KILL SPECIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS

Get 100 glory kills

Getting 100 glory kills will probably be one of your first achievements. Unless you are shooting at point blank range, most enemies will go into glory kill state. You then just need to melee them to get the glory kill. I wouldn't worry about missing this as it's the second most common achievement (after the unmissable first mission achievement).

Get 100 explosive barrel kills

This achievement came naturally for me as well. Any time there is a barrel in the area, it normally has at least 1 or 2 enemies near it. The barrel explosions have a lot of splash damage so you should get some kills on enemies that are not right next to them as well. If you still need this when you're done with the campaign, take a look at Dwaggenite's map in his solution - it should be a very easy way to knock it out. Once you kill 100, the achievement will unlock:

Timing is Everything

Use explosive barrels to kill 100 enemies

Get 50 chainsaw kills

You will first encounter the chainsaw on level 2. It starts with 3 units of fuel and that can be increased to 8 when you fully upgrade the Ammo category using Argent Cells. You refill 3 units each time you loot a fuel can. The weaker enemies (The Possessed, Possessed Soldiers, Imps) take just 1 unit to kill. Bigger enemies take more. Getting a chainsaw kill will provide you with a lot of ammo for your guns, so you should make frequent use of it as you play. There is always plenty of fuel to loot, so it isn't worth waiting. On your 50th kill, you will unlock:

Get 150 powerup kills

The second level contains the first powerup, and from then on, there are usually at least 2 or 3 powerups per level. Make use of these whilst you are getting kills to work on this achievement. If you get to the end of the single player and still need this, then I would advise using level 6 (Kadingir Sanctum) as there are 4 powerups on that level and they are all in areas containing a lot of enemies (I detail the locations in the level walkthrough). You can put Praetor Tokens into upgrade the powerups so they last longer. After your 150th kill, you will unlock:

Juicin' it Up

Kill 150 enemies while using Power Ups

Glory kill all common enemy types

You have to glory kill each type of common enemy for one of the achievements. This will likely come naturally as you are often presented with glory kills of each time of enemy. You can track which enemies you have got the glory kill on by pressing the touch pad and looking under the Codex menu (far right) at the Monsters section. There is one monster that appears in this section that you can not Glory Kill which is the Lost Soul. The enemies you need to glory kill and the levels they first appear on are:

The Possessed: The UAC (level 1)

Imp: The UAC (level 1)

Possessed Soldier: The UAC (level 1)

Possessed Engineer: Resource Operations (Level 2)

Hell Razer: Resource Operations (Level 2)

Possessed Security: Resource Operations (Level 2)

Hell Knight: Foundry (Level 3)

Summoner: Argent Facility (Level 4)

Revenant: Argent Energy Tower (Level 5)

Mancubus: Argent Energy Tower (Level 5)

Unwilling: Kadingir Sanctum (Level 6)

Cacodemon: Kadingir Sanctum (Level 6)

Baron of Hell: Kadingir Sanctum (Level 6)

Pinky: Argent Facility (Destroyed) (Level 7)

Once you get a glory kill on each of these, you will unlock:

Rip and Tear

Glory Kill all common enemy types in the campaign.

UPGRADE SPECIFIC ACHIEVEMENTS

Rune upgrades

You unlock each rune by completing each rune trial throughout the story. You will get them all if you follow either the text or video walkthrough. I will list these in ones you can combine together, rather than order they unlock.

Collection

These 4 can be combined as they are related to collecting items as you play.

Vacuum: Absorb 300 dropped items

  • Just having this equipped as you play will get this one upgraded as anything you collect will count. Collecting ammo is one of the quickest, refer to Ammo Boost for why

Ammo Boost: Pick up 500 ammo items

  • Ammo can be collected most efficiently using the chainsaw after you have depleted most weapons ammo.

Armored Offensive: Earn 2500 points of armor

  • Having this equipped means that demons will drop armour when they are glory killed. Also any armour you loot will count towards it. I would recommend equipping this when it is unlocked, to upgrade it as you finish the story. If you want to grind out the upgrade then you need to find any room that contains enemies and armour, take damage and then loot the armour, then reload the checkpoint and repeat

Rich Get Richer: Fill your armor value to max 12 times

  • This one can be done easily if you are at full armour and near an armour loot. Simply get hit and loot the armour to get back to full again. You can repeat this until done 12 times, it doesn't have to be a full refill, just enough to reach the limit again.

Glory and normal Kills

These 8 can be combined in any combination to work on multiple together:

Dazed and Confused: Perform 25 Death from Above Glory Kills

  • This is easier to work on after the start of level 5 as you have thrust boots so you can double jump making "death from above" glory kills easier.

In-Flight Mobility: Kill 30 demons while in mid-air

  • A "Death from Above" glory kill will count towards this. So this combines perfectly with Dazed and Confused rune.

Seek and Destroy: Glory Kill 75 demons

  • Simply get 75 glory kills with this equipped. No tips needed as it should be a common killing method anyway.

Savagery: Perform 25 unique glory kills while savagery is equipped

  • With this equipped, you need 25 unique glory kills. So from the front, the behind, at the arms, legs, or head. Each gives a unique glory kill. Different enemies perform different glory kills on the same spots, so I wouldn't even worry about this. Just equip it and run through some levels and it should come naturally if you glory kill most enemies.

Blood Fueled: Kill 50 demons during the speed boost

  • The speed boost starts after a glory kill is performed, so this combines with any of the above. Basically perform a glory kill and then kill some demons quickly. If you perform another glory kill then it will keep the speed boost going. A quick way of doing this is in a heavily populated area, glory kill an enemy and then use the BFG to kill as many in the area as you can.

Intimacy is Best: Stagger 100 demons

  • A stagger is putting an enemy into a glory kill state. You can repeat on the same enemy if you wish, but I would recommend just running through the levels with this equipped, or finding an enemy heavy area and reloading when you have almost killed them all.

Equipment Power: Use 30 Equipment Items

  • This is quicker to do once the Equipment System section of the Praetor Suit is upgraded as equipment recharges quicker and you have 2 to use at a time. The equipment is used by pressing L1 and you can see it recharge in the bottom right.

Saving Throw: Kill 10 demons while Saving Throw is active

  • This is very easy to get. With a BFG equipped, in an area with a lot of enemies, let the enemies hit you until you run out of health. The game will slow down, this is saving throw. Now fire the BFG above the enemies and it will count every kill you get as long as you were quick enough. Reload and repeat if needed. You can't just repeat it as the saving throw only works once.

Once you upgrade one of the runes, you will unlock:

Gun modification upgrades

Before you can master a weapon mod, you first need to upgrade it. To get weapon upgrade points, you need to find collectibles and kill as many enemies in the level. There is a tracker in the top right of the hud that shows you how close to each upgrade point you are. You unlock this hud on the third level. My tips assume you are on the easiest difficulty as the enemies die quickest there.

Combat Shotgun

Charged Burst: Kill 5 Mancubi with the Charged Blast

  • The Mancubus first appears on Argent Energy Tower (Level 5). Simply get the kill of 5 of them using the charged shot.

Explosive Shot: Get 20 direct hits on Imps with the explosive shot

  • I used the first level for this one as there are quite a few imps. I combined this with Stun Bombs on the plasma rifle.

Super Shotgun

Improvements: Kill multiple demons with a Super Shotgun blast 30 times

  • The first level is one of the easiest for this as most enemies die within 1 shot of the super shotgun. Line up 2 demons close together and hopefully they both die.

Heavy Assault Rifle

Tactical Scope: Get 50 headshot kills while using the Tactical Scope

  • Again the first level is good for this as the enemies die so quickly. The Possessed and Imps for example will die with a headshot. Just reply the level as required.

Micro Missiles: Stick 4 different demons in five seconds

  • Find any area in the game with 4 or more enemies. Aim at each of them and fire 1 shot. Make sure it is just 1 shot, as you will fail to get this if you have to reload. The demons do not have to die, so this can be on even the biggest enemies.

Chaingun

Gatling Rotator: Get 5 kills in five seconds while using the Gatling Rotator

  • This works in most heavy populated areas as there are often a lot of smaller enemies. The first level is one of the best places as you will find more than 5 possessed grouped together. The cave that contains the AutoMap is a good location.

Mobile Turret: Kill 4 or more demons during a single Mobile Turret deploy 5 times

  • This doesn't have to be done quickly. As long as you don't let go of cn_LT until you get 4 kills, this will count. Once you get 4 kills, make sure you let go of cn_LT before getting more kills, as it will still count as the first deployment so it will be wasted.

Plasma Rifle

Heat Blast: Kill multiple demons with a single Heat Blast 20 times

  • The Heat Blast charges as you first the weapon normally. So you have to shoot at random to build the blast before you can deploy it. This is best done with the rune Rich Get Richer equipped if you have it as that will give you unlimited ammo when you have 100 armour (75 if upgraded). Find any area with more than 1 demon, charge it up and then blast it with cn_LT to kill more than 1. The first level again is good due to the weak enemies.

Stun Bomb: Kill 30 stunned demons

  • Quickest if you have the BFG. Find an area with a big build up of demons (the later levels are best). Try to group them together as best you can and then fire the Stun Bomb. Then fire a BFG above them and they should all get killed.

Gauss Rifle

Precision Bolt: Kill 5 Hell Knights with a Precision Bolt headshot

  • I did this one on the Foundry (Level 3) as it is the first level the Hell Knights appear in and there are about 6 or 7 throughout the level. I worked on other gun mods whilst waiting on the Hell Knights. If you have trouble getting the aim on them then equip the Dazed and Confused rune and put them into a glory state first. The rune slows them down in this state, making it much easier to aim.

Siege Mode: Kill three or more demons with a siege mode beam 10 times

  • The later levels have more enemy build ups, but a lot of the time, you won't kill all you aim at in one go, unless you have Quad Damage, so I would advise the earlier levels. I used the first level as there are multiple Possessed grouped together.

Rocket Launcher

Remote Detonation: Kill 3 or more demons with a single detonation 15 times

  • The later levels have more enemy build ups, but a lot of the time, you won't kill all you aim at in one go, unless you have Quad Damage, so I would advise the earlier levels. I used the first level as there are multiple Possessed grouped together.

Lock-on Burst: Kill 5 summoners using the lock-on burst

  • I did this on the Argent Facility (Level 4). Just after one of the Argent Filter objectives, when you leave the room you are in, a Summoner will appear. 2 lock on bursts are enough to kill the summoner. I then immediately reloaded the checkpoint and did it again. After 5 times, this was done.

Pistol

Charged Energy Shot: Get 15 headshot kill with the charged energy shot

  • The first level is best for this one. The enemies are slow and die with 1 charged shot so it won't take long. Just dodge whilst it is charging and then aim at the head. If you have trouble getting the aim on them then equip the Dazed and Confused rune and put them into a glory state first. The rune slows them down in this state, making it much easier to aim.
