A Pin Pops a Balloon: Kill a Mancubus with the pistol
- The Mancubus is the fat enemy with the green eye. Having a full upgraded pistol will help with this, also equipping the Dazed and Confused rune helps as it keeps them in glory kill state for longer. It is not possible to kill them by just shooting, you have to use a charged shot. I didn't have the pistol mastered when I completed the challenge, but without the rune, it was impossible to do. I won't reference all the spots as the enemy appears in most areas.
Two Mouths to Feed: Kill 2 Cacodemons with one shot
- There is 1 perfect spot for this where 3 pretty much line up. You should use the Gauss Cannon and charge up the Siege shot. You just need to fire roughly near them to get the kills, so aim for the middle. Click the Cacodemons Challenge link to find the spot.
Wait For It: Kill 10 demons with explosive barrels
- There are only 3 good spots to get the barrel kills and they are near the start. You can jump to the spots by clicking Barrel 1, Barrel 2 and 3.
Head left at the start and through the teleporter. There is a Codex (1/3) in the left corner of the room you teleport to:
In the next area, at the top of the stairs is the first barrel for the Wait For It challenge. Shoot the imps to put them in a glory kill state, so they don't flame the barrel and wait for the Possessed to climb the stairs. When they are close, shoot the barrel. There will also be a Mancubus you can kill with a pistol for the challenge. Then head downstairs and go left. You will find a Codex (2/3) and an Argent Cell(1/1):
If you have got all Argent Cells up to this point then you will unlock:
Fully upgrade Health, Armor, and Ammo capacity on a single campaign run.
Head back up the stairs and into the next room where you will find another barrel. An enemy will charge through and kill the possessed so you have to blow it up before that happens to get any to count. Then press the button and fight more enemies. Now go back down the stairs and turn right. This room is a good one to get 6 barrel kills for the challenge (there is a barrel at either side and 1 in the middle). Wait for them to walk close to the barrels and bunch up before blowing them up. Then press the button to spawn some enemies. You will get 2 Cacodemons here to try for the challenge, also 1 Mancubus. Once they are defeated, head to the right of where the yellow skull is to get the AutoMap:
Now go diagonally opposite from where the AutoMap is to locate the Lever that opens the Secret Door. Head back to where the AutoMap was and the gate will have lowered allowing you to go back to the previous area. On the far right corner is where the Secret Door is and enter here for Secret (1/3):
Now grab the yellow skull and head through the teleporter. Climb up to the middle and open the yellow door. Pull the switch behind it and head through the teleporter. You will fight more enemies here, including multiple Cacodemons and Mancubus for the challenge. Once they are defeated, grab the blue skull. Head through the teleporter and climb up into the middle. Open the blue door and pull the switch. Some enemies will spawn and once they are killed, the lower middle will open up. Jump into the hole here. When you land, the opposite way from the route you are to head along will be a Codex (3/3):
Drop into the next hole and you will find 3 Cacodemons in a row. This is the best place for the challenge. Jump across the next 2 platforms and at the edge of this one will be a platform below. Jump onto that to find a Secret (2/3) containing a Collectible (Tealguy):
Jump over the rest of the platforms and enter a hallway with a Mancubus and just before that, on your right will be an Elite Guard (1/2):
In the next room, in the back left corner is a Field drone (1/1):
If you have followed the walkthrough then you should also unlock:
The achievement actually unlocked early for me when I was loading that last rune trial.
Continue into the next area and defeat the enemies. Then head through to the new area that has opened up. After clearing the enemies here, look next to the new gate that opens to find an Elite Guard (2/2):
Continues through the gate and fight some more enemies. Once you have cleared out the enemies, head back to where you entered and look above the door you are to proceed through. You should see a big skull with a red glowing thing in the centre of its head. Shoot this with a rocket and if you hit is at the right spot (it can take a few tries, just above the middle of it worked for me), a Collectible (Hazmatguy) will come out and float down to you which gives you Secret (3/3):
Then go through the door and press the button at the end to get taken to a fight against a Hell Guard. You can only do damage when lowers its shield to attack. After a little bit of damage it will start charging a big yellow lightning ball to fire at you. If you attack at this point then you will deal extra damage. After killing the first one, 2 more will spawn. I hammered these with 2 BFG shots and multiple rocket blasts and 1 didn't get a chance to attack or put its shield up, the other only got a few attacks off and no shields. Once they are defeated you will unlock:
A platform will then raise in the middle that you can interact with to end the level.
VEGA Central Processing (Level 12)
Variety is the Spice of Death: Perform 5 different glory kills on Imps
- Get Imps into the glory kill state and then perform the glory kills on different body parts each time. Just after the first collectible, you will drop into an area that contains 6 imps and no other enemies. This is where I got the challenge done. Just make sure you don't shoot them when they are on the wall as they will die without going into glory kill state. I used melee instead of firing to avoid accidentally killing them. You can jump to the relevant walkthrough section by clicking Imps.
Gore Pinata: Kill 3 demons with one Frag Grenade
- When you start the level, make sure you have the Frag Grenade equipped (left or right on the D-Pad to switch). There are a few spots that I tried this in. You can go for this anywhere you have 3 or more demons, but you want the weaker enemies which is why I would advise the corridors I mention. You can jump to the specific points by clicking Gore Pinata 1 and Gore Pinata 2.
My Teeth are Sharper: Kill a Cacodemon with the Chainsaw
- The Cacodemon appears in multiple areas of the game, so I won't reference specific point, just the first one a few appear in. They are the floating ball enemies. Simply equip the chainsaw and double jump up to them. The area I got it was Cacodemon
Head through either door and you will find a Codex (1/4):
Continue on and go through the Airlock. Once outside, take the first right and you will find an Elite Guard (1/3):
Climb up to the next path and follow it. You will come to a point in which the path is destroy. Drop down one level and then look across on the right side of this, you should see a door. Going through this leads to a Secret (1/5) containing a Collectible (Quakeguy):
Drop into the next area to fight some Imps you can use for the glory kill challenge. Then continue through the door and then hatch. Pull either of the objective switches to get into a fight. Once they are defeated pull the other switch and press the button. More enemies will spawn, including some Cacodemons you can chainsaw. Once dealt with, continue on the path, through the door and you should find some Possessed that can be used for the gore pinata challenge. Now head through the door in front of you and turn left. At the end of the room in the right corner is a Codex (2/4):
Turn around from the codex and there is a dead end path on the right. Find the hatch here and drop down. In the corridors ahead will be more than 3 easy to kill enemies that you should use the Frag grenade on for the challenge. Continue along the path to find the blue keycard. Then head out the door and go left. Here you will find the AutoMap:
Then go through the next door to fight 1 enemy and then interact with the Elite Guard (2/3) for a Secret (2/5):
just behind the Elite Guard are 2 small crate that are hiding the Lever to the Secret Door. Pull this and head back through the 3 doors you just came through and along this corridor will be the Secret Door to unlock another Secret (3/5):
Now head all the way back to the room with the lever and jump through the hole that the enemy came from. You will grab a Mega-health as you drop down. Turn around from where you land and drop to the platform below. Here you will unlock a Secret (4/5) and grab the Collectible (Jungleguy):
Climb up and head into the next room. Go through the door and drop down to the platform. In the right corner of this platform is a Codex (3/4):
Take out the 4 objectives here and all the enemies and then move on by jumping on the train. When the train stops, take out all the enemies and then find the elevator you are meant to up on. Underneath this is a Secret (5/5) containing an Elite Guard (3/3):
If you have been following the guide to this point and not missed an Elite Guard, then this should be your last required Praetor token to spend and unlock:
Fully upgrade all Praetor Suit categories on a single campaign run.
Now use the elevator to get back to the previous platform and then take the main elevator up. Head along the path and through the big door. Next to the central objective is the final Codex (4/4):
If you have followed the guide and found them all then this will unlock:
Now interact with the 2 objectives at the sides and then press the central button to complete the level.
Argent D'Nur (Level 13)
Hold Still: Kill 2 Barons of Hell with one shot
- You can not use the BFG for this. It doesn't count. I used the Gauss Cannon. I had Quad Damage and waited for 2 of them to line up and then fired a Siege attack at them. If you fail then reload checkpoint and try again. To jump to the point in the walkthrough to do this, click here
Uncharted Territory: Find all 3 "Skull Switch" secrets
Big [REDACTED] Gun: Kill 25 demons with the BFG
- Almost every section of the map has a big open area with lots of enemies, plus some BFG ammo. Just make sure you head around the area to get the enemies to spawn, before firing the shot. Also aim higher than the enemies so it doesn't hit the first one and disappear.
Follow the path and jump down to the next area. Here you will fight some enemies. If you run around, but don't kill anything then you can get a lot of enemies to spawn, then head back to where you entered and fire a BFG above them all. You can get around 13 BFG kills here, more if you wait and fire a second shot. Once you have defeated these enemies. Move on to the next area. Drop down one level and press the button on the right. Climb back up on the left hand side and you will come to an opening in the corner for a Secret (1/5):
Drop down past the button and you could use another BFG here for around 7 more kill. Once the enemies are killed, go to the right. You will find some stairs with the AutoMap at the top:
Jump across from here and work your way to the right. When you reach the furthest right platform, jump across to the platform behind the floating platform next to you and continue along. You should find a mega-health and then enter another area with a lot of enemies. Run around to get them to spawn and then use the BFG. This will most likely get the last ones you need if you followed my previous steps. Once you have defeated the enemies, head to the top and press the objective button. Then turn around and go left down the stairs. Half way down the stairs on your right will be a button. Press this and then go right at the bottom of the stairs, into the opened door. Follow this round and when you climb up, there is a Lever in front of you. Pulling this opens the Secret Door to your right. Enter here for Secret (2/5) and upon exiting the secret door, heading straight forward will give you another Secret (3/5):
Follow this path and drop into the next area where you will fight a lot more enemies. Another good BFG spot. After clearing the enemies, go up the left set of stairs and you will find a gap in them that you can fall into for a Secret (4/5) containing a Collectible (Cosmoguy):
Press the objective button and then make your way to the next objective path. You will drop into the next area, pass a door on your left and then lava flowing on your right. You will head up some stairs and the path will take a sharp left. To the right here is a button you can press that opens the door you passed previously for another Secret (5/5):
Continue to the next area for more enemies to kill. Near the end of the enemy spawns, you will get 3 Barons of Hell for the challenge. The BFG does not count for this challenge, so save the Quad Damage to give yourself more edge. If you have followed the guide and got all challenges to this point, then this should be your last group of challenges and you will unlock:
After killing the enemies and then activate the final objective. Then jump into the hole and face the final boss. The tactics here are simple. Dodge the attacks as best you can and keep on shooting. You will only fight the boss once, it doesn't revive at any point so don't conserve any ammo, just keep shooting with everything you have. Once defeated you will be given the Collectible (Goldguy) and if you have followed the guide in full, you will unlock:
Knee-Deep in the Dead
Complete the campaign on "I'm too Young to Die", "Hurt Me Plenty", "Ultra-Violence", or "Nightmare"
Ultra-Nightmare The UAC
This will probably be the last story achievement you go for. Ultra-Nightmare difficulty is locked until you complete level 6. You have 1 life, so if you die, you start again. The difficulty is the same as Nightmare difficulty. The thankful part is you only need to complete the first level.
You will die within a few hits, so you have to keep moving and dodge the enemy attacks. If you can clear out the enemies from a distance then you should. Don't charge into every area unless you have a lot of confidence in your abilities. Make use of your grenades, as well as the shotgun. The pistol is useful for long range kills, if you have the chance. Running away and recharging grenades is always a good tactic too. Completing the first level on Ultra-Nightmare will unlock:
I made a video of my run that you can use for reference:
