I just took a brief look as the walkthrough manager and it looks exceptional. I don't know the exact progress though.

There is a significant amount of progress done on this walkthrough, however the author has told me that if anyone is interested in picking up where he has left off that would be more than acceptable. PM me if you have any interest!

The guide for Alan Wake?

I'm currently working on the guide. I could use some suggestions on how to go about the Infinite mode achievements for 5 and 7 days.

This is a complicated game. I've got the first playthrough hashed out completely. I'm working to write out the 2nd and 3rd playthrough but it requires that I play that game to make sure that I've got everything in syncopation.

The publish date for this walkthrough is still a ways off. I will give you an excerpt of the first playthrough. Follow this and it will make the game infinitely easier and allow you to collect more than half of the achievements:

First Playthrough: Real Mega Buster

For the first playthrough you will ignore all scoops and survivors. After Case 2-2 you will not complete any other cases and instead finish the game by being at the helicopter pad at noon on the 22nd.

From the start of the game, you may either play through the helicopter ride or skip it. If this is your first time playing the game, go ahead and play it so you can learn about the camera controls. You will get upwards of 10,000PP playing this scene, but it is possible to earn many more times that by playing the first couple minutes of the game; you can safely skip it by pressing Start.

Play through the Entrance Plaza scene (no one can be saved here, so don't lose sleep over all the deaths). Run away from the doors with zombies on the other side to the security gate which will force a cutscene. Brad will tell you that you can get to safety by going up the stairs but before you join Brad in the security room climb up on top of the advertisement board in the center of the hallway. From here take a shot of the horde of zombies that are now all over the plaza. Play with zooming the camera a bit if you don't get it right off but with little effort you'll unlock:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Group PhotoThe Group Photo achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 26 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Get 50 Target Markers with the camera.

Run up the stairs and after another cutscene you will be in the security room. Try to leave through the vent and Otis will give you a map and radio. Go through the vent and on the roof head right to find Jeff Meyer. Talk to Jeff to get him to join you (5,000PP). Then go around to the other side of the roof to find Natalie Meyer. Be ready to take their photo when the yellow PP icon shows up as they hug and you should net enough PP to unlock both:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)PhotojournalistThe Photojournalist achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 22 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Score at least 1,500 PP from a single photo.

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)The ArtisteThe The Artiste achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 23 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Score at least 3,000 PP from a single photo.

Talk to them to get Natalie to join you (5,000PP). Then take them back to the security room for another 20,000PP.

Go back out through the vent and through the door near where you found Natalie. Fall off the top of the shelves to get:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)FreefallThe Freefall achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 21 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Drop from a height of at least 16 feet (5 meters).

Continue out into Paradise Plaza. Jessie will give you a gun during a cutscene afterwhich duck into Child's Play (P102). Punch the giant Servobot to spin its head around so that the swirly eyes match with the frown for 10,000PP.

Leave the toy store and go underneath the stairs into Bachman's Bookporium (P108). Grab Horror Novel 2. Head upstairs through SporTrance (P111) and grab a skateboard. Then across the hall to Columbian Roastmasters and grab an orange juice from the fridge cart. At this point it's probably about 1:30PM on Day 1 (70:30 until Chopper Arrives), you should be at least level 3, and your inventory should contain a book, a gun, a skateboard, an OJ, and one empty spot. Head downstairs into the bathroom and make a save.

Note: When you level up, the ability that is gained is random. It's possible (although unlikely) that some of you will have a different amount of inventory spots here.

Save 1 - Paradise Plaza - Before Carlito Battle

Go outside and skate through Leisure Park to meet Brad at the Food Court. Try to avoid zombies, because in the Dead Rising world skateboards are made of paper mache that is especially vulnerable to zombies. Use the lawn mower (the most satisfying weapon in the whole game!) to clear the door. Once inside, ignore Carlito for a moment and take out the dishes on the wall to the left with your gun. Otis will probably start calling you about now. You can either ignore him (he will keep calling) or answer. Just remember that you cannot use your weapon while you're on the radio, or else Otis will call again. Now focus on Carlito.

Carlito Battle

There is a stack of crates on the left side of the dining area that can be used to climb up to the upper level where you find Carlito. Your accuracy sucks and Carlitos does not so try to position yourself as close to the corner of the front wall as you can. This way when he hits you, the first few bullets will knock you left, behind the corner, but the last few wont hit you at all.

Drink your OJ if you get close to death, but make sure he can't shoot you when you do. Taking damage will interrupt the drinking/eating animation, you won't get healed, and if you're really low when this happens you will die.

Make the most of your ammo and only shoot Carlito when he's fairly close to you (about halfway down the catwalk seems to be the magic spot where bullets stop mostly missing and start mostly hitting). Don't get close enough to melee. Carlito will knock you down and then shoot you doubling the damage from one encounter. If you get low on health a second time, you're in the middle of a food court. Finding food shouldn't be a problem but there are wine bottles near the plates you shot for PP. If you run out of bullets, talk to Brad to get another gun.

If you die during this encounter, you can reload the save you made in Paradise Plaza or choose Save and Quit. Choosing Save and Quit will mean you retain your progress but you will have to start over from the helicopter ride. At this early stage of the game, starting over may be your best option because repeating the actions up to the first save will increase your level very quickly.

When you manage to defeat Carlito, you'll get 20,000PP and Case 1 will continue.

Make sure you've got either your OJ or a bottle of wine and follow Brad into Al Fresca Plaza. Stop at Flexin' (A104); be sure to enter through the automatic doors without breaking any windows so no zombies follow you.

Bust the all of punching bags (grab a barbell off the rack to speed things up) and run on all of the treadmills for a total of 40,000PP. Duck into the bathroom and make a save. You should be around level 6, and in your inventory you should have a bottle of wine (or OJ), a book, a skateboard, possibly a gun, and an empty spot.

Save 2 - Al Fresca Plaza - In the Gym

Drop the barbell if you picked one up so you can move faster. Find Brad at the doors to Enterance Plaza but before going through grab an umbrella and hold X to charge it around earning:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Raining ZombiesThe Raining Zombies achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 28 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Knock at least 30 zombies aside with a parasol.

Note: This acheivement requires that you hit all 30 in a single charge. You can aim where you go, but once you run far enough, Frank will stop running and raise the Umbrella back up. This will reset the kill counter, and that umbrella likely won't have enough durability to kill another 30 zombies. Abandon it and grab a new one. The zombies here may be a bit spread out, but if you head back the way you came you should have plenty to hit in one go.

Once you enter the Entrance Plaza, Brad will try to talk Dr. Barnaby into coming with him and Barnaby is going to have none of that. From here, you've got quite a bit of time to yourself so we'll get down to the nitty gritty. Head back through Al Fresca Plaza.

There is a bycicle that is to the right of the Columbian Roastmasters (A108) that you can use to quickly ride through the zombies back to the Food Court. Be careful to not crash into anything that is not a zombie, as you will take damage and will likely get knocked off the bike. Save at Flexin' (A104) if you are nervous about staying alive. Head back to Leisure Park then skateboard north along the contour of the mall and left through the alley to the small parking lot in the north west. Here you will find a motorcycle and a red convertable.

Get on the motorcycle first and ride back out into Liesure Park. The enterance to the North Plaza has stair leading up to it. Drive the motorcycle up to the top of the stairs and off the left side of the stairs. Repeat a few times. You should have fallen 33 feet or more and gotten this achievement:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Stunt RiderThe Stunt Rider achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 39 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Jump a motorcycle at least 33 feet (10 meters).

Head back to the parking lot and hop in the red convertable. Head down into the tunnels but stop at the top of the ramp. Back up all the way to the wall that surrounds the parking lot. Go full tilt toward the right side of the tunnel enterance without hitting anything and you should get enough air for the following achievement:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Stunt DriverThe Stunt Driver achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 34 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Jump a car at least 33 feet (10 meters).

Note: If you do not get the stunt achievements in the first try, the achievement is cumulative so try again and it should pop.

Now down into the tunnels. Take a right, follow your first left, then your immediate right. Go into the door at the dead end and grab the Maintenance Key. This lets us move freely between the tunnels and the rest of the mall. Hop back in your car and return the direction you came (facing out from the room housing the Maintenance Key, take a left, then a right). From here, follow the path used in this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwaUEVzCRCo#t=00m28s

If at any point you get tired or bored and want to take a break, the stairwell near the white car will lead you directly to a bathroom. Take the elevator to minimize risk as it will clear out the zombies on the destination floor.

This path should get you about 1500 zombies every 5 minutes. At that rate, it would take you around 3 hours to go from zero to 53,594. Since the zombies spawn randomly and vehicles dying will slow you down, it can take longer. Not to fret, this is where you put on your first movie, tv show, or podcast, and play Dead Rising out of the corner of your eye once you've memorized the route.

Avoid the explosive barrells if you can. You'll kill more zombies hitting the barrels, but you'll damage your car too. You car can die if it takes too much damage that that means a long, risky walk to the next car. If you do find yourself walking, avoidance is key. You will not survive if you let yourself continually get grabbed, and dying while doing this can literally mean losing hours of progress so remember to save often.

Don't fight the zombies on foot. Use any bullets in your gun to selectively take out propane tanks (but conserve your ammo as much as possible for the next time your car dies). You can commandeer a shoping cart for added speed but those break just as fast as skateboards. There is a cardboard box next to the white car that always contains Raw Meat that you can eat for a substantial health boost should you find yourself low.

There are 500PP bonuses at each 50 zombie kill count interval, as well as 20,000PP bonsues for each 1,000 zombies but thanks to the book you picked up you are actually earning 625PP and 25,000PP for zombie interavals.

Keep at it. Fairly quickly you'll unlock both:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Zombie HunterThe Zombie Hunter achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 28 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Defeat at least 1,000 zombies.

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Zombie KillerThe Zombie Killer achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 38 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Defeat at least 10,000 zombies.

Continue to kill zombies in the maintenance tunnels and answer Otis' phone calls. Keep an eye on the time bar for A Temporary Agreement and when it turns red use the elevator near the white car to get back to Paradise Plaza. Save in the bathroom and then head back to the safe room.

Save 3 - Paradise Plaza - Before end of A Temporary Agreement

Get back to the safe room before the time runs out for A Temporary Agreement. After the cut scene you should leave the safe room and head back to Paradise Plaza. Head right and up the stairs but stop at the top. From here you should see a ledge along the shops on the left. You can jump up to that ledge. It may take a few times but once Frank is up there follow the wall around jumping from ledge to ledge. At the last ledge there will be an Uzi which you should pick up.

Go back the way you can and if you fall continue to the top of the stairs. Replenish your skateboard and OJ supply. Next to the OJ cart there is a railing with an awning underneath. Jump over the awning to gain access to a katana which you should add to your inventory.

Go through Liesure Park to the Food Court. Make ample use of the skateboard and do your best to avoid the convicts in the jeep. They will deal out tons of damage if they either run you over or get too many shots off with their gun. Stick close to lamps and trees and avoid the big open areas if they're really giving you trouble.

In the food court top off your health again and fill the rest of your inventory with wine. Duck into Al Fresca Plaza and save in the Gym, then head back through the Food Court and into Wonderland Plaza. Head to the upper left level and try to shut off the Space Shuttle ride. Your second psycho will appear to stop you.

Adam Battle

Adam can be one of the more frustrating psychos especially since you take him on so early in the game. The only really important rule here is to STAY AWAY from Adam. Adam has melee, medium and long range attacks but the long range attack using balloons is easiest to defend. Keep your distance to force Adam into his balloon attack.

Adam will blow up a balloon and bounce it toward you. If you pop the balloon with your Uzi on the first bounce Adam will take damage. Repeat this method of attack until Adam is dead. Save your Uzi ammo so that it will last the whole fight. If you run out of ammo there are cop zombies holding hand guns near the stairs after the Space Shuttle ride.

If Adam jumps over the ledge, he will eventually come back up using the stairs that the cop zombies are loitering by.

Once Adam is dead you'll unlock:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Self DefenseThe Self Defense achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 28 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Defeat at least 1 psychopath.

After the cutscene, you will get put right back at the entrance of the ride. Pick up the chainsaw on the ground near Adam's body. Now shut off the ride to rescue Greg. Grab the other chainsaw that spawns after the cutscene and talk to Greg once more. He will will show you a shortcut if you follow him.

Stay close to Greg and hit zombies that are in his path with your newly aquired chainsaw. Keep Greg alive and he will take you to the women's bathroom and unlock the shortcut to Paradise Plaza. Greg will now join your party.

You will want to head back to the safe room. Greg can come too. If you can keep him alive you'll get 30,000PP. Here he'll listen to your demands, use waypoints and babysit him. If he dies, head to the safe room alone.

Once in the safe room, you should be able to begin the 'Image in the Monitor' scoop. If it doesn't start automatically, just hang out in the room with Jessie for a little while. Once the cut scene happens, leave the safe room and head straight into the Entrance Plaza. Ignore Carlos and Brad. Run to the south end of the plaza and up the stairs to the Sinister Read (E201). Place the Horror Novel 1 in your inventory. Leave Brad and Dr. Barnaby and head back into Paradise Plaza. Go through Liesure Park to the maintenance tunnels. The game will allow you to sit in this state indefinately so you can continue to kill zombies in the maintenance tunnels and save until you reach your goal of 53,594. Thanks to that second book, now you're up to 750PP for every 50 zombie interval and 30,000PP for every 1,000 zombie intervals.

When you reach 53,594 zombies slain you will get:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Zombie GenociderThe Zombie Genocider achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 46 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Defeat at least 53,594 zombies.

You aren't done with this playthrough yet. You will need to be at the Helipad by noon on the third day. If you have less than an hour real time left I suggest going to the helipad and standing on it until the cutscene starts. Soon after you will get an achievement for surviving 72 hours:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)3 Day SurvivorThe 3 Day Survivor achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 32 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Survive for at least 72 hours.

Note: If you have a lot of real time left before the helicopter comes use the time to try these achievements:

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Costume PartyThe Costume Party achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 32 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Place novelty masks on at least 10 zombies.

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Item SmasherThe Item Smasher achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 33 pointsTYPE: TotalREQ: Break at least 100 items.

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Strike!The Strike! achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 38 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Send at least 10 zombies flying with bowling balls.

Dead Rising (Xbox 360)Zombie RoadThe Zombie Road achievement in Dead Rising (Xbox 360) worth 32 pointsTYPE: 1 PlayREQ: Walk over 33 feet (10 meters) on the backs of zombies using the Zombie Ride.

Taking pictures of the PP Stickers is a good idea even though you can't get them all; the achievement description is misleading they will be counted over multiple playthroughs.

You might also be tempted to go for your 1000 barehanded kills at this time. Make sure you save often and always load from your save if you die. If you don't have a lot of time wait till playthrough 2 because you will be stronger and have access to books that will make barehanded fighting easier.

I believe it requires something like 24-48 in-game hours. Somewhere in that ballpark.

This is a complicated game.
Yes it is and that is the reason it still holds firm as my favourite 360 game. I would say there are only a handful of achievements you would need a guide for and to use a walkthrough would be to deprive yourself of one of the best gaming experiences on the 360 to date.

Each to their own but I couldn't resist my two cents.

But for the people who don't like the game that much after playing it a bit ( like myself ) a WT is a must. I hate how the game works with the time progression, I hate how the save works and I remember on my first playthrough I fucked it up and couldn't get to the next case in time which was needed in order to get further into the story. So had to start over again and never bothered to do that.

So yeah, I'd love a good guide telling me exactly what to do next to 1K this sucker :)

I have to agree with Dashag. I'm fine with certain complicated games, but not this.

Good guide so far! Keep up the good work and thanks for doing this!
