after this kill, enter the next room, then immediately make a U-turn left. In the corner of this small area is Intel 22/42. Then head to the soldier with his back turned to you and take him out for your third and final silent VC kill, unlocking:

Once you've detonated the C4, head directly east a ways until you get to a small shack with a makeshift, waist-high barricade in front of it. On the left side of the floor, at the very back of the small shack, you'll find Intel 23/42.

Shortly after this, Bowman will tell you to pick up the M202 (Grim Reaper) and destroy an MG nest out in the lake. After you take out the MG, hang onto the Grim Reaper. You'll soon get ambushed and have to fight your way east into a small shack. From here, you'll be attacked from the north, and soon another MG will start firing on you. Use the Grim Reaper to take out this MG as well, unlocking:

Later on in the mission, after you enter the rat hole, progress for a while until you meet up with Reznov and he says he'll follow you. You'll soon come to a fork and you need to go left (south). Mission 10: Crash Site

At the very beginning of the level, as you approach the boat, you'll see a flaming barrel. To the left (north) of this barrel is a wooden crate with Intel 25/42. Once you get on the boat, you'll be on it for a long time as you clear the river of enemies.

Objective: Investigate Crash Site

After the lengthy boat section, you'll dock the boat and will be on foot again. Immediately after exiting the boat, head just a few steps northeast, and in front of a rock on the ground, you'll see Intel 26/42.

After a while, you'll reach the crashed plane that's on fire, and can climb up its wing. On the other side of the wing, drop down to the ground below that's glowing red, and on the ground is Intel 27/42.

Mission 11: WMD

Objective: Get Kilo One to Safety

While you're in the Blackbird, you need to ensure your crew gets to the Comms Station without dying. Furthermore, this section is intercut with you playing as one of the members on the ground, and you can't die during this either. This is fairly straight-forward to complete. Simply listen to the pilot's instructions and follow the instructions. When you tell the squad to "Stop and drop", start clicking cn_RS or they'll all be killed.

During this section, when you bring your crew to the place marked "Barracks", you'll be on the ground with Weaver. When you enter the building, take out the enemies, then head down the stairs and immediately turn around. To the right of the stairs, on the green cabinet is Intel 28/42. Once you've reached the Comms Station without anyone in your crew (including yourself) dying, you'll unlock:

Objective: Neutralize the Comstat Personnel

After rappeling down and clearing a building, descend down the stairs and have your crossbow ready. You need to make your way to the relay station without being detected. To accomplish this, use your crossbow at a distance to take out the enemies while they're spread apart. This section doesn't last long and is fairly easy to complete. If you do get spotted and the alarm goes off, you can simply die/kill yourself and try again. Here's a visual guide by Rooster Teeth/Achievement Hunter:

Once you've unlocked the aforementioned achievement, you'll breach a building full of enemies and computers. Before heading down the stairs to the bottom floor of this building, in front of the stairs is a small room. In this room, on a bench to the right of two lockers is Intel 29/42.

Objective: Infiltrate the Nova 6 Facility

After you fight through this section for a while, you'll come to a building loaded with explosive blue barrels (it's the building that when you enter, Weaver says "Hudson... Do you see those wires?"). In this large room, head west towards the tables that have bombs on top. In front of the table that's lit up is a darker table that has Intel 30/42.

Mission 12: Payback

Objective: Get the Soviet

While heading through the tunnel with Woods, you'll end up in a room with a waterfall on the left (south) side of the room. On the opposite side of the room, along the northern wall, you'll find some shelves with Intel 31/42.

Objective: Capture the Hind

Before you get in the chopper, head northwest towards the green tent. In front of the entrance to the tent is a table with Intel 32/42.

Objective: Kill Kravchenko

After the chopper section, you'll make your way up to a cave. At the entrance of the cave, you'll encounter an enemy with a flamethrower. After you kill him, Woods will tell you to grab the flamethrower. The flamethrower is actually an attachment on the weapon (an AK-47) and you can use it by pressing cn_left. With the flamethrower equipped, make your way through the rest of the cave, killing enemies via incineration until you unlock:

Mission 13: Rebirth:

At the very beginning of the mission, you'll melee an enemy soldier and steal his hatchet. Immediately after this, look to your left, and on the floor behind the wooden crate is Intel 34/42.

Objective: Infiltrate the Soviet Lab and Confront Dr. Steiner (Mason)

As you fight your way through the lab, you'll reach an entrance to a room with a red flashing light in the middle. Before entering this room, you'll notice a bunch of monkeys in cages against the walls. Quickly throw grenades into southeast and southwest corner to kill a few monkeys, then shoot any remaining monkeys with your gun(s) until you kill 7 within 10 seconds. In the next room, you need to quickly go inside of the chamber in the middle of the room and grab Intel 35/42 on the cages. If you're too slow, the doors will lock and you can't get inside. However, if this happens in your game, you can obtain the intel later on in the mission while you're playing as Hudson. Also note that if you're able to make it inside of the chamber to grab the intel, the enemies may lock the door while you're inside, which will kill you. However, if you grabbed the intel anyway, it will still be saved and you can continue on.

Objective: Infiltrate the Soviet Lab and Confront Dr. Steiner (Hudson)

During this section, there's Nova Gas everywhere, and you and your crew will be wearing suits to protect you from the gas. This section replaces your health with suit damage, meaning that if you're shot too many times, your mask/suit will crack open and you will die. To avoid this, make sure to take cover often and slowly progress forward. Progress through the gas section until you reach the burning building. Instead of going inside (as your objective says to), go into the building to the right (north). Inside this building, in the northeast corner is a black cabinet with Intel 36/42.

After this, you'll infiltrate the lab. If you missed Intel 35 from earlier, you can grab it now while playing as Hudson.

Mission 14: Revelations

Shortly after you get out of your chair, you'll open a double door. Take an immediate left and head down the hall. Against the right wall you'll see a brightly lit vending machine, and on top of it is Intel 37/42.

After a cutscene with Steiner, the wall ahead of you reads "1 3 2 3 31 34" and some red numbers will fly at you. Turn right here (the game wants you to go left) and continue towards the end of the hallway. In front of the double doors, on the left side is Intel 38/42.

Shortly after the flashback with Kennedy and the rockets launch off, you'll enter a room with 8 blank television screens on the left wall. In front of the televisions is a desk with Intel 39/42.

Mission 15: Redemption

Objective: Shoot Down Enemy Helicopters; Pickup the Valkyrie Rockets

Once you're on the Rusalka, you'll be tasked to destroy two helicopters with the valkyrie rockets. From where you can pick up the valkyrie rockets, head slightly north into an open shipping container. From the entrance closest to the valkyrie rockets, wedged under the open door is Intel 40/42.

Objective: Neutralize all Threats

Once you enter the interior of the ship, you'll descend some stairs into a locker room with wet suits, then some more stairs into a control room. When you enter this room, immediately in front of you is a table. Behind this table, wedged underneath it, is Intel 41/42.

Objective: Stop the Transmission

Once you reach the flooded room with the map of the U.S.A. on the wall, climb up the stairs and you'll be in a room with two desks on your immediate right. Underneath the left desk is Intel 42/42, your final piece of intel for:
